Comet Lulin will be at its best this coming week!
Look for it along the ecliptic near the
planet Saturn in the vicinity of Leo
(s.e. skies in the pm/s.w. skies in the am).
Moving in a retrograde orbit so it tracks
very quickly across the night sky (parabolic).
Closing in very fast around the inner planets
and should be visible with a decent pair of
binoculars over the weekend.
And to the naked eye during the coming week!
Looks awesome in my big telescope (a 16" Newt.) .
Check out this interactive star map...

I got a new motorized telescope for Christmas this year that I've been trying to use to view this comet for the last 3 nights, but it's been overcast. Hopefully the clouds will clear before Lulin moves further away. [Smile]

Great, it's electric. Even better, it only uses four size "D" batteries to run. It's kind of hard to watch the road and the stars at the same time though, and if you hit a pothole, you have to realign it. [BadOne]

There is a hell of a lot you don't know and among them is almost everything worth knowing, including having the manners to mind your own business and showing the common courtesy of not butting into things with hateful alterations of reality and fact.

Why does a nasty tempered emotional nothing find itself unable to resist entering conversation that clearly in no way involve anything that that nasty tempered ego needs or should be voicing opinions about and announcing insulting imaginations intended to smear the character of others?

Not every post here is designed for you to insult people. Not every post invites or suffers from the lack of your participation. Not every thread is intended as a suitable vehicle for you to use it as a weapon for the denegration others.

Indeed many threads here, as was this thread before you decided to break the trend with hate and insult and character assination, are of pleasant light humor and dalliance, but with a transfer of serious to semi-serious information, all of which obviously escapes the intellectual capacity of your nastiness and hate.

You and your campaign of far right-wing religion intolerance are not the basis of or the theme of this forum!

Go away and hate somewhere and someone else, you sniveling little ego encrusted pissant and jerk.

Nah, but thanks, NR. I didn't get even a lump of coal because I have about anything I could ever imagine wanting or needing and told all to NOT get me ANYTHING. Even so, my sister tries. She got me an electric crescent wrench for my birthday. It's good for a laugh, but I can't find it useful otherwise. I have no idea why she thinks my thumb has lost the ability to turn the little knurled screw on a crescent wrench or how she though electricity would do it easier or better. Ya have to buy batteries for the cussed thing!

But thanks for the offer and generosity.

I'm watching for any new or curious developments in your research on early references to the Great Salt Lake.....Now that's the kind of things I like. (In my own research? I think I may have a new and significant result in fixed point theory. We shall see. BIG BIG BIG stuff if it all checks out. if it doesn't, it will be fun finding out why.)

Hahahaha

That f is a function means that f is a collection of ordered pairs, no two of which have the same first term; its domain is the set of all of its first terms; its range is the set of all of its second terms; and, if x is the first term of one of the points of f, then (x, f(x)) is that point of f having x as its first term, or abscissa, and f(x) is its second term of that point , or its ordinate.

If f is a function with domain X, range a subset of X (i.e., f:X → X), and there is a point x in X such that, f(x) = x, it is said that f leaves a point fixed.

That a space or set X has the fixed point property means that each continuous function from X to X leaves a point fixed.
