I have to admit, I'm enjoying this on-air feud.

[Big Grin]

When Keith Olbermann "punches upward" at Fox News, "the clever response, the cynical and brilliant response is to just ignore." But they don't. "They attack," Olbermann says in a conversation with Brian Lamb on C-SPAN's Q&A this weekend.

"Bill O'Reilly's agent calls the head of NBC week after week saying, you have got to get Olbermann to stop this," Olbermann said.

So does Olbermann hate O'Reilly? No, he explains:

"Somebody asked me the other day if he was - you know, if it seemed to me that he was going to retire soon, or leave this - leave the air, and I replied (ph), "I hope not," because he provides me with so much material. I can't hate him. He's so extraordinarily obvious and the antithesis of what I think broadcasters should do and what journalists should do and what people should do that he's necessary, in some way. I would be lost without him, in some respects. But, what he does on the air, everything is a simplification. It goes back to what we were talking about earlier, about inspiring fear in people, both in terms of what the world is going to be like, and also what the rest of the media is like. And I don't hate him. I'm entertained, to some degree, by him. I wouldn't watch him with a gun pointed to my head because I - people watch and actually think they're hearing the truth."

The full interview will air this weekend on C-SPAN.

O'Reiley is used to issuing insults, threatening, and telling lies about people that don't have their own media outlet to return fire and he doesn't like a level playing field....NOT ONE BIT!

lol

Poor dumb jerk oughta have better sense than to take on someone with his own show an an IQ at least twice his own 47.

Olbermann had Bill O'Reilly (or Ted Baxter, as he calls him) as "The Worst Person In The World" again last night.

On the March 8 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Bill O'Reilly stated: "You know in a sane world, every country would unite against Iran and blow it off the face of the Earth. That would be the sane thing to do."

In a sane world Mr. O'Reily there would not be any Nukes to worry about people would settle there difference with out wmd. But we are not in a sane world and idiots like O'Reily, and Hannity are listened to by kool aide drinkers who have no concept of world conditions and threaten to much with swaggering bravado and ignorance

You can add Al Gore to the list of idiots people listen to.... oh wait nobody listens to Al Gore!
Just kidding. Guys after years of being just like yourselves, on the edge of my seat pulling for my side, posting on boards, hating the other side, and I'm conservative, I finally stopped and figured out that politicians and pundits only have power if us peons get riled up over this stuff.
Because if it's one thing I've learned for every O'Rielly there's a Donohue
for every Reagan there's a Clinton etc.
Once we realize that all of the politicians and hangers on and pundits are full of BS than we, as voters will have the real power. As long as we keep fighting umongst ourselves and believing our side is better than theirs the politicians will continue to put on a big show while accomplishing nothing. What ruined it for me was when I realized that after all the partisanship and bickering, at the end of the day these politicians are going out and drinking, socializing and becoming fast friends. If they, the leaders of our respective parties, can remain friends and see eye to eye and respect eachother than why can't us peons do the same? When we do this country will get somewhere.
Good luck to all.

bdgee- Well a rose by any other name.... ha ha.
I was going to go with Goldwater '64 but heck it's a stock forum!!
I think when we fight and call eachother kool aid drinkers or neanderthals or tree huggers, and both sides are equally guilty of this, then we lessen our importance because politicians know if they keep that line solidly drawn between red and blue, they don't have to work as hard for our votes.
3 basic facts that I wish everyone could agree on:
1. Both sides have an equal amount of wackos
2. Both sides have what they feel are the best interests of the country at heart
3. Both sides are equally intelligent

If we were to all keep those in mind we could actually converse, see eachother as humans and be a more powerful voice.

You make some good points, but you are far off base with these:

"1. Both sides have an equal amount of wackos"

"3. Both sides are equally intelligent"

All you have to do is lisent to Fox news to prove the first is false.

Intellegent people don't listen to Fat Rush and deny the rational of global warming, ignorant self serving people do.

I'm a very loyal person and followed in my dad's footsteps and voted republican and plan to for the forseeable future. But that does not mean I need to demonize the other side because I think we need to pay heed to the other side rather than name call, and eventually find some common ground.
Oh Bush is not near as conservative as I wish he was so no need to go down that road.

Ever noticed how the right wingers (far near and middle road) call everything that is not slanted so far to the right that it ceases to be reasonable is against them?

He's equating CBS and Fox as a way of justifying passing on the trash talk and lies he gets from Fox as acceptable.

And anyway, the right wingers fostered a lie about that report of Rather's on our Deserter in Office service records. That type face was not only available but came standard on several brands of typewriter of the time and the clear and obvious reason they were able to find a fax marking on them was because they had indeed been faxed.....from Abilene to New York by the woman reporter that sent them to Rather. They were not faked or forged, as the sworn word of the woman that was the secretary that typed them shows.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Oh Bush is not near as conservative as I wish he was so no need to go down that road.

Bush has "played" the social conservatives..

he may in fact be one...

BUT?

he is no way a fiscal conservative or a champion of individual's rights....
as a matter of fact he has shown himself to be nothing of the kind, he has trampled all over individual's rights... and borrowed more money than anybody calling themself a conservative has a right to...

yeah, he beats the "culture of life" drum, and he's never come out against personal gun ownership, but that's where his "conservativism" stops...after that he's about as liberal as anybody that ever lived in the White House....

as far as gun ownership goes? it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he did go against it because terrorists might get one too.... [Roll Eyes]

Nope, he'd go instead for forcibly registering every gun in the country.

In the process of doing that he can break into anywhere on the pretext of the government needing to "know" that the registee isn't a terrorist and if he becomes one the Government wants certain other facts on hand.

After the registration he can levy a tax on each and every one of those guns except he will not call it a tax but the "cost" of maintianing the files.

Well friends, it looks like the battle still rages....

ps- bdgee - I enthusiastically embrace the fact that I'm a party liner and nothing else!!!
I have no problem admitting that.
I'm bald, short and ugly too and I have learned to embrace that as well, albeit a little less enthusiastically!

And after checking my scottrade account and seeing I didn't make any money again yesterday, I'm off to try again today!

Third partys must come in and save this country. I voted for Nader last round. Perot realy gave us the conservative revolution by taking 18% of the vote from Bush Sr. then the republicans like Newt had to come out and be conservative.

I've often wondered if one party would work.
Third parties will always flame out and are usually built around one person and fold when that one person loses favor, ie Perot.
One party hacks out all party affiliation and you could still have as many people running for President in the primaries with the top two vote getters squaring off for the General election. Why do we really need parties any way? It would lead to alot less lock step voting.
I'm sure that would be unconstitutional though.
