Detriot went to sh%%

First...look at the mayor, and the city council. Detriot is so far out of tune with the rest of the state....Have you seen how high the business taxes are in that state? It is and has driven so many businesses out of there, and now there is a campaign to try to bring them back. The Democrats raised taxes so much it forced everyone to leave.

Hey, guys, the economy is in the tank. Lets blame it on the democrats raising taxes.

Hell, fellows, in spite of the fact that they haven't had the chance to for 12 years, if we yell it loud enough and often enough, no one will notice that republicans have been absolutely dominant for a dozen years and they OWN all the responsibility for this mess.

Come on, now, do your part. If anyone hears anyone saying the democrats didn't do this, yell louder and say they did too. If every one of us republicans will do that, the libs and dems won't have chance to tell the people the truth. Come on now, "All for one, one for all."

MS has offered serious tax breaks to get Nissan and Toyota to come here...

the breaks are so good theres serious doubt that the state really recoups the difference. i haven't seen how Mexico and Canada tax the American Co's that go there, but in Canada? the co's don't have to pay medial costs.. in Mexico? health care is so cheap that it prolly doesn't matter...

a few years back? i was reading that auto parts manuf. in Mexico primarily hired women, cuz they wer more dependable employees, and were working for 25 CENTS per hour... they get a little more now:

That's not to say Detroit isn't already saving a bundle by moving to Mexico. Mexican assembly workers average just $3.50 an hour plus benefits, compared with about $27 hourly plus benefits at a GM or Ford plant in the U.S. But less skilled workers at parts makers such as Delphi Corp. (DPHHIQ.PK ) in Mexico earn as little as $1.50 per hour, and their benefits are skimpier because unions are weaker in the fragmented parts industry.

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/07_15/b4029081.htm

Karla Fabiola Valdés knows just how big the difference is. In October, 2000, she started working in Ford Motor Co.'s (F ) Hermosillo plant in northwestern Mexico, and for almost three years earned $3 an hour assembling Ford Focus compacts. Then Ford laid her off after U.S. demand for autos slumped. In December, Valdés started working in the plant again--but delivering components as an employee of a logistics outsourcing company. Now she earns just $1.50 per hour. "I was so happy working for Ford," says the 36-year-old mother of three teens. "I hear they may be hiring again. I'm still holding out hope."

Yet as investment picks up, even assembly jobs in Mexico are becoming less lucrative. Two years ago Ford embarked on a $1 billion expansion in Hermosillo, which employed 1,200. The company sat down with union leaders and pledged to create as many as 2,000 more jobs, as long as workers agreed to flexible work rules and lower starting wages. Today, the union says, about half of the factory's 3,000 hourly workers earn $2 an hour--just half what those with more seniority do. "It's a reality we cannot deny," says César Flores, president of the Mexican Automotive Industry Assn. "An assembly plant now creates fewer good jobs."

I live in Warren, Michigan which is directly North of Detroit. I actually like the Mayor Kilpatrick a lot. Before he was Mayor, the city had junk cars all over, trash all over streets. Well, he cleaned all that up. Brought us the SuperBowl, AllStar game, Final Four, Casinos, Updated Parks, Made Downtown look Awesome. Lately they have cut back budgets and now Trash is on streets again. Crap is still getting stolen. Infact my buddy got his bike stolen last night. 500 people standing around and nobody saw anything. WTF!! So, I hear they are cutting the POLICE next. No more busts because lack of funds to pay police.

To look at a REAL CROOK. They have a guy who is the Wayne County Commissioner. Well, his brother has a fleet of Metro Cars for the Airport. They made it so ONLY METRO CARS can pick up passangers and drop them off. Taxi's and others have to pay a fee and register EVERYTIME they come. Metro Cars don't pay anything.

Now who is the bigger CROOK???
