Raven Biofuels International Announces Canadian Partner

Market Wire "US Press Releases "
ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/30/09 --
Raven Biofuels International Corporation
(PINKSHEETS: RVBF) ("Raven" or the "Company") is pleased to announce a
Canadian partner to advance its technology and develop Canadian projects.

Raven Biofuels Ltd. (RBL) is a Canadian Corporation established to develop
technologies for the production of biofuels and renewable chemicals in
conjunction with the forestry sector and pursue Canadian opportunities in
Bioenergy and Clean Technology. Under its proposed agreement with Raven
Biofuels International Corp (RBIC) RBL will pay RBIC a fee to be negotiated
for the exclusive rights to RBIC's technology ("the technology") for
Canada. RBIC and RBL will jointly develop the technology through to
commercialisation. RBIC has also contributed relationships and know-how for
fibre supply and a proposed site to build the first commercial scale
biorefinery in Kamloops, British Columbia, which will form a Joint Venture
(JV) with the Kamploops Indian Band (KIB) to be called the Tk'emlúps
Biorefinery. RBIC will further retain certain distribution and marketing
rights to the products made from the proposed Canadian refinery, advisory
fees and rights to participate in financing and as an equity partner. RBIC
has loaned an initial $170,000 to RBL in conjunction with the Tk'emlúps
Biorefinery JV to be used for initial studies, engineering and testing.

The proposed Tk'emlúps Biorefinery will require a continuous fibre supply
of 500 dry tons per day in order to produce its initial output of 11 MGY
(million gallons per year) of fuel grade ethanol and green chemicals as
well as lignin. It is planned that The Kamloops Indian Band (KIB) will be
the primary fibre supplier for the biorefinery. The biorefinery design will
be scalable to increase output once capacity is reached. It is anticipated
that the biorefinery will create up to 30 direct full-time jobs for the
community of Kamloops and a number of other indirect jobs in the forestry
and transportation sectors.

John Sams, President of RBIC, added that "Having a Canadian
Partner will accelerate commercialization of Raven's technology and ensure
the success of the Tk'emlúps project. There are many attractive elements to
the Canadian project that will be appropriately managed and operated from a
local level. Having the right people on the ground is the key to success."

The climate for Bioenergy in British Columbia is very proactive from the
municipal level up to the Government. The BC Bioenergy Strategy has
established $25 million in funding for a provincial Bioenergy Network for
greater investment and innovation in B.C. bioenergy projects and
technologies. Bioenergy is absolutely critical to achieving B.C.'s climate
goals and economic objectives. It turns the challenges of the mountain pine
beetle infestation into new opportunities and looks to future bioenergy
technologies. The Provincial Government's aim is for B.C. biofuel production
to meet 50 per cent or more of the province's renewable fuel requirements
by 2020, which supports the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from
transportation. The Raven Tk'emlúps Biorefinery JV is one of the projects
that could assist in meeting these goals for BC.

RVBF - News) ("Raven" or the "Company") would like to address its current direction and developments.

During the period of Q4 -- 2008 to Q4 -- 2009 Raven Biofuels has been devoting its resources to improving and enhancing its technology and advancing core projects. This includes a proprietary process to enhance the conversion of wood waste to ethanol and high value organic chemicals as well as a specific application for the Pulp and Paper industry. Raven's management has diligently improved and adapted its business model over the past year to best position the company for future growth.

John Sams, President of Raven, commented, "The company in the past year had to conserve its resources in order to advance during an unprecedented economic environment. Raven is committed to communicating regularly and renewing its public awareness."

Raven's goal is to become a leading commercial producer of fuel grade ethanol and high value chemicals to service the multi-billion dollar North American transportation fuel market. According to the US Energy Information Association, the United States alone consumes approximately 20 million barrels of oil daily that are refined into approximately 360 million gallons of gasoline, 200 million gallons of diesel and 80 million gallons of jet fuel. Government Initiatives are attempting to reduce the use of fossil fuels with cleaner renewable sources. The Energy Independence and Security Act, signed in December 2007 calls for 36 billion gallons of renewable fuels by 2022, of which 11 billion gallons must come from cellulosic, non-food ethanol.

The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 calls for $90 billion to be invested into clean energy technologies by 2025.

Raven has made multiple improvements to its technology and has moved the company into a stronger position. Raven has maintained and advanced proposed projects and relationships in the US and Canada.

With the recent Senate passage of the Renewable Energy Tax Credit Extension authorizing $400 million for clean renewable energy bonds, I think it's safe to say the 'Green' revolution is in full swing and the U.S. and all the industrialized countries are dedicated to changing the way all of us live and do business. But it's not only the Exxon's of the world that will be catalysts of that change, because it's a grass-roots revolution (if you'll forgive the pun) and small cap companies are the foundation.

Ethanol is a key component in the Global energy equation. Without it, gas prices will spike even higher! Every major developed country has a legislated mandate to blend between 5% to 15% of their transportation fuels within 5 years. The global ethenol market is a multi-billion dollar opportunity. In the U.S., 100% of the production of ethanol is commodity based (corn) and the global market consensus is that this has to change. Countries like China are banning or phasing out (Europe) or just distancing themselves (U.S.) from making fuels that compete with food.

There is one logical solution; cellulose based (wood, agricultural waste, municipal solid wastes, etc.) ethanol production. The problem is that no commercial production exists to fill the massive global demand. However the U.S. has recently announced $17 billion in funding for cellulosic biofuels technologies (read NY Times Article HERE)

Today's featured company, Raven Biofuels International (OTCBB: RVBF) is in the process of merging with Pure Energy Corp (see the news release below) and the result will be a small cap powerhouse in the renewable energy industry. We think you'll find this pure play renewable energy company both intriguing and timely.

Raven Biofuels Technology
Raven and its technology partners have been leading the charge to develop technologies and processes that will transform cellulosic waste biomass into renewable fuels. To date we have achieved the following milestones:

$24,000,000 invested in R&D
9 US patents in three principle areas; process patents for separating sugars to make ethanol and high value chemicals, fuel additives and diesel fuel mixtures.
21 International Patents Granted including Europe, Japan, China, India.
Extensive independent testing of technology since 1997 with conclusively positive results.
The technology that Raven has chosen to commercialize is based on Acid Hydrolysis and further proprietary technology which can produce high value specialty chemicals from agriculture waste products, hence reducing the production cost of ethanol below $1.00 per gallon.

The technology is based on a two stage dilutive acid hydrolysis process. It essentially works by breaking down bio matter, such as wood chips, corn stover, and sugarcane bagasse into primary sugar streams that are then converted into a suite of chemicals including ethanol. Raven management believes this technology is superior to other cellulosic production methods in use today.

Raven Projects
Raven will build, own and operate all of its own plants and will seek equity partners worldwide. Our technology has been tested for commercial operation and allows us to convert cellulosic waste streams (like wood and agriculture waste) into high value ethanol and derivative furfural chemicals.

Raven expects to build several bio-refineries over the next five years. Each biorefinery is being designed to produce an initial capacity of more than 10 million gallons per year (10 MPGY) of ethanol and high value furfural chemicals. We intend to significantly increase the initial capacity of our early biorefineries in future expansions. Our planned project is Mississippi would use local wood waste as feedstock. Our second project to be located in British Columbia, Canada is proposed as utilizing pine beetle infested wood for feedstock. This feedstock is readily available and unusable for other applications.

All of our production will come from cellulosic waste streams rather than expensive corn or sugar. Making renewable fuels from cellulosic materials can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions by over 80%.

Numerous other projects in North America and around the world are under development.

Cellulosic Ethanol
While many companies have attempted to produce ethanol from cellulosic (non-corn) waste feedstocks during the past 10 years, Raven has a proven technology that can successfully produce fuel-grade ethanol in commercial quantities. The process is known as “two-stage dilute acid hydrolysis.” Raven’s proprietary process works by breaking down biomass (agricultural waste products such as wood chips, corn stover and sugarcane bagasse) into three primary streams that are then converted into a suite of derivative chemicals, ethanol, and energy producing lignin. The chart below illustrates this process:

How it Works

STAGE ONE: After cellulosic feedstock is ground into a fine stream mass, it passes into a first stage acid hydrolysis process where it is treated with a weak sulfuric acid solution to separate residual xylose (C5 sugars). Since xylose does not easily ferment into ethanol, Raven’s patented process converts the xylose into a derivative chemical product (furfural) which can be sold into the petrochemical and biotechnology industries at significantly higher prices than ethanol.

STAGE TWO: The remaining feedstock is again treated with a sulfuric acid solution. The second stage acid separates glucose (C6 sugars) from the basic feedstock stream. The glucose is then subjected to a standard fermentation process which ultimately produces ethanol.

The final step in the process involves the utilization of lignin. Lignin is considered the “backbone” of all cellulosic waste material and represents only 15% by weight of the original feedstock, but contains about 80% of the heat energy content. Raven’s process takes advantage of this energy source by using high efficiency boilers to generate energy for the plant saving significant energy costs.

Market Wire "US Press Releases "
ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 01/06/10 --
Raven Biofuels International Corporation
(PINKSHEETS: RVBF) ("Raven" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the
company's objectives for Q1-2010.

Raven has two key projects in development today. Both projects are
commercial scale (11 MGY output) designed to be scalable for future
expansion. The first proposed project is in conjunction with Raven Biofuels
Ltd (RBL) in BC, Canada. The proposed biorefinery location is in Kamloops,
BC through a Joint Venture (JV) with the Kamloops Indian Band (KIB) called
the Tk'emlups Biorefinery Project.

Goals for this project in Q1 are:

-- Complete preliminary engineering study-- Conclude feedstock study-- Hire key personnel-- Finalize site agreements-- Initiate permitting-- Initial feedstock testing-- Initial feedstock supply agreements-- Sign initial off-take agreements for biorefinery products-- Secure additional public and private funding sources

The second proposed project is in Mississippi. Goals for the project in Q1
are:

-- Conduct feedstock study-- Initial feedstock testing-- Initial feedstock supply agreements-- Finalise site agreement-- Identify additional public and private funding sources

Management believes that there are efficiencies in pursuing both projects
simultaneously via shared information that can significantly reduce
engineering and testing costs. Further benefits may be realized on
purchasing of key components.

2010 is poised to be a defining year for the biofuels industry where
ethanol is estimated to grow to 8.9% of the motor fuel supply. It is
anticipated that the EPA will move the "blend wall" and grant a partial E15
waiver for 2001 cars and newer by mid-year that could affect over
50,000,000 vehicles. The EPA has stated, "Our engineering assessment to
date indicates that the fuel, engine, and emission control systems on newer
vehicles (2001 and newer model years) will likely be able to accommodate
higher ethanol blends such as E15." It will be difficult for the EPA to
gracefully backpedal from a statement like that. It is further expected
that later in 2010 the EPA will issue an "all automobile" waiver. Many
believe that these are key turning points for investment to flow into the
industry again. Companies that have managed their way through the last few
years and have improved their business models and technology will be
positioned to receive this next wave of capital.

With automobiles becoming more fuel efficient and renewable fuels being
developed, America is solidly on a path to energy independence. For the
first time in history, America is lessening its dependence on fossil fuels
and foreign oil. Energy independence is a matter of National Security and
now is officially a matter of public health and welfare. "GHGs are the
primary driver of climate change, which can lead to hotter, longer heat
waves that threaten the health of the sick, poor or elderly; increases in
ground-level ozone pollution linked to asthma and other respiratory
illnesses; as well as other threats to the health and welfare of
Americans," according to the EPA press statement.

Raven Biofules (OTCPK: RVBF) looks like it is setup to breakout and pass the 52-Week High.

After a strong rally initially, RVBF fell just marginally on relatively lower volume. But since then, RVBF has created higher bottoms and is poised for another breakout.

RVBF is trading well above the 50 and 200-Day EMA - and since the volume is rising - that is a signal that more buying could be coming.

Situation Stocks often put traders into solid profit opportunities.

I believe that RVBF could be one of those...because the Company has most of the fundamentals that get investors very excited.

It's what I call a "Story Stock" because it has a terrific story...in a sector that has lots of attention...with an opportunity that could generate many millions.

So, let's start with what I believe are some of the top fundamentals that many investors are attracted to and how Raven Biofuels relates to each factor.

Some of the Top Factors I Look for in a Stock...and How RVBF Relates to Them

#1. Proprietary Technology.
Some companies have unique, one-of-a-kind and patented, or patent pending product/service that are a dramatic improvement over the competition. That could be a catalyst for dramatic sales growth. RVBF has a patented ethanol technology that could become one of the leading choices in the industry.

#2. Solid Growth Potential.
A spike in sales could lead to a spike in share price. Clearly, if RVBF gets to the commercial production stage it's revenues are poised to skyrocket. The Company has already developed relationships that could assist in bringing to market its ethanol fuel and furfural bi-product.

#3. Stock is Trading at a Base.
Often times a stock that is trading at lower levels...such as when it is under the upper 20-Day Bollinger Band and has an RSI under 65...it could be ripe for accumulation. RVBF did come off a bit of a base on Friday and I believe has room to move. It made an impressive 30% gain on Friday suggesting that it could be poised to take off.

#4. The Lower the Stock Price --> The Bigger the Upside Potential.
Based upon experience, I agree with the philosophy that says, “it’s easier for a stock to move from $0.10 to $1.00 compared to moving from $10 to $100.” Even though each scenario provides 1000% returns, the amount of dollar volume and investor awareness that would normally cause a stock to trade from $10 to $100 would be significantly higher. Low priced stocks can provide mega returns for traders! RVBF is trading between 10 and 11 cents. It could be ready to move.
#5. Positive News Announcements.
When a company is releasing news, it's an indication that they're on the move. Last September an analyst report was issued that discussed the competitive advantage that RVBF has with how it develops Cellulosic Ethanol. Below it stated the following:

In the simplest terms, the technology utilized by RVBF results in faster reaction time than competing technologies, allowing RVBF to use lesser amounts of power and process materials, especially sulfuric acid.

The RVBF approach also utilizes continuous processing rather than batch processing . again creating an advantage in terms of processing speed and quantity of energy consumed.

To illustrate the magnitude of the differences among reaction times for competing technologies, RVBF estimates that a typical enzyme based ethanol production technology takes 7 days... a typical gasification technology takes perhaps 8 hours...and the RVBF two stage dilute acid process produces a reaction in 20 minutes.

That's a WHOPPING 12 times more efficient then the next best option!

RVBF: The Company's leading edge, patented ethanol production capabilities could help management achieve its goals of ulitimately producing enough much fuel that early entrants could make an absolute killing.

Quite simply, the demand for this alternative fuel is tremendous.

Just read some of the information below that indicates how strong the potential for this alternative energy fuel is:

U.S. Government reports state that there is enough renewable waste in the U.S. to create between 60 and 100 billion gallons of ethanol.
The U.S. currently consumes an estimated 150 billion gallons of gasoline.
The production of cellulosic ethanol could play a major role in America’s energy independence as it has in Brazil’s.
The U.S. Auto Industry has already manufactured an estimated 7 million flex fuel cars to run on E85 (85% ethanol) and most cars can run on E10 to E15 without modification. An estimated 2M Flex Fuels vehicles are being manufactured every year and 50% of new vehicles will take E85 soon.
Ethanol made from waste is a viable clean fuel that can play a part in reducing emissions that cause global warming and reducing America’s independence on foreign oil.
Ethanol is good for America’s energy security and economy

21 International Patents Granted including Europe, Japan, China, India!

Extensive independent testing of technology since 1997 with conclusively positive results!

Now, could you imagine fuel costs dropping to the $1.00 range?!

Well, the technology that Raven has chosen to commercialize is proprietary ...has been shown that it could produce high value specialty chemicals from agriculture waste products... and could reduce the production cost of ethanol below $1.00 per gallon!

What's impresses me so much about this healthy uptick is the fact that (1) sellers booked profits (2) share prices still increased (3) the dollar volume was only about $117,377....and that figure could increase.

That being said, if the dollar volume entering the stock continues to increase... then the additional momentum could significantly increase share prices

About two years ago there was a big push for corn-based fuel.
In fact, many of those types of stocks shot through the roof - until it was discovered that these food-based fuel alternatives were not generating as much benefit since they were causing a spike in food costs.
And that's when a wave of non-food-based green fuels entered the foray and became the new "hot" alternative measure. This is commonly referred to as cellulosic, or "Biofuels 2.0."
