After Syrian troops and intelligence units staged a ceremonial leave-taking from Lebanon Tuesday, Syrian president Assad reactivated the defunct External Intelligence Agency.

Straight from officiating at the leave-taking ceremony, General Roustum Ghazalah, Syrian military intelligence chief in Lebanon, and his 300 officers, received a presidential directive to carry on with their former undercover duties in Lebanon, operating out of Damascus from the External Intelligence Agency.

A country with a covert military presence in another country! And a display of hipocracy by the ruling officials to boot!

How dare they! Only the righteous and almighty US is allowed to do that!

Yes, support thr terrorists - kill the Jews!

Lebanon is the terrorist proxy of Syria.

Support Syria's continued use of Lebanon as a terroist camp.

Keep the turmoil in the mideast going until terrorists can get nukes and can cause a nuclear war in the mideast. Then we can all ride bikes, as we should be doing, to save the planet.

Sure. After their defeat by the USA, Japan didn't change from an ambitious, land-grabbing, cruel and warring nation into a peace loving nation that disbanded its military. And the Iraqi war won't be instrumental to bringing peace and stability to the mideast in 5 years, after more than 50 years of war there. Keep in mind there is no war in the mideast now - only sporadic and limited terrorist activity that is slowly but surely decreasing.

still living in the past?

face facts:

Iraq didn't welcome US as liberators...we still have several HUNDRED BILLION more to spend there before we have any hope of it being a true success...

in the meantime? we have slapped every other major power on the planet and the whole UN in the face with it...

we stand ALONE, at the end of WW2? we didn't stand alone...

the New Conservatives have over-reached....and we are just beginning to pay the bill for their hubrus...

China is sitting over there laughing....as they continue to collect as much of our cash as they can....this war was a diversion from the real problems we are facing and even if we are successfull in bringing peace to the mideast in 5-10-15 yrs? the oil is still gonna run out....it's not endless... simple Cost benefit Analysis...

Most Iraqis did welcome the US as liberators - the celebrations were widespread. Polls taken periodically show most Iraqis were glad we kicked out Saddam. The vast majority today are pro-USA.

We are sucessful in Iraq and are becoming more so each day.

We are the major influence in the world today. We are the leader. Do you think Russia, China, Germany or France occupy this role instead of us?

How would you have fought the war on terror and solved the mideast instability, in 2002 and beyond?

All you can do is whine and moan like a child.

What plan should we have followed in 2002?

I can tell you now that whatever plan you describe would have strengthened terrorism to the point of more 9/11 type attacks on USA soil. Bush is defeating terroism and keeping it contained in Iraq. Have you noticed the tremendous drop in terrorism in Israel and the USA since we toppled Saddam?

me? whine and moan? hmmm...

i have just been trying to point out the truth as i see it...

i have already stated that i think we would have been much more successful if we had stuck to Afgh. and made it a model....

instead? we decided to tell the whole rest of the world to effoff.....

i don't care how corrupt the UN is...if we are as powerful as you say? we could have accomplished much more and at less cost to US by working harder there....

in FACT: the way the UN situation is described by you and Bolton and other new conservatives? we have already lost the influence we earned after WW2...which is it?

are we the world leader or not? a world leader doesn't have to beg Saudi princes and Russian prime minesters to increase oil flow....

IMO? our current leadership doesn't have a clue what diplomacy means....

Art: That would have left the mideast vulnerable to Saddam and the terrorists, to grow and become capable eventually of atacking us with nukes.

Afghanistan is a garbage dump. The only reason we are there is to fight terroism, and we are doing it there. They will always be a heroin supplier to the world.

Glassman: instead? we decided to tell the whole rest of the world to effoff.....

Art: As well we should when pursuing our interests. You put the world's intersts above our own - misguided universal love that will only destroy this country. That is why the dummos hate Bolton - he refuses to put the interests of the other nations in the world above our own. It is why Bolton is good for this country - he will not sell out to other countries as you and the liberals would.

Glassman: I don't care how corrupt the UN is...if we are as powerful as you say? we could have accomplished much more and at less cost to US by working harder there....

Art: Get real! France, Germany, Russia, and China would have protected Saddam and protected the terrorists - they would love to see Saddam take over the mideast and would love to see the terrorists destroy us. They would have manipulated the UN to achieve this destrcution of us, which is what they did before we attacked Iraq.

Glassman: in FACT: the way the UN situation is described by you and Bolton and other new conservatives? we have already lost the influence we earned after WW2...which is it?...are we the world leader or not? a world leader doesn't have to beg Saudi princes and Russian prime minesters to increase oil flow....

Art: Have you seen France, Germany, and Russia kiss up to us lately? I have. We are not begging anyone to do anything - your fantasy. Oil will reach $100 a barrel in a few years - India and China are rapidly using more. Bush's energy bill will help over time, but the dummos will block it.

Glassman: IMO? our current leadership doesn't have a clue what diplomacy means....

Art: They refuse to sell out to other countries and give the store away, like you would want. It is you that doesn't have a clue to foreign relations.

glassman: you aren't watching the news then.....

Russia most definitely IS the reason oil went above 50$ a barrel and i predicted it last summer when they shut down yukos.....

i am not always correct...but in this i am...our current leaders TRIED to make a big power grab and they blindly left OUR butts exposed to the OTHER world powers....

here read this and note the dates...

diplomacy isn't about being a wimp, it's about being smart and utilising your resources effectively...our resources are being squandered by a few for the benefit of a few....

All industralized nations are growing, particularly India, China and other Asian nations. Their use of oil is expotentially outstripping current supply.

So why are oil prices going up?

Ever hear of supply and demand mechanics?

That is why we will see oil at $100 a barrel in a few years.

heh, that is why we spent 300 billion$ on trying to take over Iraq....and will spend another 2-400 billion to finish the job...

we should have spent it on converting our country to alternative fuels...
INCLUDING finding a safe, secure method for dealing with the nuclear waste from nukular par plants....

Art: Love your "Leave them alone" policy on fighting terrorism - limit it to Afghanistan and stay out of the mideast.

Put the government in charge of energy source finding/development? Sure, after 50 years and trillions of dollars of taxpayer money wasted they might come up with something. This is a proper function of private industry, and many efforts to develop alternative energy are underway by private industry. Do the terms "fuel cells" and "solar power" mean anything to you? Private companoies are developing these and will do a much better job at it than big government.
