ARE CELL PHONES SAFE?

This is a video, taken around the world, of different
nationals placing their cell phones on a table, 3 or 4 cell phones
is all that is needed, turned on, with about 5 or 6 kernals of raw pop corn
in the middle of the phones. Then the people call the cell phones, they
ring, and...well, see for yourself. You think about this the next time you
answer your cell phone.

Can't watch video here at work, but will check it out once I get home.

Neat party trick if nothing else. [Wink]

Mobile phone popcorn 'hoax' hits YouTube
Can popcorn be cooked using a mobile phone, or has the internet fallen victim to another viral marketing trick?

however?

Last week, three prominent neurosurgeons told the CNN interviewer Larry King that they did not hold cellphones next to their ears. “I think the safe practice,” said Dr. Keith Black, a surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, “is to use an earpiece so you keep the microwave antenna away from your brain.”
Some of the research suggests a link between cellphone use and three types of tumors: glioma; cancer of the parotid, a salivary gland near the ear; and acoustic neuroma, a tumor that essentially occurs where the ear meets the brain. All these cancers are rare, so even if cellphone use does increase risk, the risk is still very low.

Last year, The American Journal of Epidemiology published data from Israel finding a 58 percent higher risk of parotid gland tumors among heavy cellphone users. Also last year, a Swedish analysis of 16 studies in the journal Occupational and Environmental Medicine showed a doubling of risk for acoustic neuroma and glioma after 10 years of heavy cellphone use.

It is possible for microwaves and magnetic fields to have influences on human biology. We just don't know enough to understand the how's and why's.

The popcorn deal is a fake. The guy who made the commercial came out and said so recently. He won't say how he did it but given the success of the add he's says expect another such video soon.

Yep, "We just don't know enough to understand the how's and whys."

Too, it may be there are as many beneficial effects and detrimental.

Too too, "beneficial" and "detrimental" need to be seriously and carefully defined......nailed solidly down beyond any point of personal preference or disagreement.
