Originally posted by Purl Gurl: [QB] You can better see the cast iron headers and foot button starter. Took me eighteen months to collect all the engine parts for my husband. The headers are manufactured back in the fifties, found a brand new set. Offy intake, same time period but used. Rebuilt carbs, brand new cam but manufactured in 1955 year. Most difficult parts to find, new rod bolts. I had those made by ARP company. Cost a fortune. Alternator, A/C compressor mounts and throttle linkages are all custom made in our shop here at home. Most difficult part to replace, the transmission mainshaft bushing inside the end of the crank. We built a special sealed steel plate device, then pumped in hydraulic fluid to push the bushing out of the crank. Excuse the dust. Engine is covered with plastic, but that dust always finds a way in. When finished, 16 forward gears, 4 reverse gears, 2 speed auxillary transmission, overdrive and direct drive, 2 speed transfer case, underdrive and direct drive. Lots and lots of gears. Four gear shift levers in total, two original style floor handbrake levers, left and right rear for tractor steering should we become stuck. Actually, my husband's boy toy. Taha [/QB]
