Ok, i live on the MS River well outside the levees.

when i checked 3 years ago (pre-Katrina)? i got a quote of under 400$ for flood insurance, i just checked again since the weather patterns show the distinct possibility that the levees could get "stressed" if the rains continue thru the next 3-4 months, and i got a quote of 1500$....

anybody else seeing flood insurance getting so high?

if we get a levee breech? we'll be a Natioanl Distater area the size of a couple of our smaller states combined.

i am not at risk of flooding unless the levees breech, so i should not be in high risk area.

Allstate and a couple of other companies pulled their Hurricane insurance up here last year. They said this was do to the water temp warming off the east coast.

Now what happenes to the money that everybody been paying into that feature all these years?

I just cleaned house myself...

I made one phone call and saved myself $600.00 a year on auto & homeowners.

I then called my current "agent" and told him that he wasn't doing a very good job acting as my "agent", and that I just saved myself a bundle on home and auto insurance by making just one phone call. I then inquired as to why he hadn't tried to save me any money, after all, he was my "agent".

I then gave him the opportunity to meet or beat my potentially new "agent's" quote. He called back and said he couldn't do it. The funny thing is, is that my former "agent" sells the exact same insurance that I got from my new "agent".

I then proceeded to call my new "agent" and inform him that if he didn't act as my "agent" and find the best rates for me every year from here on out, that he would NOT be my "agent" for very long either.

He agreed...

too bad more people don't do that, we would all benefit.

that really is one of the underlying problems throughout the "consumer end" of the economy....

people don't so their homework...

i switched to Vonnage? and pretty soon i got much better offers from my old telephone co.

next i'm unplugging the cableTV for satellite, and waiting to see what the cablepig does...
