Friday a.m. at 6:00, charter flight out of Racine, WI flying to the Canadian shield for 4 days of the best freshwater fishing in the world! Oh geez I'm pumped. Anyone want pictures of Mr. Upside with his world record catches?

Thinking back through the years and remembering oh so many days spent casting and retrieving a lure with no takers or waiting fruitlessly for any motion of a bobber to tell me a crappie was after the bait on the hook below, I now see that I belong to the retard, set.
Is this an achievement?
Hmmmmm? Come to think of it, I can also recall whipping the surface of the water all day with a fly line and nary a single offer by any fish to swallow the make believe fly on the end. Guess yaw'll non-retards never experienced that.

Guess I'm in the retard camp also. I can't understand the purist view that fly fisherman have because the way I see it, it's the same thing with a different approach. A fly is a lure, correct? When you hook one, you reel it in, correct? The only difference I see is that while you're whipping your line around your head and back and forth for about 10 minutes before your cast, I'll have caught 3 fish.

Yes, dynamite is cheating, grenades aren't though. I just hate the bait throwers, cuz they can't or won't catch and release.....anything. Folks wonder why they can't catch decent fish anymore....all you gotta do is look at the guy with 7 or 8 hatchery fish on his stringer like he is the hero of the day. And native fish...forget it. They need to make hunting and fishing more expensive. A little more than out of state expensive in Alaska. And actually you are right Bdgee, I have had days this year where I have planted myself in my float tube next to the guys throwing out their Powerbait and caught and released fish all day while they just sat there drooling on themselves. Besst question ever....What you using? My answer...something you're not.

Oh, and sorry about the neg. response there Upside, didn't really mean it. I should of said.....you lucky SOB!!!!!!! Just that last night we had a Remote Controlled Locomotive that decided it didn't need to stop when the operator told it to and damn near got my ribs broke when it hard coupled into a couple of locomotives sitting on the track we were trying to park on. Anyway Upside, I hope ya spank 'em good up there, and post lots of pics when ya get back.

Well, I can't speak for all "bait throwers" but myself, everyone in our group, and virtually everyone else I fish with are 100% catch and release. I can't remember the last time I actually kept a fish, large or small.

That's cool Upside. Like I said before.....go get em good. I sometimes swear those damn fish sit down there and laugh at us. Dusty, I actually hate fish. My girlfriend gets pissed when I come home with pics of the salmon or Steelhead I got and then finds out I let 'em go. She says the same thing....why catch 'em if ya ain't gonna eat 'em.

You worry too much HILANDER, no offense was taken. To be honest? Some day I'd like to try the fly fishing routine, just looks like too much work to me. Pretty hard to have all those things going on and drink a cold one all at the same time.

mmmmm Canada! They got some great lakes for fishin up there. And YES, believe it or not you CAN get native fish out o those waters.
I'll take em and eat em if they are nice sized but I don't catch limits. That's always been stupid to me.
One or two good sized fish to have a good meal and reward yourself is all you need. It should be all you want. Frozen filets a week later never taste like the ones you eat the night you pulled em from the waters.
Now you have my mouth watering Upside. Have a great time...I'm jealous!

Maybe you didn't intend it, but, it lools like, the English you use says that dubya has only invaded one country so far. In case that was your intent, I point out that Afganistan and Iraq are not one country, in spite of the Administration's efforts to get the public to believe such nonsense.
Even more important. the reasons for invading those two have absolutely no common grounds and the so called "War on Terror" does not include the shameful invasion of Iraq, the purpose of which was to stop investigations of improprieties in Florida in the 2000 election.
