Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, "Stay the course."
Stay the course? You've got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned Titanic. I'll give you a sound bite: Throw the bums out!
You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up. I hardly recognize this country anymore. The President of the United States is given a free pass to ignore the Constitution, tap our phones, and lead us to war on a pack of lies. Congress responds to record deficits by passing a huge tax cut for the wealthy (thanks, but I don't need it). The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs. While we're fiddling in Iraq, the Middle East is burning and nobody seems to know what to do. And the press is waving pom-poms instead of asking hard questions. That's not the promise of America my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for. I've had enough. How about you?
I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a patriot if you're not outraged. This is a fight I'm ready and willing to have.
My friends tell me to calm down. They say, "Lee, you're eighty-two years old. Leave the rage to the young people." I'd love to—as soon as I can pry them away from their iPods for five seconds and get them to pay attention. I'm going to speak up because it's my patriotic duty. I think people will listen to me. They say I have a reputation as a straight shooter. So I'll tell you how I see it, and it's not pretty, but at least it's real. I'm hoping to strike a nerve in those young folks who say they don't vote because they don't trust politicians to represent their interests. Hey, America, wake up. These guys work for us.
Who Are These Guys, Anyway?
Why are we in this mess? How did we end up with this crowd in Washington? Well, we voted for them—or at least some of us did. But I'll tell you what we didn't do. We didn't agree to suspend the Constitution. We didn't agree to stop asking questions or demanding answers. Some of us are sick and tired of people who call free speech treason. Where I come from that's a dictatorship, not a democracy.
And don't tell me it's all the fault of right-wing Republicans or liberal Democrats. That's an intellectually lazy argument, and it's part of the reason we're in this stew. We're not just a nation of factions. We're a people. We share common principles and ideals. And we rise and fall together.
Where are the voices of leaders who can inspire us to action and make us stand taller? What happened to the strong and resolute party of Lincoln? What happened to the courageous, populist party of FDR and Truman? There was a time in this country when the voices of great leaders lifted us up and made us want to do better. Where have all the leaders gone?

Is Lee posting on this board under the name..........bdgee???
But serious...for all you Bushies out there, its ok. I know how you feel. I voted for the guy as well. But your denial has a contributing factor to this administration. Causing you to be an enabler. What can I say...who knew? The guys a screw-up who only highers bigger screw-ups.
I was against going into Iraq and just chalked it up to "maybe he knows somthing we dont". As it turned out Saddam was actually telling the truth about the WMD'S. Not long after that we decided to go under the guise codename "operation Iraqi freedom". So we went from WMD hunters to freedom fighters almost overnight. None of it having anything to do with the original "war on terror". Stop defending these guys, They've INSULTED you and your level of intelligence! Dont be a fool any longer...its ok to make a mistake, but do yourself a favor and stop making their continuing mistakes your own.
If you dont like what democrats stand for...that doesnt mean you have to like what republicans do.
I myself dont like the way the dems have been conductiong themselves...to me it seems their standing on the sidelines and hoping for another FUGK-UP(which there seeems to be no shortage of) so they can point their fingers and say "LOOK LOOK". They should have used more of an "open arms aproach"....(yes like im doing!) But there mean spirited campaign agendas are the only thing thats keeping what little division is left alive.
I wanna say "WAKE UP PEOPLE" but then im no better. So what I will say is......C'mon this guy screwed 5 to many times....lets ask him to step down and give sombody else more qualified a shot. Maybe we could ask "the Doanld" to go into the oval office and just tell him......but serious folks...theres not much time left in his term...and i think it would look alot better to the world if we ousted him....i dont care if its a day before his terms done. We gotta spin this opportunity into a positive. Lets show the world that we are a true example of a democracy and that "WE THE PEOPLE" are in control!

You are Right on that point Rimasco you do not have to like the dems or agree with the way they handle themselves.
But if you are a person that has to face the truth you have to see that the path Bush is taking is wrong and not American by law.
Both of these people Bush and Cheney have to go and the sooner the better. If we wait for an election it might be to late.
I just saw him on the news and he just said in so many words it was his way or the highway for America.

Wow thats some statement.... what troubled me were the comments his mommy made about the N.O. superdome nightmare...
"This is working very well for them."
"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this [she chuckles slightly]is working very well for them."
What she said on the tape about New Orleans' newly destitute is: "What I'm hearing which is sort of scary is that they want to stay" in Texas.
LMAO!!!!! This is the Mentality of the woman who gave birth and raised our president! And if youre a bigot and dont mind what she said? Well how big of a dope is she in her position to make those comments to the world?
good luck trying to spin it...

I'm willing to write my reps. But I'd like the letter to be a formal, non-inflamitory, statement of position that can be downloaded and sent in by others as well.
Or are we just BS'ing again?

Kucinich is filing articles of impeachment against Cheney.

KUCINICH: The question relates to why I'm bringing the articles of impeachment against Mr. Cheney, and not Mr. Bush. Is that it?
QUESTION: Why solely Mr. Cheney?
KUCINICH: Well, there's a practical reason here. And the practical reason is -- first of all, I want to say that each and every charge against Mr. Cheney relates to his conduct or misconduct in office.
Now, with respect to the president. I think that it's very important that we start with Mr. Cheney. Because if we were to start with the president and pursue articles of impeachment, Mr. Cheney would then become president.
It's significant and responsible to start in this way, because if the same charges would relate to the president as relate to the vice president, you would then have to go through the constitutional agony of impeaching two presidents consecutively.

Each of these guys are so vulgar in actions of officials of The United States of America that even the posibility of having to go through the process of impeachment, wherein we would be forced to realize the details of their crimes and that our neglegence put them in office, is so odious as to stifle the breath of the people.
