With 20 minutes left Ticos don't have much of a shot (not that I expected them to).

Costa Rico has taken 3 shots on frame and scored twice. If Germany is going to make it very far in this comepetition, Lehmann is going to need to learn to block some shots. -------------------- If you don't sweat the pennies, you're not making any money.

One of their top forwards (Koller) lost a footrace inside the 18, and went down with a hamstring...basically, they're ball-whipping us, better control on offense; defensively, they're keeping their numbers up and denying us the flanks...We have a slight edge in possession time, but too much of it is wasted on long balls and 50-50 passes--even the keeper is dishing up 50-50 balls on goal kicks! dumb... --------------------Nashoba Holba Chepulechi Adventures in microcapitalism...

Looks like we are doomed for game 1. I thought we were a little overrated at number 5 in the world, but I thought we would put up a better fight than this. Looks like another disappointing World Cup for the U.S.

I had to quit watching.... they're winning virtually every facet: hustle, ball control, changing the field, numbers on ball....of course, they whacked us pretty hard last time, too--they *are* very good... --------------------Nashoba Holba Chepulechi Adventures in microcapitalism...

Is anyone still following? US plays tomorrow. Not much of a chance for a win there. I'm still pulling for Trinidad and Tobega to be the suprise advancer. They just England to stomp Sweeden and a win over Paraguagy, which should be easy. -------------------- If you don't sweat the pennies, you're not making any money.

Yow Potentially big day for the Red Whit n Blue... Ghana shut out the Czechs, and we got a tie with Italy at end of first half, with both squads now down a man -----> poor referreeing, we are seeing here. The US offside trap is still working (all we *had* working in match 1) and doing well against Italy's long ball. We are getting the flank this time, and have had some genuine scoring opportunities. GO GO GO!!!! --------------------Nashoba Holba Chepulechi Adventures in microcapitalism...

GEEZ! second yellow on Pope, for touching the guy... we should leave in protest (well, not really--that's a lot of trouble...but this is horrible) Hate to see matches ref'd this poorly, especially at this level... --------------------Nashoba Holba Chepulechi Adventures in microcapitalism...

Well, under the circumstances, the tie is pretty dang good. The US team that played as though it had jet lag in the first match availed themselves just real sporty, today. Well done... --------------------Nashoba Holba Chepulechi Adventures in microcapitalism...

funny chit today... At halftime, announcers are saying: "Australia giving Brazil more than they bargained for" "a tough time" etc Second half opens, Brazilians continue their ball-control clinic and caloric trade-off. Soon, Rinaldho threads the needle to and an assist later, it 's Brazil up 1. Announcers have changed their tune... --------------------Nashoba Holba Chepulechi Adventures in microcapitalism...

watched part of it... Like Korea's "scrappiness" and France, of course, can be dangerous when they're loaded up with speed in the front half... But immediately after watching Brazil? almost anything else pales... --------------------Nashoba Holba Chepulechi Adventures in microcapitalism...
