Who will win? Are you guys ready for the big game? Honestly, I don't like either of the teams. So when you don't like either teams, then how do you know which one to cheer for? I believe Pittsburgh will win this one because they are the stronger team and will fight this one until the last seconds of the game to secure the win.
Here is my prediction:
Arizona 33 Pittsburgh 35

I have a feeling the Cards are going to win. Never underestimate Kurt Warner. He seems to always find a way. Usually the team with the great defense wins but Warner proved with the Rams that there is always a way around a defense.

All my playoff predictions were crap this year so I am not going to guess but my gut wants the Cardinals on top for some reason. That probably means the Steelers will win it.
Ah what the hell.
Arizona 27 Steelers 28

The Cards have a better defense than most people give them credit for, and a primed and ready offense, I say... Cards-34, Blitzburg-20.

Well I'm atleast glad the Egals didn't make it in this year so now I don't have to debate going to see METALLICA or not. First superbowl I've missed in years......forever I think. ha
everybody thinks the steelers will win this because they are the best team...and they are...but you never know. gotta love football.

I can't believe the Cards blew it with 2 minutes left... i mean i won my bet covering the spread (6 1/2) on the dogs but i really wanted Cards to win and b*tchslap Pitts...

I thought it was a very good game. Good plays, all around. The officiating obviously must be improved--that last "fumble" was a terrible call and should've received automatic review.
Still, as I used to teach my guys, you gotta beat the other team, the weather, *and* the refs. Fitzgerald and Holmes made beautiful catches. Goodell was wrong when he said this game surpassed last year's: apparently he doesn't realize how many people were happy-happy to see the Pats get the smug knocked off 'em.
Definitely a good match, though...

the cards blew it at the end of the first half.
and at the end of the second half.

Glass, I hate to be negative about your assessment of the game, but I didn't see the Cards blowing the game at anytime. What I saw was Pitts... simply taking advantage when the opportunity presented itself with a better and better prepared team.
Actually, the surprise to me was that the Cards defense did as well as they did.
Unlike too many Superbowl games, this one was a good football matchup, with or without good officiating.

allowing a 99.9 yard TD interception is blowing it,
that's a 14 point swing right there.
James Harrison is not faster on the 100 than any of the receivers, they just didn't try hard enough.
that's how games are one and lost who tries harder.
three personal fouls, that were all real fouls (altho i'm not sure they should have been called in this game) by the Cardinal defense allowed Pitt to win... that's just blowing it.

I agree with bdgee. You are not calling the game fairly, especially that INT for a TD. The other team was blocking those fast receceivers, that's why Harrison was not tackled. 5 times he was almost tackled, but he maintained his footing. Just a great play by the Steeler D.
PS: I was rooting for the Cards

let's say somebody like Fitzgerald makes a great reception and out runs everybody on the feild. nobody blew it. he's fast.
furthermore? Warner shouldn't have thrown that pass to begin with... no, i'm not a QB.. but you don't force the ball in that situation, you play it safe and go for 3 if you have to... it's easy to throw the ball out of the end-zone form there.
harrison is not that fast, yes some good blocks were made, but in my defintion of blowing it? (and i bet most coaches) throwing an interception on the .005 yard line and allowing a 99+ yard runback on it is blowing it.. it happens, but it's still a mistake on several basic levels.
it was great game i watched most all of it.
i just think the refs got too involved.. it's the superbowl after all... they didn't even make any really bad calls, they just made too many... it's the superbolw let 'em play..
like that call for roughing Roehtlesberger? that was way too close to call in a superbowl.. esp since i've watched the Steelers play a lot tougher and "dirtier" than they did yesterday...
anyway i enjoyed the game... it was full of big plays..

Those 2 were insignificant since they recovered and managed to get the lead by the 4th quarter... they were clearly going to win with 2 minutes left when they gave up that last TD to Pitts... but at least the Cards covered the pointspread...

Glad you won the spread Mach.
This game was one more play from going to overtime. If Holmes didn't get that second toe down as he was walking the sidline tightrope, Pitt would have had one more play, then would have had to kick the field goal. Man that would have been cool. Never been a overtime in the Superbowl.

I haven't checked any records but I would bet Pitts has the most overtime games in their history then any other team especially since Big Ben has been the QB because they are a rushing team and go for field goals alot...

quick scan? looks like Denver, overall--but Pitt is up there. Oddly enough, Jacksonville has a great percentage of wins...but very few total games:

No need to talk about this game any more as far as I am concerned. It's now time to talk about the draft (new thread maybe?) or talk about next season when the Lions go to the superbowl. LOL.

I just cranked up The 2009 NFL Thread. The 2008 NFL thread did pretty well, but I started it kinda late. So the 2009 thread is up, so let's talk draft!
