Here is some good news:

Alaska glaciers grew this year, thanks to colder weather
By Craig Medred | Anchorage Daily News
Two hundred years of glacial shrinkage in Alaska, and then came the winter and summer of 2007-2008.

Unusually large amounts of winter snow were followed by unusually chill temperatures in June, July and August.

"In mid-June, I was surprised to see snow still at sea level in Prince William Sound," said U.S. Geological Survey glaciologist Bruce Molnia. "On the Juneau Icefield, there was still 20 feet of new snow on the surface of the Taku Glacier in late July. At Bering Glacier, a landslide I am studying, located at about 1,500 feet elevation, did not become snow free until early August.

"In general, the weather this summer was the worst I have seen in at least 20 years."

Never before in the history of a research project dating back to 1946 had the Juneau Icefield witnessed the kind of snow buildup that came this year. It was similar on a lot of other glaciers too.

"It's been a long time on most glaciers where they've actually had positive mass balance," Molnia said.

That's the way a scientist says the glaciers got thicker in the middle. Read the complete story at adn.com

Don't get too excited. CashCowMoo obviously posted a fake article.

First, the wacko left has told us that man is responsible for global warming thanks to industrialization. There was no industrialization 200 years ago which is when this article claims that glacial shrinkage started.

Second, we know that glaciers aren't getting thicker, they're disappearing.

Third, we know that the glaciers couldn't be getting thicker, when the Messiah hasn't even become president yet - that's just crazy! You can't have the cure without the medicine!

Or...could this article be correct and could this entire global warming claim just have been a big SCAM?

How much money has Al Gore raked in because of fearmongering? Is it an inconvenient truth, or an inconvenient profit?

Not to worry CashCowMoo! The wacko environmental nutjobs have changed the terminology from global warming to climate change. Since the ice is getting thicker in Alaska, that is proof positive of a coming ice age and Al Gore will still rake in the profits. With global cooling, he's just switch from planting trees to cutting them down.

It's an interesting article. But even with the full article is states that one cold summer means little if it isn't followed by more.

It will be interesting to see what the future brings and I hope the arctic ice DOES continue to increase (to a point). I don't think it will though.

Let's leave the glaciers alone for a bit. How's about the Murcury poisoning that is above acceptable levels in 50% of Minnesota's ten thousand lakes thanks to coal mining and burning? I think regardless of glacier advance or retreat it is enough to put limits on emissions of industry don't you?

P.S. I still think Greenhouse gases do create global warming and global warming is a danger to our world. It'll take more than one cold summer in one localized area surprising one scientist to make me think differently.

Why? It seems to me that this was all the talk by the wacko environmentalists who were sure all the ice was melting!

I'm glad that you lefties still have something to worry about. And yes, I do think we should further regulate industry - at least UNTIL EVERY BUSINESS IN THE US MOVES OVERSEAS!!! You lefties just don't get it!

No, PM, it is you that doesn't get it and, if your remark that ice reforming in just one season says anything at all about global warming, it shows how pitiful your ability to understand the question is.

You are a 1st class illiterate with respect to anything that doesn't happen exactly and entirely when you are looking directly at it. You aren't capable, clearly, of realizing that many many things are simply no viewable, by anyone. Most things that amount to anything of importance DON'T happen when anyone is looking since they don't happen within the possible view of anyone.

It was lack of thinking such as yours that caused them to shun the works of Pasteur on rabies.

Simply because a myopic viewpoint is your best shot at a concept does not make anything you can't see false; indeed, in your case, it probably increases the likelihood of its truth.

...Sigh...

I'll say it once again... You can't use a single regional climate trend as evidence of a global trend.

let THEM live in cesspools PM... China saw the light during the olympics... they HAD to shut down industry for weeks in advance just so they could have them....

i'll tell you something else, i don't think you have the cajones to go to Wyoming and tell some of those ranchers that want a clean place to live lefties... they'll use you for stringing up barbwire.

To look at the world and say that man is not changing the climate and weather mostly on a trend of warmer is insane

I guess I'm insane then.

It's insane to think that we actually have the ability to change the most unpredictable thing since women-- the weather.

Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it is not understandable by someone.
