It isn't so much that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so many things that aren't so.

Jordan, be honest...

If McCain (or any other Republican candidate) had said that they were cocaine addicts in their youth and attended weekly KKK meetings (but didn't agree with the KKK ) they wouldn't have been touched by the public.

So why was Obama embraced with the equivalent admissions?

No KKK meeting attendance that I've heard of, Jordan. Good try though.

But the drunk and cocaine addict was true about GW. And btw, that is such a retarded analogy you posted. How many KKK meetings do you think Obama attended?

Your response on this should be priceless. Can't wait to see what you come up with this time. It's always an adventure!

equating Rev. Wright to the KKK shows a disturbing lack of historical perspective.

20 years...

For 20 years Obama sat in a church listening to this man:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc2FCJ7zWEQ&feature=related

I don't care how you want to parse words or claim that he has the 'right' to feel this way, Glass. Any time you make one race out to be better or more important than another you are a racist.

Whether you're a white man wearing a hood or a black preacher praising Loius Farrakan and complaining about the 'Unlce Toms' and the 'negroes that just don't get it' its all the same.

Hate...pure hate...in the name of racial pride.

“(re: 9/11 attacks) "...throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools, the abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked and when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad...I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who try to secularize America...I point the thing in their face and say you helped this happen."”

Jerry Falwell quote-

The late Jerry Falwell, of Jerry Falwell Ministries, made eight visits to the White House between May 2001 and September 2004.

"Lord, give us righteous judges who will not try to legislate and dominate this society. Take control, Lord! We ask for additional vacancies on the court." –Pat Robertson

Robertson, an ardent Bush supporter, told CNN in an interview Tuesday night that he urged the president to prepare the American people for the prospect of casualties before launching the war in March 2003.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/10/19/robertson.bush.iraq/

Robertson said Bush told him, " 'Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties.' "

"Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It's no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history." –Pat Robertson

"I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you, This is not a message of hate -- this is a message of redemption. But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor." –Pat Robertson, on "gay days" at Disneyworld

"(T)he feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians." –Pat Robertson

"Maybe we need a very small nuke thrown off on Foggy Bottom to shake things up" –Pat Robertson, on nuking the State Department

AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals.
Jerry Falwell

God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.
Jerry Falwell

I am such a strong admirer and supporter of George W. Bush that if he suggested eliminating the income tax or doubling it, I would vote yes on first blush.
Jerry Falwell

I grew up in the segregated South, right here in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Jerry Falwell

If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being.
Jerry Falwell

“Grown men should not be having sex with prostitutes unless they are married to them”

Jerry Falwell quote

“I had a student ask me, "Could the savior you believe in save Osama bin Laden?" Of course, we know the blood of Jesus Christ can save him, and then he must be executed”

Jerry Falwell quote

“Billy Graham is the chief servant of Satan in America”

Jerry Falwell quote

The ACLU is to Christians what the American Nazi party is to Jews”

Jerry Falwell quote

“Homosexuality is Satan's diabolical attack upon the family that will not only have a corrupting influence upon our next generation, but it will also bring down the wrath of God upon America.”

Jerry Falwell quote

IMO? we encourage this kind of expression of freedom of speech in our religious leaders. the ones that are the "most well known" all do it.

No, Glass, we don't. Those that truly follow the Christian faith cannot accept this kind of hate speech no matter who says it. Those that excuse it because their favorite Evangelist said it ignore all the red letter portions of the Bible.

So, Ray, that service excuses his hateful rhetoric? How many years does someone have to serve before one can no longer hold them responsible for their words?

i pointed out plainly that Falwell and Robertson had access to the Bush white house even after they made similar statements indicating that God was punishing US even with 9-11. I didn't hear any conservative complaining then. Not only that, but they both continued to expand their empires by preaching this stuff.

and you say Wright and racism and Presidential contact with controversial preachers is evil now? the Bible doesn't agree with you.

racism can lead to evil acts, but the fact is? racism is a normal evolutionary product that we are each individually trying to overcome.

Wright was a victim of that evil so he is naturally angry. Show me where he has advocated evil behaviour.

Seeking freedom fne pastor that you are talking about puy his money where his mouth was and not a penny less he is a good American his service record shows his love of country. What he experienced in life is where his rage came from. Serving a country and not having equal right before the law.

Comparing that to a bunch of idiot tea baggers that never had there rights violated and don't even know that medicare is a government program that keeps half those idiots alive. The pastor is a great American. Grt off it SF before you say something that you will be sorry for

SENATOR BARACK OBAMA: Before I start taking questions I want to open it up with a couple of comments about what we saw and heard yesterday. I have spent my entire adult life trying to bridge the gap between different kinds of people. That's in my DNA, trying to promote mutual understanding to insist that we all share common hopes and common dreams as Americans and as human beings. That's who I am. That's what I believe. That's what this campaign has been about.

Yesterday, we saw a very different vision of America. I am outraged by the comments that were made and saddened over the spectacle that we saw yesterday.

You know, I have been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ since 1992. I have known Reverend Wright for almost 20 years. The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago. His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate and I believe that they do not portray accurately the perspective of the black church.

They certainly don't portray accurately my values and beliefs. And if Reverend Wright thinks that that's political posturing, as he put it, then he doesn't know me very well. And based on his remarks yesterday, well, I may not know him as well as I thought, either.

"the spectacle that we saw yesterday."

indeed, when Wright was confronted with an opportunity to move forward he personally failed. He's human. I still find it hard to see him at the same place as the KKK.
