Hey Guys- Found this Article on the web about GamezNFlix, looks like it was taken from the billboard article
http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/living/7822340.htm

New gameznflix.com to offer DVDs, video games
Billboard

LOS ANGELES - There's a new kid on the block in the online video rental world.

Gameznflix.com, owned by Franklin, Ky.-based holding company Point Group Holdings Inc. (PGHI), is launching next month offering DVDs and video games.

The service's business model is similar to that of Netflix, the leading online rental company based in Los Gatos, Calif. Users will pay a monthly subscription fee that enables them to receive DVDs or games through the mail. After a subscriber returns a title in an envelope with prepaid postage provided by gameznflix.com, another title from the rental selection list they have created is sent.

Netflix ended 2003 with about 1.5 million subscribers, a 74 percent increase over 2002.

John Fleming, CEO/president of PGHI, said that video game rentals will differentiate gameznflix.com from such competitors as Netflix and walmart.com, which only offer DVDs.

At launch, gameznflix.com will offer about 50 top DVDs and a full stock of games. According to Fleming, 99 percent of published video games, including such older titles as "Pong," will be available for rent.

Fleming would not disclose what the monthly subscription fee for gameznflix.com will be, though its veegeez.com offers plans that range from $19.95 to $39.95.

Yeah if you search for "gameznflix" on google, there's about 20 links and a few of them link to various news sources with the Billboard article. This thing is going around fast!

I listened to a radio talk show today which
discussed this stock specifically. Didn't
hear quite all of the show being busy with
working on one of our vacant rentals, but
did catch the major topics.

A concern metioned is consumer division.

One group of consumers would rather purchase
a DVD or pirate a copy, to avoid the hassle
of subscription rental fees and late fees.
They don't want to bother with returns.

Another group will support a subscription
service like this, if they watch lots of
movies per year and are not worried about
late fees nor bothered by returns of goods.

I find this an interesting comparison.

Did they discuss the fact they(GamezNflix)are carrying both games and DVDs? That had to make for interesting talk? Was there more than two groups? It seems both groups profiled go to the extremes. One would buy/copy, while the other would only subscribe if the interest levels where high. Very interesting indeed. -

Is there late fees with this kind of service? I was under the impression that the good thing about a service like this or Netflix is that you can keep a movie as long as you want as long as you keep paying your subscription fee.

I didn't catch all the radio show being busy
with physical work, mostly background noise.

Have to confess I haven't really investigated
this stock to any real degree. I am just
sharing what I caught on the radio, for
others here to discuss.

Those two groups of consumers, this does
seem a valid analysis of the market.

Game rentals, I don't think would fit well
into either of those two groups. Game rentals
would appeal to a younger audience, perhaps
predominantly teenagers spending parent's
money. Perhaps a good market there but a
limited market. College students and those
bound for college, I don't think would
be in this market for game rentals.

Late fees? I don't know for certain. This
radio show indicated this company charges
a late fee for slow returns. I really don't
know. Be sure, someone will let you know!

No. No late fees. And even though the "group" said they don't want to rent, and bother with returning DVD's, Netflix has close to 2 million people who DO. And as the CEO of Netflix said in a recent interview, they have barely scratched the surface.

Ok, I will read up on this stock and perform
some of my own research.

It is interesting this stock would be
mentioned on a radio talk show which is
actually all about computers and related
software, nothing to do with stocks.

The talk show host just made casual mention
while talking about renting DVD disks versus
buying DVD disks. Otherwords, he is not paid
to promote this stock, just coincidence. He
made no negative comments about this stock.

It is a bit of a positive to know this stock
is being discussed, off-the-cuff, on radio.
This radio show is on KFI, here in the west,
probably twenty to thirty million listeners,
maybe more; popular AM radio station.

Newstockpicker, it is impossible for your
"all this" to have been discussed previously.
Perhaps similar topics have been discussed,
but not these radio talk show comments.

This talk show was aired just this afternoon.

Perhaps you should pay more attention to
what is being presented here and the time
frame of events?

I posted this a long time ago but I will post it again since we are talking about piracy. Coyping videogames is not as easy as copying DVD movies. Those of you who are into gaming will confirm this statement!

If you want to copy a console game, you need to first modify your console by soldering or installing a MOD chip to bypass the copy detection.

Then you need to rip an image from the original disc and most of the time you need to find a patch on the net and patch the image before you can burn it on another DVD.

Only after all of that is done that you can put the copy in your console and see if you did it right, that is if you didn't fry your console while trying to solder the MOD chip to it! LOL

Oh yeah and the Gamecube uses a special format of disc that you can't find at the store!

GLTA!

I notice in my posts I forgot to mention
something which is nice. This talk show
host mentioned this company by name,
several times. In closing he made a
brief comment,

"...their stock is skyrocketing."

I am not sure I would agree with that but
certainly this caught the ear of some as
it did for me.

My original investigation into this stock
led me to label it "loser" stock. Maybe
this new acquisition will prove to be
a profitable company. I have yet to be
convinced of a bottom line net profit,
but I do now have a spark of interest.

I am concerned this is the only thing PGHI
has done right during its business history.

There are some negatives to be reconciled.

Purl Gurl -
I have read some of your posts and think that you know what you are talking about most of the time but, here I think you are wrong.

The average age of gamers is 29 years old. In 1990 the average age of video game players was 18; now it is 29. Overall, 2003 U.S. sales of console games totaled $5.8 billion (186.4 million units) while computer games accounted for $1.2 billion (52.8 million units) in sales. This is a 7 billion dollar market. We gamers are tired of buying at $50 a pop and then beating the game to never play it again. This market is not tapped into. The Hollywood Video by my house rents out 300 games a month!! Think of all the blockbusters and hollywoods that do this. Blockbuster video has over 8500 locations alone. This past year over one million consoles were sold. With the combination of DVD's and Video games we get both markets.
This data can be backed up at this site for all want to see about the video game market. http://home.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/index.jsp?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20040126005584&newsLang=en

What new acquisition? Where were you since September 2003? Veegeez has been acquired a long time ago and the CEO saw the future in the Online Videogame and Movie rental industry that's why PGHI decided to change their name to GamezNFlix and concentrate on that industry.

I remember reading your negative posts about PGHI on another thread, you're smart I give you that, but still a basher nonetheless, cheers!

Brada, I was around long before Pong, Atari
and Packman came out. So, yes, my viewpoint
on average age is most likely skewed by age,
my own age which I will not confess.

I would not argue against your point, being
of a different generation. There is no doubt
I am somewhat behind the times on video games,
and the age group of popularity.
