"Credible intelligence from multiple sources indicates Al Qaeda plans to attempt an attack on the United States in the next few months," Ashcroft said. "This disturbing intelligence indicates Al Qaeda's specific intention to hit the United States hard."

Do you think it will happen, and do you know what will happen?

I think it may be biological weapon!

Mornin' Wizzzzzz,

My prediction is that they'll blow up railways/subways and a large portion of the 100+ UNPROTECTED US chemical and nuclear plants.

Either that or the Athens Olympics, maybe both.

Imagine this, 50 guys, 50 bombs, and 50 chemical plants, KAAABBBBOOOOOMMMMMM

Good Morning to you too!

There are so many predictions....you right about Athen's - but I think it is too obvious.
Railroad - possible. Nuclear stations - possible
But then we may be thinking about too obvious ones, and they may surprise us with the obvious ones, because we were digging into not obvious ones...just like suicide bombings. They keep repeating them over and over again....

I think suicide bombs and car bombs will be their methods of choice, if you look at all the chemical plants and nuclear plants anywhere in the world, they all have train tracks right behind them for shipping and receiving. All you'd have to do is walk or drive your bomb down those tracks and blow up your target. Simple.

Yesterdays explosion at that sulfer plant could be a precurser to the near future.

Only times 10 and with poisionous gas.

GOOD POINT!
Another alternative struck my mind - attack on the cyber space or power outtage, just like the one we had in Ontario and US east side last year. Soon as we lost power the first thing went through our minds was terrorist attack...this could create a lot of chaos also. What do you think, is this possible? I cannot imagine world loosing communication.

I don't think their smart enough to do that, I think if they wanted to hit us as far as energy goes, they'd blow up our natural gas and/or oil pipelines. I guess oil, they don't follow natural gas, yet.

Just think how easy it would be to blow up an above ground pipeline. It would only take one guy and one small bomb.

Yes they might not be smart enough to do the cyber attack, but they might be smart enough to hire some one to do that for them. Money sometimes can do bad things!
After all you have good points....just trying for different possibilites, and God forbid it does not happen.

Phone line cuts hit thousands in Atlantic Canada 10:33 am ET

TORONTO, June 9 (Reuters) - Telephone and Internet services to thousands of customers in Atlantic Canada were disrupted late on Tuesday after primary cables were cut in what phone provider Aliant Inc. said was a deliberate act.

Police are investigating the incident, which affected 250,000 people in Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as 5,000 in Nova Scotia.

About 4,300 workers at Aliant, the dominant phone provider in Eastern Canada, have been on strike since April, affecting service in four provinces.

"We take these incidents very seriously. Preliminary view, we consider these to be deliberate acts. We'll be working very closely with local officials to investigate," said Lynn Coveyduck, a spokeswoman for Aliant, said on Wednesday morning.

She said service was mostly restored, and was set to be fully operational at around 11 a.m. (1300 GMT).

Emergency 911 service was hit by the line cuts but came back on line quickly.

The striking workers include technicians, operators and clerical staff. About 1,800 managers have been trained and redeployed to replace the strikers.

Aliant is 54 percent owned by Montreal-based BCE Inc. , Canada's largest phone company.

Could someone explain the position that certain terrorist organizations probably aren't "smart enough" to come up with an idea that a random Internet BB with a couple hundred readers (i'm estimating, ha ha)came up with? I mean I know that computer programming and whatnot aren't widely taught in afghanistan to say the least, and I will be the first to agree that if they were that smart they wouldn't be religious fundamentalists. That being said, there are supposedly terrorist cells in every country where the terrorists want to be, including all of Europe, the US, Canada, who knows where else, and many Al-Qaeda opperatives allegedly were trained in various things (piloting, engineering, etc)in the United States. Considering that this group was behind the tragedy of September 11, one would have to agree that either that the US military was hopelessly incompetent in foiling a "simple" terrorist attack OR that these terrorists are very irrational yes but certainly not stupid and they pulled off a horribly cold and calculated attack that involved considerable patience and planning (not to mention balls of steel, although I hate to give any credit to such a disgusting plan). I think that it is unlikely that the US military is that incompetent, or they would have been destroyed by now. By no means is this a personal attack on anyone who posted on this board, I think it is a very interesting discussion. Not to mention desperately wanting Calgary to win in 6...

Anyone catch 60 minutes a couple weeks ago? They were checking the security at chemical plants in U.S. Most have simple chain link fences and only security is at main gate. The 60 minutes folks walked into many through unlocked gates at various positions around the grounds. Walked around, took pictures, waved at workers walking by....nobody seemed to notice them. At one plant the guy climbed up on storage tank of deadly gas and sat there for two hours. Feel safe?

Think of this. There are only four main electrical power plants in the United States. Breaks the country into quarters. Take even one out. Completely out. No electricity at the local piggly wiggly for a few months? No air conditioning in the hotter states? No power at thousands of hospitals? First the sick die. Then the very young and the very old. Then the fight is on for the last loaf of bread. All the meat is spoiled at the grocers....quickly. Eco-system upset do to hunting for food. Americans are the best armed civilian population in the world. No food after very short period? No running water? Disease would set in very quickly due to unsanitary atmosphere. Take out our electricity, they won't have to kill us.......we would war amongst ourselves. Marshall Law would kick in. No liberties, shot on site for any wrong-doing activity. Fine line between what we take for granted everyday without giving it the slightest thought, and total chaos and anarchy.

Hey Dardadog, nice to see you getting more personal these last few days, I did see the t.v. show but I think I saw it about a year ago.

I figure most terrorist's saw it too and put it on their list of "things to do".

Smart move by the American media...

Hasmir Fleming,

My reasoning behind them being "not smart enough" is that they need a way to take credit for their killings, bombs, threats, ect, so cutting the electricity or trying to shut down the internet would be counter productive, and not really make much sense.

As Dadog said, it could and would kill a lot of people but as we've seen in the past, it only takes a few days to get the power back on. You guy's can last a couple day's..... can't ya ????? LOL

1st POST

GREAT THINKING!! Let’s hope the FBI, CIA, HLSD, DEQ, NRA, DPB, … oh heck, let’s hope Colin Powell & Condi Rice are reading your posts.

Hasmir makes good points. We cannot underestimate, or under-imaginate the Terrorist. Terrorists are smart!! Ooooo, like that new word? Underimaginate.

Me thinks Hasmir, the Gregdogg was pulling our tails. That’s why we don’t have them anymore.

The Terrorist leaders are extremely smart. Extremely creative. I have no doubt they have all these ideas and more up their sleeve.

I'm going out on a limb here, call me crazy, but what I write below has happened... and is happening now. WHY?? Terrorists claim the reason is simple, I believe along with many others, the motive is much more complex & devious then our leaders ever imagined.

I’ll do this in four posts so as to not overwhelm the server. Hopefully!

Some Palestinians & some Israeli’s will forever be at battle over that holy land as they have for thousands of years.

The modern terrorist used to target Israel, which was their beginning. Then they went after America because we tend to protect the underdog, and Israel was the underdog at the time. If Muslims had been the minority, we would have gone to their aid. As we did in Afghanistan...

Mr. Bin Laden got ticked-off in the 80s because he believed he would get to lead Afghanistan after America brought him into that war to help lead his fellow Muslims. He wanted to be the President of Afghanistan after the war, BUT America left Afghanistan so that it's own people could lead.

Bin Laden fumed in anger that America wouldn't place him in authority. But you see, unlike popular theory, modern America does not do that. We went to Afghanistan to help the Muslims keep the Communistic USSR from marching in, taking over, and controlling their country. America left when we thought the Afghanistan’s were capable of leading on their own.

The terrorists rely on their creativity... so here is creativity at work...

The terrorists rely on their creativity... so here is creativity at work...

In fuming & attacking small targets these past few decades, Bin Laden enlisted the aid of others. The leaders had to be smart, and they enlisted thousands of poor, depressed Muslims in search of something. Bin Laden and his assistants fed them 10% of the Korans teachings in order to turn them into "zealots" and complete followers of him.

Today... you have many of these trained "zealots" who think Bin Laden now moves too slow, if he is even still alive. While Bin Laden was educated in America and actually had some warm fuzzies toward Americans until we did not hand him rule of Afghanistan... he does not begin to have the truly vicious behavior of the young "zealots" he had trained & educated in "his" version of the Koran. 911 was cold, calculated, horrific. If Bin Laden is alive, he is extremely dangerous in his complete & all-consuming hatred for America.

Now these grown zealots, trained by Bin Laden & advisors, who came from nothing to "hate" Americans for who knows what reasons they were given by Bin Laden... are teaching the new class of "poor & depressed" Muslims seeking something... AND what these 2nd generation terrorists are teaching the 3rd generation is absolute barbaric terror.

They have completely lost site of Isreal other than that is an excuse to their fellow Muslims as to why they do what they do.

THESE ZEALOTS WANT POWER, THEY WANT TO RULE, THEY WANT ADULATION BASED ON FEAR.

In their zeal to remove westerners from the middle-east the terrorists:

1. Now savagely attack any foreigner, with no care to how many innocent Muslims die.

2. Terrorists have purposefully killed & maimed thousands of innocent Iraqi Muslims.

3. Terrorists have purposefully killed & maimed hundreds of innocent Turkish Muslims... Saudi Muslims... Israeli Muslims.

Why? To send all Westerners back home?

Now let's see, yes, there is a small percentage of westerners choosing to live & work in the Middle East.

The remaining westerners are American Soldiers in Kuwait, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia at the request of their Leaders. And yes, they are also in Iraq with coalition forces to rid the middle east of a crazy man, his malicious sons, and their proven link to Al Queda, along with other reasons yet to be proven.

Turkey & Saudi Arabia requested American Soldiers for training and defense before Saddam ever became a threat. Were they afraid of Iran? Likely. BUT could they also have known the true goal the Leaders of terrorism sought?

And if this is not the case, what is the Terrorists problem? Muslim leaders request our presence. What's the big deal?? Why don’t you just focus on the Israeli’s?

Aha, the light bulb turns on. This may be what the current Middle East Leaders know…

Aha, the light bulb turns on. This may be what the current Middle East Leaders know…

THE NEW GENERATION of Terrorists wants Americans & Coalition forces driven out from Turkey, Iraq, Saudi, and Kuwait... so they may control the Middle East. That's why they could care less if they kill & mutilate thousands of Muslims in their wake. Terrorist leaders know America protects countries & people. They want us out so the current Middle-East leaders & millions of peaceful, submissive Muslims will no longer have our protection. The terrorist pretend that Israel is the problem when in fact they could care less about Israel, as it is such a small part of their ultimate goal.

HELLO? MUSLIMS, AFRICANS, EUROPEANS, SOUTH AMERICANS, RUSSIANS, CHINEESE, JAPANEESE, NORTH AMERICANS… ANYONE OUT THERE?

TERRORISTS LEADERS WANT TO RULE THE MIDDLE EAST & ALL MUSLIMS.

And now America is in Iraq. Trying to leave an educated group of Muslim Iraqi citizens to lead their people. What's wrong with that?

Ah... the Terrorists want to rule the Middle East. They do not want educated people, ever, other than their own terrorist leaders. That’s why they kill & terrorize Iraq today. Educate & free Muslims? NEVER! Terrorists want the Muslim people to be in fear of, and submissive to them.

What a brilliant plan, take over Iraq while blaming the United States and their Allies. Plan with Saddam loyalists, use them... then use Iraq as a base to then savage Turkey, Jordan, Kuwait, Yemen, Saudi Arabia... Syria & Palestine will be easy takeovers, then slaughter all of Israel including any Muslim within, and finally turn on the Leaders of Iran to ensure THE true & vicious terrorist mentality rules Iran. Who knows if they will carve the Middle East into their own territories or leave the current boundaries for specific Terrorist leaders to rule.

Until finally, the entire Middle East is controlled by fanatical, narrow-minded zealots who have long since lost site of the other 95% of their Muslim faith. They only adhere to the 5% that speaks of death & rule by Muslims. The Terrorists have disregarded and thrown out 95% of what the Koran teaches them. That is why they have no emotions, no feelings, no love lost on their fellow Muslims who DO follow the majority of the Koran’s teachings.

TERRORISTS TAKE OVER THE MIDDLE-EAST BY REMOVING THE PROTECTION & COMPASSION OF THE AMERICANS & THEIR ALLIES.

MEANWHILE....

THE 4TH & FINAL POST IN THIS TICKERTOO SERIES ON THE TERRORIST'S ULTIMATE GOAL...

And while the terrorists deviously plot... they will continue their attacks around the world to keep us all at bay, in fear of them. To keep us away so they can rule the entire Middle East. AND THEN... well, use your imagination & a little brain power to take it from there.

The terrorists will keep mentioning our thirst for oil... that's why we poke our noses in the Middle East. But remember my post on oil? America has it's own surprise... and it started 30 years ago or so. It's called alternative fuels. That's why we strongly suggest to the Middle East to quickly begin to diversify your economy. Help educate everyone. The world will still need oil, but not to the same degree nor intensity as it has these past 100 years.

AND gosh darn it, America isn't leaving the Middle East for the terrorists to take over. SO THE terrorists will send more savage dogs to America in order to shake America’s resolve in helping free Iraq and in our assistance to protect the Middle East from terrorists..

That is why I believe, the war on Terrorism is so much more important than we can ever begin to imagine. Far-fetched? Wacko thinking? Or maybe time to smack our heads against the wall to see more clearly. Had America not been so blind & without imagination, we could have entered this war on Terrorism with eyes wide-open and swiftly slammed the door shut behind us.

Hindsight is 20/20?? The writings “been-on-the-wall” for decades. SOMEONE just forgot to pass the information along. SOMEONE didn’t think it important to pass along.

A few high-level American administrators who grasped the writing on-the-wall had just spent 8 years in the 1990s being laughed at, dismissed and tossed aside as being trivial people in a country going through a massive economic boom. An economic boom that was due solely and completely to 40 years of scientific, engineering & entrepreneurial BRILLIANCE culminating in THE TECHOLOGICAL REVOLUTION OF THE 1990’S.

Those few high-level administrators who were laughed at & dismissed in the 1990s should have screamed bloody murder to our newly appointed Presidents face rather then tip-toe through the White House Halls asking for permission to see the new President.

WE PAY DEARLY FOR THOSE LAUGHS & DISMISSALS TODAY.

I read that in the last 8 months, there have been three cases of highly classified materials (on nuclear technology) stolen from uh I hope I get the name right Los Alamos. Ya know, I have been poking around just on the internet for some info on how well American military installations are protected, as well as unpatrolled coastlines and things like that. Now if you are actually worried about al-Qaeda hopping on over again, you'd think this stuff would be important. As one senator commented, there is probably better security at a walmart than at many of these places. Anyone got a phone? Got internet? Free time? Obviously.

I don't know how accurate I am, however I do remember reading something about 80-90 nuclear warheads (or maybne a lot less, I just don't remember) that were stolen I think from the Russians in the late 80's early 90's. If I am remembering this correctly, nobody knows where they are. Now that is what worries me. What do they have a 13-mile radius, then the fallout for miles more? For decades the Japanese were affected. I think that would be the worst fate we can face. If our power plants were hit like daradog said, it would eventually be as he predicted. Lots and lots of backup generators are already in place though. Every hospital has them. The problem with that is it takes fuel, which is very expensive lately. More money down the tubes. The worst way they can hit us is to hit us financially. Being a capitalist society, that would hurt the most. Unfortunately anything on a large scale will hurt. However, on the bright side Americans work well together under bad circumstances. IMHO.

Hasmir, you didn't do very good DD on this one. In each case, the Los Alamos people were ON THE JOB. Inventories showed that files were missing, and in each case, they were found, misfiled. Happens all the time everywhere.
