If you were on a jury for someone arrested for driving off without paying for gas, would you convict them?

I kind of think it is like prosecuting someone of stealing a loaf of bread when they are hungry.

well ....I would just because theft is theft. Why should they get away when the rest of us ARE paying and not driving off.

if it's kids that "just have to" get to the club tonight?...sure, bust 'em.

if it's a working guy trying to get to a job-site to buy milk for his family? I could look the other way...

How are drive offs possible???

In florida you have to prepay? You can't pump gas without paying!

Hey....I heard they raised the price of Eggs and Milk....Gallon of Milk is $4.00 now. So it would be a Grab Milk, Get gas and RUN!!!

Maybe we need another entitlement - a fuel entitlement. The deadbeats could go in and buy their case of beer and their cigarettes at $5 per pack and get a voucher for taxpayer paid fuel!

As long as the sentence was triple the cost of the gas and court fees then I would say convict em.

If it is jail time it ain't worth it.

I agree if this is their first criminal offense. If they are a chronic criminal, then I'd throw them in jail.

if you can afford a suburban? you can afford to pay for your gas.

Even the Bums in this country can't complain...they can walk into the bathroom at any mcdonalds, 711, ect...and drink safe water..or grab a coffe cup and get clean water from the fountain drinks. People in other countries aren't that lucky. Or after bumming people for a few minutes...they would have enough money for a double cheeseburger form mcdonalds....

Nobody has anything to complain about living in america in 2008...

If the Jews could be delivered from 1000's of years of bondage by the egyptians....surely soome bums in the richest country in the world, living in 2008 with our technology...can get their **** together, and count their blessings.

If you look the other way, who's going to reimburse the gas station owner? He probably had to pay for the gas wouldn't you believe.

If people believe they are entitled to rip-off their fellow citizens were does it stop?

Ironically, the woman probably had to re-fill her suburban at a gas station 5 blocks down the street [Big Grin]
