Human tradgedy, we may as well begin to keep track of the unfolding storie here.

The terror and anarchy of what happened in these two facilities will go down in American History.

No, they will write it off and twist and mis-tell the tale. History has this habit of being whatever the powers that be say it is. The worst race rioting in US history happened in New York City during the Civil War, but that fact doesn't support the northern excuses for the war, so it has been made to "disappear".

Thats totally rediculous Dustoff101. Mistakes have been made, but I don't remember anyone rounding these people up and forceing them into this situation for the intent to murder them.

Timberman, the genocide comment is a reflection of what many blacks throughout the country are feeling is happening to them.

If you were black, you would not find this ridiculous, when your loved ones are dying of lack of baby food and water.

Mark my words, the press around the world will soon begin using the word genocide.

I understand your're re-vulsion to my comment,
I was once where your at now.
But I am changing in the way I see things politicaly, and a type of genocide is not off the table.

Very good question, I wish I could answer, but I am not sure if there is an answer.

Kate, I worked as a 100 ton captain in the offshore oil fields.
I worked with many folks from the effected areas and I can tell you this. Most of these people are fearcly independent and don't trust government authority.

Some people in the projects are nothing short of scum buckets and animals, but that is true just about anywhere and whites fall into this catagory as well.

We have to be honest with our own feelings regarding race, all of us black and white.

The democrates are going to turn this into a political Atomic bomb, and I would do the same if I was involved in a political campain.

Yep, And it's all the governor of Louisanna's fault for not being proactive and asking for help in advance, as states need to ask for help from the fed's, before the fed's come in.

Hogwash!

I watched on live TV for days before the storm came ashore as the Governor of Louisianna and the Mayor of New orleans begged for Federal help before hand, over and over, and the political appointess of the Republican party ignored them! They were too busy conducting spin campaigns to smear the reputation of Cindy Sheehan, I guess. God knows they have "important" work to do and can't be wasting valuable energies worrying about the welfare of the poor in New Orleans and Biloxi! It's not their fault those people are too poor to buy a plane ticket to go to uncle Harvey's in Denver to wait out the storm in comfort. Those welfare mothers should have had rich enough parents to get a college education and a good job to start with.

Let 'em eat cake.

bdgee, I think peaser is like millions of Americans, they just didn't see how bad Brown was screwing up.

I am sure peaser is referring to the months and years leading up to this catastrophy.

I do see how bad Brown messed up. I also see that everyone else messed up too. That includes the people that refused to leave the area when a cat 5 storm was about to hit them. I'm not talking about the shutins either. If these people are so independent then they know that they shouldn't trust their fate to any level of government or anyone else.

Having said that, I hope everyone can look at these things going on an learn from it. No the lesson isn't for the government to respond faster to elect better officals. Sure, these things need to happen. The lesson is not to place yourself in these kinds of situations. I know many will not like me saying that but its a fact. Some things can't be helped I know that. Just don't expect the government or anyone else to come running to your rescue.

Dust....,

You say, "I am sure peaser is referring to the months and years leading up to this catastrophy", when he insinuates that the Local governments were neglegent by failing to ask for help beforehand. They did and not just for a week before. The last several governors of the state and the last several mayors of the city have formally filled request after request asking for the levy system to be brough up to date. Those records are easily available as are the records showing Congress passed and Clinton signed the legislation that put into the buget of the New Orleans Corp of Engineers offices sufficient funds for a complete rebuilding of the levies around New Orleans. Those funds were transferred out of the control of the Corp of Engineers by presidential edict shortly after Bush became President, Thereafter, the budgets he submitted to Congress and demanded be passed removed from the Corp of Engineers the funding for those levies. Get over the notion that it is in any way some failure on the part of the local governments.

When that storm was aimed at Florida, FEMA powered up in Denton and made ready to head there immediately, though there was no request of any local government that they do so. (But of course, that Bush territiory) So, they were already packed and prepared to lend aid after a storm even before it hit the Gulf Coast. The request for that aid was issued loud and clear bye the states and counties and cities along the Gulf Coast, but FEMA sat and waited for orders from where? Whom? Why?

You guys need to get it through your heads, the dallying and refusal to act was not the local governments, it was BUSH! Hell, he hasn't acted yet, just promised to give financial aid later. (Which, no doubt, if it ever comes, will do so in the form of Haliburton.) A lot of good that did the babies that died of thirst.

10 4 bdgee, only thing I can honestly argue with about your post, is I wish you would of said it 100 times louder before.

Appreciate your age and wisdom of politics.
We're going to need you old War Horse Dems and decent Republicans in the dark days that lay ahead.

Bush has spent hundreds of billions of dollars to "secure" Iraq...

Iraq produces LESS oil today than it did before we "took over"

US State and Local govt's have been the ones to pay the price...

i remember driving all the way across the midwest early last year and NOT seeing any State troopers..due to them being in the Guard and deployed overseas..
AND
running out of gas money to put patrol cars on the road..

this was the MIDWEST Iowa and Indianda, NOT inner city/liberal areas...HIS OWN constituents...

Left as one of last in caravan, last night, maybe the last: allegations of frustrated passenger attacking the driver...at any rate--bus crosses median and turns over, killing one, injuring others from minor to major...

Most passengers were asleep

Lord help us all--can you IMAGINE finally getting out of Mad Max Thunderdome, getting some shuteye...then waking up in a bar-ditch...back in the water?

wherever your spirituality is centered, good point for overtime prayers, candles, hawk feathers...

I believe it is time for folks to become prepared for dealing with your own personal hatreds and prejudice.

Be honest with yourselves, because when the true stories of what happened in the Dome and convention center begin coming out it will test your ability to seperate Race from poor ignorant evil people.

The breakdown of Americans to the animal behavior some displayed and acted out is beyond anything you would think could happen in America.

I am not saying white folks are not capable of the same..

But, this was a predominatly Black population in there, and as a race, the Hundreds of millions of good hard working blacks in the world are going to have to stand up and show the world that what happened in the dome and the convention center is NOT THEM!!!!

You will see, read and hear things that are going to turn stomach upside down.
