Slab City Wisconsin. The entire town consists of one person with a big granite slab in his sloping front yard. There's a road sign about a mile before his yard saying "Welcome to Slab City" and another sign about a mile past saying "Thank you for visiting Slab City". That's all there is, no gas stations, no stores, no nothing, just the one homeowner.

If your heading west and miss Intercourse, you'll end up in "Bird in Hand."

There is a town here in Washington state called Humptulip.

But, let's not forget my personal favorite; Weed, California.

I have a shirt from a gas station there that says "Smilin' In Weed, CA" with a big smiley face.

I had a whopper with cheese meal at the Burger King there.

Best whopper I ever had... [Cool]

I have been to California. it has many wonderful things and some treuly good folks, but you have to wonder, sometimes, if Californians have ever been out of Califirnia when they tout living there as the best.

We have a beach or too in Texas.

When I check into statistics, Tex's home of Fort Worth seems to rate quite well and Texas seems to out shine Calivfornia as a desirable choice for a living destination.

So, I say, come on down and see why!

Maybe we'll take ya to Angelo's so you can find out why it is often said to be the best bar-b-que joint anywhere, then, the next day, over to the north side for some family style Mexican fare at Joe T. Garcia's or maybe to Cattlemans in the stock yard for a melt in your mouth plate sized hunk o'beef.

Yaw'll come. Ya heah?

You are a blind man, perhaps?

I doubt you have much experience in Texas or you would know better.

I knew a guy in Alabama who went on and on about how Alabama was better than Texas and claimed significant time and experience in both. It turned out, when he was questioned, he had only two times in his life ventured more than 65 miles from his place of birth, once in the back of a truck as a menber of the Army reserve headed to summer camp in Louisianna and once for a couple of hours in the terminal of Houston's Intercontenental Airport to have some papers signed by his brother, then board a return flight home.

California has many good people and wonderful country side, but so does Texas.

Hey Bdgee, al the Californians are moving up here to Washington State. Better yet, they're trying to tell us what to do with our state now. That's ugly tear it down, we need to build this, oh crap, I'm lost in the woods, come rescue me! That kind of crap.

There are a whole Hell of a bunch of them, not a lot of room left in any part of the place that is reasonably "livable", and they have let things get so out of hand they can't afford to live there anymore.

New Englanders do the same thing.......move where there is room and it is cheaper and forget that the rest of the country's governments aren't based on the "town meeting". We call such attempts to dictate to others illegal vigilante movements here.
