This is day 4 and people in New Orleans still have not recieved food or water. People are starting to die because of lack of water. This is ridiculous!! They need to start airdropping water and food in the city. Clearly FEMA was not ready for New Orleans flooding. They have actually stopped the rescue operation because of lack of security!

The national guard should already be there and their not! The armed guards should have been coming in by the bus loads after day 1.

That's because most of the national guard down in that region are gone. Right now, there are guardsmen from across the country being mobilized to go down and help. It's a huge logistical undertaking. But, they are on the way. Give it a day or so, you'll start hearing more about it. The orders may have already been cut. Alert calls may have already been made telling guys to be ready in 24 hours or less.

People can't survive without water. The national guard is suppose to be there when needed. This is day 4!! They should already be there. I bet if Washington was attacked there would be thousands of army there the same day. IMO this is no different! You have thousands of peoples lives on the line.

The national guard is there. At least the national guard that was left in the region. Now they are mobilizing guardsmen from other regions to go in. They are on their way. But they have to be assembled and sent. That takes time. I'm sure from day 1 of this it was being planned. Unfortunately day 1 was too late.

In all the rescue footage on TV so far, I have not seen a single shot of more than one helicopter. Even in the ultra wide shots. I expected that there would by swarms of them by yesterday at the latest!

Yeah, well when your getting shot at it's kind of hard to want to go up. It doesn't take much to bring a civillian helicopter down. They tend to react adversely to bullets.

A reporter at the convention center in New Orleans says he has seen many dead people. He said he seen 2 babies and many adults who all have died of dehydration!! This is on dry land in New Orleans!!
WHERE ARE THE SUPPLIES? This SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING!!!

Well there are regular army in Texas! Bush needs to activate the regular army. If a bus can go from the superdome to the astrodome in about 7 hours then the army should be able to get there in 7 hours.
I don't buy the theory it takes days!! If this was Washington it wouldn't take days!!

Something doesn't ring true here. Why would anyone want to shoot down a helicopter? I can understand attempting to overpower the operator of a boat (or bus) to use as an escape, but taking down a helicopter doesn't make any sense.
Am I missing something?
It sounds like a convenient excuse to cover for the lack of personnel.
I.e. "We can't go in without security..."

I agree Art. There will be an uproar. People should not have to die if they make it to dry land. But that is what is happening right now!

This situation is is showing signs of a total breakdown in command.
CNN was just bashing him big time. One reporter says this is the worst government response ever. Just like he says what does it take to drop food and water?
Bush should have activated the regular army. If this was Washington the troops would of been there Day 1!

People are now dead because of lack of water!! This is the governments fault. These people are on dry land. They should have dropped food and water after day 1. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DROP WATER? IT SHOULD NOT TAKE 4 DAYS!!

There is a serious problem where hurrican Katrina left devastation and calling Bush an idiot solves nothing and adds nothing to the conversation at hand.

Well chadsly, dubya can't hold an intelligent conversation, so why should we? He is fumbled the ball again. How many screw ups does the man have to have before people realize he is grossly inept. Has been grossly inept in everything he has ever done, and will continue to be grossly inept?

Ultimatley, dubya is responsible for what happens here as far as the relief effort goes. He screwed up horribly. Remember, I KNOW HOW LONG it took to get the MOB orders out for the additional guard assets that will be going down there.

Exactly HILANDER. So far Bush, with the media's help, has successfully passed the buck. I hope that this time his ineptitude will be laid bare. It's unbelievable.
