This is day 4 and people in New Orleans still have not recieved food or water. People are starting to die because of lack of water. This is ridiculous!! They need to start airdropping water and food in the city. Clearly FEMA was not ready for New Orleans flooding. They have actually stopped the rescue operation because of lack of security!

Posted by osubucks30 on :

It is turning into a mob scene.

Posted by HILANDER on :

They're getting shot at when they try and fly in. It's too bad that the actions of a few will cause many to probably die.

Posted by osubucks30 on :

The national guard should already be there and their not! The armed guards should have been coming in by the bus loads after day 1.

Posted by HILANDER on :

That's because most of the national guard down in that region are gone. Right now, there are guardsmen from across the country being mobilized to go down and help. It's a huge logistical undertaking. But, they are on the way. Give it a day or so, you'll start hearing more about it. The orders may have already been cut. Alert calls may have already been made telling guys to be ready in 24 hours or less.

Posted by osubucks30 on :

People can't survive without water. The national guard is suppose to be there when needed. This is day 4!! They should already be there. I bet if Washington was attacked there would be thousands of army there the same day. IMO this is no different! You have thousands of peoples lives on the line.

[sarcasm on]

But the Iraqis are free now!

[sarcasm off]

Why they never did a major call up of civilian pilots and Oil company Helicopters is mind numbing........

For ke- rima-ne sakes they have local knowledge!

Posted by HILANDER on :

The national guard is there. At least the national guard that was left in the region. Now they are mobilizing guardsmen from other regions to go in. They are on their way. But they have to be assembled and sent. That takes time. I'm sure from day 1 of this it was being planned. Unfortunately day 1 was too late.

Posted by 4Art on :

In all the rescue footage on TV so far, I have not seen a single shot of more than one helicopter. Even in the ultra wide shots. I expected that there would by swarms of them by yesterday at the latest!

Yeah, well when your getting shot at it's kind of hard to want to go up. It doesn't take much to bring a civillian helicopter down. They tend to react adversely to bullets.

I concour Highlander, in some area's it's to damn late now.

BUT, hey man there is plenty of old Cobra jocks around that would fly into there in a heart beat..

Those dudes eat small arms fire for breakfast.

art, in reports I've heard, there are enough choppers in the air as to require precise communication...

A reporter at the convention center in New Orleans says he has seen many dead people. He said he seen 2 babies and many adults who all have died of dehydration!! This is on dry land in New Orleans!!

WHERE ARE THE SUPPLIES? This SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING!!!

Well there are regular army in Texas! Bush needs to activate the regular army. If a bus can go from the superdome to the astrodome in about 7 hours then the army should be able to get there in 7 hours.

I don't buy the theory it takes days!! If this was Washington it wouldn't take days!!

We need special forces outfits to go in and take out the sniper nests in Downtown New Orleans.

Hey that reads like a B movie from Hollywood.
who woulda thunk?

Posted by 4Art on :

Something doesn't ring true here. Why would anyone want to shoot down a helicopter? I can understand attempting to overpower the operator of a boat (or bus) to use as an escape, but taking down a helicopter doesn't make any sense.

Am I missing something?

It sounds like a convenient excuse to cover for the lack of personnel.

I.e. "We can't go in without security..."

Posted by osubucks30 on :

I agree Art. There will be an uproar. People should not have to die if they make it to dry land. But that is what is happening right now!

Bush on TV now, "Former Pres.s Bush & Clinton to head relief effort."

CNN was just bashing him big time. One reporter says this is the worst government response ever. Just like he says what does it take to drop food and water?

Bush should have activated the regular army. If this was Washington the troops would of been there Day 1!

Comments like that make it pointless to even try to have an intellegent conversation.

People are now dead because of lack of water!! This is the governments fault. These people are on dry land. They should have dropped food and water after day 1. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DROP WATER? IT SHOULD NOT TAKE 4 DAYS!!

osubucks30, perfectly fine comment. It's pointless name calling and blame that leads to trivial banter.

hey bucks, I think chadsly was talking to me, not you. he he he he he he he he he he he.

Posted by Chadsly on :

There is a serious problem where hurrican Katrina left devastation and calling Bush an idiot solves nothing and adds nothing to the conversation at hand.

Posted by HILANDER on :

Well chadsly, dubya can't hold an intelligent conversation, so why should we? He is fumbled the ball again. How many screw ups does the man have to have before people realize he is grossly inept. Has been grossly inept in everything he has ever done, and will continue to be grossly inept?

Obviously you have no concept of the power of command.

You need to open your eyes in order to see!

You must have ZERO military expieriance or you would never make such a stupid dumb azz statement.

Ultimatley, dubya is responsible for what happens here as far as the relief effort goes. He screwed up horribly. Remember, I KNOW HOW LONG it took to get the MOB orders out for the additional guard assets that will be going down there.

Posted by 4Art on :

Exactly HILANDER. So far Bush, with the media's help, has successfully passed the buck. I hope that this time his ineptitude will be laid bare. It's unbelievable.

I MUST CONFESS. I AM AT A TOTAL LOSS AS TO WHY THE MILITARY IS NOT IN NEW ORLEANS YET. HECK, THEY CAN ASSUALT ANYTHING. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF SOLIDERS WITHIN EASY STRIKE DISTANCE. AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY LOGISTICS. THEY ARE ON GO 24 HOURS A DAY. PEOPLE ARE DYING AND NO TROOPS IN THE STREETS. GET THEM IN THERE AND THING BRING IN SUPPLIES. AIR DROPS, AIR DROPS, AIR DROPS. THIS LOOKS LIKE IT IS REALLY SHOWING WHAT WE ARE PREPARED FOR. NOTHING IT SEEMS.

We need leadership. We're not getting what we pay for.

Posted by BuyTex on :

I saw footage of a guy and his wife, just folks mind you, who drove to NO from Baton Rouge--with its own problems--and now they're working with official crews, taking peeps off choppers etc, etc. My point? Civilians should not even be able to *get in,* but the "official" effort is so inept, they're taking whatever they can get. Sad--and dangerous...

Posted by glassman on :

everything will be ok, Bush can do no wrong.... so we must not know the whole story... maybe they will de-classify the real reasons the response is so slow in 2020... in any case? i'm sure the liberal media is just making all of this stuff up to make Bush look bad...

Our incompetant Fema director should learn what a Keel Haul is.

Hey glass, relax, don't ya know our eyes ears and very souls are lying to us.

That freak { Brown } was just on CNN. He spoke of the people imperil like they were rats coming out of there holes.

All he can come up with is it's they're fault for not evacuating.

glass, ya called this one on these bozo's, it just took me longer to be convinced.

glassman, once I let go of my support for the administration, I began to feel more at ease..

I think my conscience was bothering me.

You did make me think about these characters without hiding behind party loyalty...

Then it became very easy, to dump these clowns.

Posted by glassman on :

well? we are stuck with them for a while longer...

so it's important to remember that we have no choice but to try to be supportive of each other....

last year? Bush used the FLA hurricanes as a campaign tool....

the scientists have been saying in no uncertain terms that we are entering a NATURALLY occurring "active phase" of tropical storms, and we were warned last season...

nothing was done... we have 20 to 50 more years of the "active phase" of tropical storms facing us...

expect this scene to be replayed again and again...

straw? twigs? or bricks?

That is correct. The closest experience I have to the military is watching Saving Private Ryan (or whatever your favorite military movie is) or video games.

I do, however, have several friends in the FBI. Nothing secretive about it. I just know some of the things that are going on down in New Orleans and the surrounding area like the teams they have deployed, numbers and times of those serving. They have several teams going down there to take fingerprints of the dead bodies floating around. They national has been there a couple of days. People keep posted that nothing is being done. It's amazing to listen to ignorance in some of the comments being posted here like they have the "conspiracy" all figured out.

I can't remember where I saw it, but someone here posted that the media is helping President Bush "pass the buck". LOL When has the general media ever tried to help a Rebuplican.

(OT: Oh and by the way is Sesame Street too conservative?)

i do know one thing if the order was put out at the top in one day you would have emergncy supplies starting to be stock pilied outside the city limits and ready for distribution. if the right people gave the order,i am white for the record and 56 but if i was black, after what i have seen in this country, and lived in new orleans i would have to have my reservations about the subject of aid to the city

The admin. staged the rescue. Airforce 1 leads the charge..

Behind is the convoy, They timed it for Bush to leave DC this morning.

This will enrage the country.

But wait, there's more! The "Compassionate Conservatives" have a WHOLE Network! You know, the "Fair and Balanced" one?

Do some DD before you make stupid comments like this.
