I know network marketing has gotten a bad rap from pyramid schemes. However I wouldnt mind taking a shot at a product that is worth promoting. My intent is just to make some side income for other business plans.

Anyone have any success or failure with certain products? Im not really into the whole kitchen knives or vacuums type of thing. I know there is one called canadian diamond traders, or there are energy drinks out there as well.

Any advice or tips would be appreciated!

Thanks!

My brother and friend tried Excel phone service...to no avail

My friend actually did AMWAY....to no avail

I had another friend that did a thing with cosmetics....to no avail

Years ago I went to one of the Excel meetings Cause my Bro was pithcing me to do so....Product seemed great. They were offering cheap long distance. With the soliciters getting a small cut of each new customer. Pennies actually, but the "Pyramid" inflates the possible figures to a point you become mezmorized...not me though im too lazy! And the fact that I was annoyed into going didnt help.....

It almost seemd like a cult mentality with the top guys reaping all the new phone service contracts. Be weary of their pay-it-forward tree diagrams. I mean they do make sense but it just never seems to work out

But hey if you like the product..give it a shot

Ya' need to be the guy to come up with the idea and be at the top of that pyramid.

My bro just started the Travel agent thingy, has not made squat as of yet. I think it's through YTBL.PK, have not checked into it much.

well i heard amway was one of the network marketing companies that ruined the image of the industry...i could be wrong though.

i heard about pre-paid legal last night and that didnt look to bad since the product is actually pretty good for the cost when you look into it. im actually considering signing up for the service even if i dont sell it or decide to do their program

Had some relatives that tried the pre-paid legal services thing...nothing ever came of it though. They are however a publicly traded company...

Greetings To All:

Several years ago, a group of the Munchkin Man's fellow teachers got together and joined a network marketing group for one of these discount long distance phone services.

It was not the one called Excel. It was another one. The Munchkin Man can't remember its name.

Wait a minute. Here it is. The Munchkin Man just found one of their old bills.

It is called TTI National.

The Munchkin Man bought the long distance phone service from a teacher who was a member of this group and who had a classroom right next door to the Munchkin Man's classroom.

The Munchkin Man did not really want to buy it. The Munchkin Man only bought it to appease this teacher and do her a favor.

The Munchkin Man could not complain about the price. It was only $3.00 a month if you made no long distance phone calls.

The Munchkin Man was amazed at the personality changes which came over the teachers who joined this group.

They were like zombies, constantly coming after you for one reason and one reason only -- to try to get you to join their group and/or to sign you up as one of their members.

It was as if there were only two kinds of people in the world -- them and you.

It was their mission to convert you into becoming one of them.

They had a meeting one night a week inside the conference room of a local Shoney's Restaurant.

The Munchkin Man was invited to one of these meetings.

The Munchkin Man went.

The Munchkin Man was never been so bored in his entire life.

The people who ran the show looked very professional and talked a good game.

Being a mathematician, the Munchkin Man was able to see through the deceptions behind all those charts and graphs they presented.

The Munchkin Man tried to explain this to some of the teachers who joined.

They wouldn't listen.

About a year later, these teachers became strangely silent about this group.

They stopped talking about it.

They were probably too embarrassed to talk about it.

This is the closest the Munchkin Man has ever come to becoming involved with a networking marketing group.

Another one is a group that sells Xango Juice.

The Munchkin Man bought a bottle once.

The stuff is delicious.

But it's awfully expensive.

A bottle about the size of a bottle of wine costs about $40.

The price makes this a tough sell.

If the Munchkin Man were a better salesman, the Munchkin Man might give this a try.

But the Munchkin Man is not a very good salesman.

The Munchkin Man learned that about 30 some years ago.

The Munchkin Man signed up to become a door-to-door Fuller Brush Man.

On the Munchkin Man's very first day, the Munchkin Man spent the entire day getting the door slammed in his face.

The Munchkin Man didn't make one single sale.

The Munchkin Man got fired.

The End.

Munchkin Man

Yes munch that sounds very similar to the seminar i went too. People getting really excited jumping around...these were older folks. The speakers all seemed like evangelist to me. They make it sound so easy....they convince the people to approach everybody.....elevators, stores, restaurants, everyone is a potential customer...it was very annoying to listen to my friend....my brother didnt take it as serious

True story:

My friend once seen a guy in a local dinner leave his Excel business card in place of a tip..well lets just say the waitress was not happy...she gave chase right out the door.

Cool story, better you than me...I'm somewhere in the middle...LMAO:-D> professor...

We had the California Strawberry ponsie skeem or how ever you spell it...That was interesing, I lost 20grand. Actually started with 2 and went to 12. Had it on the Kitchen counter in cold cash. It looked and smelled like 12 grand...I unwrapped it and covered my wife with it on the bed...Should have taken a picture cause I REEE INVested the 12...On paper it took me to 95..letting it ride on California Strawberry fields...The promise was a 30 year contract with the company (Willingham Farms) my agreement was for a return and a promise of 75grand a year after the each season and harvest.....the story goes on (3 years worth)..Dinners, Golf tournies, Conferences, tours of the farms, strawberry tattoos on the behind, trip to here and there...AND ....then one day......

:-(.....the rest of the story....

Has anyone ever heard of a company called Primerica owned by Citigroup? Now THAT was a cult meeting!

If you are not familiar with them they basically have a group meeting once a week or so where this nicely dressed area top seller or manager gives a big speech about how much money you can make, and he showed pictures of his cars and houses and all these trinkets he could buy. For just under 300 they say they get the ball rolling for you.

Its basically taking amatures into licensed investment sales agents. However its not ALL that fishy. They do require you to get your series 7 if i am correct and there are PLENTY of people making good money. A few years ago I went to one of the recruitment meetings and I felt like it was some sort of nazi rally for citigroup. There was a LOT of pressure to join..of course since the guy running the show would profit off each and every one.

when I explained i wanted time to think about it they wouldnt respect my own choice and i was pulled aside into a room to be questioned into joining! I knew right then and there something needed looking into. I googled primerica and found all sorts of dirt and very unhappy empoyees.

So far the best one ive seen is pre paid legal just because its a service that you can actually use yourself if you didnt want to sell for them which says a lot. Has anyone heard of Canadian Diamond Traders? CDT? I discovered them a while back but never joined on with them, and wondered if I would ever be able to talk to someone about them with a un-biased opinion.

LOL CCM! Good thing you have military experiance [Wink]

Two months back I shovled out a "little ole ladies" car who I seen stuck in a snow-drift on my block.

She offered me money, I refused...then she told me I was a handsome man. LMAO! it knocked me back a little.....then she started talking to me about becoming a real-estate broker and had me go in her house and listen to what sounded like a seminar on her answering machine LMAO!! It was a top broker talking about other brokers acomplishments and playing there messages...the ladie stood by and just reacted to the different messages..."oh wow" "OH MY" and an occasional fist pump.

45 minutes later I walked in my house with a fist full of paper-work to a cold dinner. When my ladie asked "What the heck happened to ya"? I told her "I knew something was up when she told me how handsome I was...I havent heard that in like...50lbs"

was hysterical..my friends got a kick out of the story
