Shiite Militia Seizes Control of Iraq City
Associated Press
October 20, 2006

CBNNews.com -- BAGHDAD, Iraq -- The Shiite militia seized total control of the southern Iraqi city of Amarah on Friday.

According to witnesses and police, it's one of the boldest acts of defiance yet by one of the country's powerful, unofficial armies.

an emergency security delegation that included the Minister of State for Security Affairs and top officials from the Interior and Defense ministries was dispatched.

The Mahdi Army fighters stormed three main police stations Friday morning, planting explosives that flattened the buildings, residents said.

About 800 black-clad militiamen with Kalashnikov rifles and rocket-propelled grenade launchers were patrolling city streets in commandeered police vehicles, eyewitnesses said.

Other fighters had set up roadblocks on routes into the city and sound trucks circulated telling residents to stay indoors.

There is a whole lot of face saving going on and it's costing American lives, sad, very sad. I do agree however that a complete pull out of Iraq would give those that hate and plot against America, a strong hold.

"face saving" is a very polite term...

Bush's father was bluntly told this would be the outcome of taking Baghdad...

Dubya has labeled the fighters we are facing over there terrorists...

calls anybody who has questioned his strategy unpatriotic, cut-n-runners, wussies whatever...

but his strategy was doomed to failure from the beginning because Iraqis do not thirst for American Freedom...
it's a stupid assumption to think everybody wants our way of life....

they just plain don't see what we have as Freedom, they have their own ideas about what freedom is, and Dubya has no clue what that is......

How do 800 men get uniforms and arms and orgnaized under our noses. These Police stations are viewed as pro-west. Therefore this is all a part of their revolution which needs to take place at some point for them to stand on their own.

The country needs to be divided. Its gonna end up that way anyway IMO. Why fight it? These militias seem more organized then their police and GOVT.

I dont think Bush understands the very simple fact that the sunni's and the shia's and the kurds all want eachother dead. They want freedom. The freedom to kill opposing relgions. Saddam kept everybody in check. Who would have guessed the country is full of Saddams? LOL!!

Al Sadr is their leader...

he is a Shiite...

Iran is Shiite...

Bush did what the Iranians couldn't do..

even stranger? when the Iranian revolution occurred? Reagan got our hostages abck, and then sent Rumsfeld to sadam and tried to get sadam to "pay them back" but? since sadam didn't win the Iran-Iraq war? what he really did was help the Theocratic government in Iran Consolidate their power and unite the Iranian people against a common enemy... sadam... and US...

Bush's crew ( rummy/cheney and co) has literally empowered the Shiites control of the northern middle east...

that's the truely discouraging part of this..

i watched the GOP primary debates in 99 and 00...

dubya was dazed and confused, especially when international issues came up....

i could believe that he won South Carolina... after that? i just don't know what happened..

i was living in SoCali at the time.. but? i had been living in Southern Va for about ten yrs before that... and i worked on a military base as civilian contractor... after i got out of the navy...

and i was anti-Gore so i had lots of lively deabtes with the So Cali natives [Big Grin]

True story...I was actually torn between Gore and W. I pretty much didnt like neither of them. So I asked one of my co-traders who is a huge member of the RNC "Why should I vote for Bush the guy sounds like a dope to me"? "I really dont like the fact thaat I sound smarter than him" He went into this whole rant about the Clinton era and thats when I was convinced. I wanted something new. Soooo I cast my vote and put dubya in the whitehouse
