I'll tell you this....Im laid back and easy to get a long with, and I don't get offended or upset easily! Especialy at work! Sometimes I might act like Im offended......but Im realy just acting and having fun by being loose with my mouth!
Any way the one time when I realy lossed my cool with somebody that wasn't a family member or friend where its understandable......was when I was 21 and working at a Hess Express Gas station/Convience store. I was the shift leader on the 3rd shift. It was always the shift leader and one other worker there at night! And let me tell you....this young Black(not being racist or anything) wanna be thug (or mabey he was a real thug) replaced the other 3rd shift guy that was working with me. He was from memphis and I never met anyone form memphis before, and I hope I never do!
This guy had such a bad attitude, but yet he was so unique...it was almost as is he litteraly was a P.O.S. He was like he was from the jungle, but at times could pretend to be a real man! Anyways I had is dumb ass fired!
Memphis has to be like a different world out there....cause this clown was one in a trillion!!!!!!

it is a different world here. i live in the Delta. Memphis is at the very top of the Delta. The Delta is not just MS, it includes parts of Arkansas and Louisiana too... in this picture? Memphis is a the very top of the green patch
Vicksburg is at the bottom both are on The River.
at one time this was the most prized planting land in the world. it still is highly prized but fertilisers can make other places produce as or nearly as well now too.
The Crossroads (where the Devil and Robert Johnson cut their deal) is just about in the dead middle of the Delta.
this place is like stepping back into time 40 years in many ways...
despite all the negative stuff? there's alot of reaaly good things about this place too. i have no zoning inspectors, which means i can pretty much do whatever i want with my land. unfortunatley? alot of people do some really dumb stuff.
they burn the feilds after harvest every year here.. talk about some nasty pollution? they are burning the defoliant they sprayed on the cotton to get he leaves to drop so they run thier cotton harvesters.
we still have cropdusting here cuz nobody sues... most places? people sue the crap out of cropdusters as soon as they see 'em..
here? you might not live long if you were to file suit
it's hard to describe to people who have never been here, mostly they don't beleive it.
race is at the core of the problems and both sides are guilty and full of anger. both sides go way ou tof their way to make life more miserable for each other than is needed.

All I know is there are a ton of blacks in Memphis, and a ton of crime. In fact it is ranked #2 in the nation on crime! Call me whatever you want but facts are facts.
Black (61.4%) White Non-Hispanic (33.3%) Hispanic (3.0%) Other race (1.5%) Two or more races (1.0%)
"the rise in Memphis crime to the demolition of the old housing projects and their replacement with Section 8 vouchers. Instead of the middle-class people brining their new Section 8 neighbors up, it seems the new Section 8 residents are bringing their new neighborhoods down -- into absolute ruin."
"Is it really better to have ghettos than to actually deal with the root causes of crime?"
"We're kidding ourselves if we think economic conditions are the driver behind higher crime rates. Does anyone really think that people of the criminal mentality refrain from victimizing people during economic boom times, but then dust off their guns and go robbing and murdering when a recession hits?
Memphis has ranked in the top 10 in violent crime in even the best of economic times. A higher-than-usual percentage of people who live here have been raised in a culture that says crime is acceptable, having babies at 15 is fine, and education is for chumps."

well, i live under the same stats and we don't have that kinda crime.
and? i'll tell yawhat, go to any college campus and you'll find frat boyz dealing dope without worries. same crime in Memphis becomes a "statistic" whereas the frat boyz just get ignored as "kidstuff"
just like the crooks in the market? it's what they bother to go after and enforce.
is it more criminal to rob one person on the street at gupoint for 100$ or more criminal for Madoff to steal 50 BILLION with an expensive suit?
yeah memphis is a zoo, but the zookeepers are powerful white people and they keep the zoo pretty much the way they want it...

Glass, are you comparing college campuses to projects?
I see what you are saying, and im not saying race is an automatic indicator of anything. The mentality is what is different. MUCH different. There is much more violence on one side. Crips and bloods etc are mostly.....frat boys? Latin Kings, Spanish Disciples, Folks, are...

well, what i'm trying to get at is that we have come a long way in 50 years, but there are places that haven't come as far as otheres.
in 27? we had this flood break the MS river levee near where i live.
the whites refused to rescue the blacks from the only high ground they could find which is the levee itself.
they left 20,000 on the levee, 30 feet wide surrounded by a raging MS river because they were afraid that if they took them north to safety? they'd never come back and then who would the whites hire for the hard work?
this isn't so long ago. 80 years is one lifetime.
Led Zep- "When the Levee breaks" was about it...
change just come slower here...
i can tak eyou thru Alabam and Georgia and Norht and South Carolina and show whites just as poor as the blacks here...
crime is enforced very unequally in America. note that i am not saying they aren't criminals, just that alotof crime goes unenforced cuz they are from "good families"...
i zip around here at 10 MPH over the speed limit all the time with impugnity while blacks have to follow the limit to the exact number... i hate it when i get stuck behind 'em but i know why they aren't speeding

you and i CAN be as violent as anybody can't we?
i know i can. but i'm not that desperate. i can see how we can all get that desperate pretty quick tho.
i think we came close to that last fall when Bush had no choice but to bail out the banks.
As peeps might imagine, I've been blindered by focus on getting a new home, starting over, etc. But I must say, I'll be relieved when ammo sales level off and drop...

It will never change because anytime anyone is different there will be hate no matter what.
