It costs ~$2.75 to produce 1 gal. of ethanol. Fairly competative with current gas prices. That said, I don't see ethanol stocks going thru the roof unless sweet crude hits $90/$100 or > .

It's not simply about CTP, it's also about emmisions, efficiency, and the ability to produce from bio-materials, particularly biowaste. As new technologies emerge so will the appeal of this fuel source. Trucking fleets and city transportation departments are already converting to bio-deisels, ethanol, deisenol and E85 fuels. Many major cities outside of the US have been using these fuels for years. IMHO ethanol is a fact of life not a flash in the pan.

From the Greenpeace standpoint, I agree. Nevertheless, profitability is still a key stat and it won't drive up the pps until it is.
