The new Corvette Z06 is the highest-performance automobile in Chevrolet or GM history. Codeveloped with the Corvette C6.R race car, which is engaging Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Maserati. A supercar by any definition. Soaking in racing technology from its 7.0 Liter 505-hp engine with dry-sump lubrication system to its six-piston front brakes to its carbon-fiber body panels. Power-to-weight ratio exceeds Porsche 911 GT2, Dodge Viper, Ferrari F430 and 575 Maranello, Lamborghini Gallardo, and Ford GT.(1)
The Ferrari F430 would kick the Corvette's ass... no question...
My bike would kick both of their asses........NO QUESTIONS!!!

I wonder what one of those Rip Saw's would cost me? The old 4-wheeler and snowmobiles could be retired with one of those bad boys. I'm ready to go ice fishing already!

10 more years when they've been out for a bit and the price comes down a bit, I'll be looking to buy one. They are sweet! Hopefully I won't have to wait 10 yrs though!

Now you got a subject I could spend all day on. I have been under the hood of many cars over my years. Hmmm!!! The Best Vehicle. The new cars the handling is great, there are some fast one's and the new technology is great. But for shear fun and thrills the cars from 1955-1974 are the best. I have had a few of them over the years and been under the hood of many. I have had a 68 Vette 427-390hp, I don't suggest popping the clutch at a standstill, I took out two parked VW's trying that stunt. I also had a 413 Dodge with 2 ram quads,a Jag E-type roadster, it was like sitting in a airplane cockpit with all the gauges, that was my daughters favorite. Then there was the 57 Buick Roadmaster Convt. with the dyna-flo trans(one speed)don't plan on stopping to quick but a dream on the road. The Chevy Corvair with a 327-350hp motor in the back seat, it could also give you a thrill if you could stand the smoke and lack of room, the 340 Dodge Dart I had was pretty quick also. But probably the best car made might have been the one my friend had,it was the 65 GTO 389 with 3 deuces what a car.

ya, parallel experience, Iwish...my pal had a 64 Impala with a 67 'vette engine that would pull a 2nd-gear wheelie...looked like a family car, though. We had a lotta fun in that one...time passed and didn't see him for awhile, then he turns up in a 68 goat. I asked him how he could get rid of the Impala...
"This one's faster," he said, munching a cheeseburger.

That 64 Impala you had to watch out for. I had one with the 409 CI. but it was I think around 390hp, the small one. They had a 425hp with dual quads and guys use to take the 409 stickers off and try and make it look like a family car, but when they got next to you it did not sound like a family car.

yup...saw him get beat once, that was it...shoot, one night? we were at the car wash and this guy rolls in with an out n out dragster...they got to talking, next thing I know, game on. Guy untrailers the dragster, and off we go...Boy, that guy was mad as hops, lol...
btw--my pal later set a world record in his outboard motor class...then we he "retired"? Helped build a faster boat for the guy who broke *his* record...
My brother-in-law had a great "sleeper," from the same year--remember the Ford big ol' two-door...Fairlane, maybe...anyway, came stock with a 390, 300-horse...pretty cool. He took that car to Germany, in the Army--Hellooooo Autobahn...

I *heard* that, GB--one reason I bought the truck I have now; still need the 'puter hookup, but at least I can still change reach the oil filter and plugs, etc. lol, my ex split with a Ford van we had...good riddance! Took *hours* to change the dang plugs...

The cars in the last 10-15 years have jammed so much stuff under the hood it is almost impossible to work on them without special tools and a hoist.

yup, that's why I like the powerplant on my lil midsize...built like a hemi; plugs down "in there," but totally accessible from the top, all *four* of em, lol. Great mileage--for a working truck--but enough go, also. eg, tonight, I got a big 185 air-compressor hooked up behind it...sure, mlieage will suffer tomorrow, but the drivetrain is plenty good to go.

The newer cars with computers are pretty slick. You still have the same basic engine, just takes a little more time to first figure it out. It is actually much easier now to do modifications on the drivetrain, instead of changing parts you can change those computer settings.

yep--but still say updates should be software.
Man, I learned more about that stuff than I*ever* wanted to know cuz of buying a hosed-up Astro Van...the dude had gone *into the dashboard* and removed the lamp from the "check engine" socket--which you have to "read" for the codes...I wound up at the library, copying all the circuits so I could ring out continuity...
what I don't like? way too often, the "problem" is the 'puter/sensors--NOT the engine...

Yea- It can drive you nuts, sometimes. My 6 cylinder mustang has more sensors than the 8 has. It has 4 oxygen sensors at $80 bucks a crack. You can rebuild the engine cheaper than replacing all the sensors.

I wrecked/rolled a few too many of my Ford Rangers in my teenage years. I remember those being a piece of cake to fix or figure out what was wrong with em.
Good luck on these newer cars for cryin' out loud. I've got the computer hook ups for my Jetta, it still scares me to death though messing with it at times.
It's all a big scam anymore with the Automobile industry, they have the technology for us to not be gasoline dependent, but will they share it with us? NO WAY. Even the hybrid's that are coming out aren't as good as the technology they've been hiding from the public for years.
