Biogas Production Exceeds Expectations Tuesday February 1, 9:00 am ET
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, Feb. 1, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intrepid Technology and Resources, Inc. (ITR) (OTC BB:IESV.OB - News), a renewable energy company, announces that its biogas facility at the Whitesides dairy has achieved its production goal two months after starting up the plant. The flow of biogas significantly exceeds the 30 cubic feet per minute yield the company had predicted for the two-digester tank system. ADVERTISEMENT
This is a significant milestone in the company's business plan. Specifications for gas conditioning equipment, that will bring the Methane to pipeline quality, are now being established based on actual gas yields. Preparations are underway to begin using produced biogas as process heating for the digesters, eliminating the use of expensive natural gas.
Commercial production and sales of Methane gas will allow, from processing animal waste, ITR to rapidly become a leader in the burgeoning ``Methane to Market'' partnership that was formed in July 2004 when the United States and 12 other countries formed an alliance to encourage the recovery and use of methane as a clean energy source. Recovery of Methane gas from municipal landfills, coal beds and animal waste from dairy cows are the primary constituents of the partnership. Capturing Methane gas from animal waste is a significant opportunity in the United States considering there are 8,950,000 dairy cows, 11,000,000 cattle on feed, 60,000,000 hogs and millions of poultry currently existing in the U.S.
The purpose of the U.S. initiated Methane to Markets Partnership is to create international cooperation to advance the recovery and use of methane as a clean energy source and allow for energy security. Added benefits to the use of renewable Methane gas are, enhance economic growth, enhanced environmental quality and substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. The focus of the Partnership will be on the development of national strategies and markets for the recovery and use of methane through technology demonstration and deployment, identification of means to support private sector investment, implementation of effective and non intrusive policy frameworks.
The Partnership has the potential to decrease methane emissions by 50 million metric tons by 2015, the equivalent of taking 33 million cars off the road for a year or eliminating 50 coal fired electric plants. However it will impact more than just the environmental arena. The agreement opens the door for businesses with a leading edge in methane capture and energy production technologies. ITR is committed to becoming one of the first to reach this market in the U.S., through processing animal waste, and insure a significant competitive advantage.
Other partners are Argentina Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

Intrepid Secures Bond Financing Thursday February 3, 1:49 pm ET
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, Feb. 3, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intrepid Technology and Resources, Inc. (ITR) (OTC BB:IESV.OB - News), a renewable energy company, announces that the Industrial Development Corporation of Gooding County, Idaho has approved an Inducement Resolution for a maximum of $20 million bonds issuance for the company's biogas facilities. Industrial Development Corporations have the authority to issue bonds for projects that provide significant benefits to surrounding communities. ADVERTISEMENT
ITR will utilize the bond authority and low interest rates to finance facilities located within Gooding, Lincoln, Twin Falls and Jerome Counties. Those new facilities will be additional anaerobic digester plants designed for the production of methane gas, as well as a collection pipeline and gas conditioning equipment. ITR has just completed the first Methane production plant near Rupert, Idaho and will start on the second plant in spring near Wendell, Idaho.
The four Idaho counties covered by the industrial revenue bond are home to over 300,000 head of dairy cattle. The financing, if fully utilized, would allow ITR to place approximately 100,000 head of cattle into the production of Methane gas, a significant step in its overall business plan.
Dr. Dennis Keiser, ITR Chairman, noted that ``this type of tax exempt, below commercial interest rate financing, allows ITR an exceptional opportunity to expand and execute our business model and concurrently build our balance sheet and increase our revenue stream at a much faster rate than we would be capable of utilizing traditional financing.''
Gooding County is authorized by the provisions of law contained in Title 50, chapter 27 of the Idaho code to issue and have sold tax-exempt bonds that will generate economic benefits to the issuing counties that comprise the Industrial Development Corporation.

Intrepid Receives Grant For Alternate Fuel Station
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, Feb. 14, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intrepid Technology and Resources, Inc. (ITR) (OTCBB:IESV), a renewable energy company has signed a contract with the Idaho Department of Water Resources Energy Office whereby a $289,000 U.S. Department of Energy grant will be transferred to ITR to upgrade ITR's Idaho Falls alternative vehicle fuel Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station to a state-of-the-art Liquid Natural Gas/Compressed Natural Gas (LNG/CNG) facility.
The resulting LNG/CNG facility will support vehicles owned by the City of Idaho Falls, the Idaho National Laboratory and mass transit buses being delivered to California customers from their Minnesota manufacturer, as well as offer refueling potential for other fleets and individuals using natural gas Alternative Fuel Vehicles. The new facility will provide the only source of LNG fuel to travelers on Interstate 15 between Bozeman, Montana and Salt Lake City, Utah and will maintain a commercial outlet for CNG in the same area.
This upgrade will significantly improve the reliability and dispensing capacity of the station and reduce overall operating and maintenance costs for the system, as well as give ITR the ability to simultaneously service both LNG and CNG vehicles from a single location.
Aside from the commercial benefits, adding the LNG component to the operation also gives the Company practical hands-on experience dealing with the transport, storage and handling of LNG -- a critical strategic element of ITR's Biogas Production Business Plan. The third phase of that Plan calls for developing the capability of liquefying the natural gas produced at the larger dairy and feedlot biogas production complexes and providing that liquefied product to ITR's strategic alliance partner, Applied LNG Technologies USA of Amarillo, Texas, for distribution and sale throughout the Western US.

i don't know about the animal waste end of this biz-ness, and it sounds super cool, but - re: coal-bed methane, there is a sizable amount of devastation to the land at the production end. (i don't know what percentage of their operation is coal-bed.)
with coal-bed methane, a massssive amount of water is sucked out of the land, to get the gas. Wells go dry, & when the companies dump the water on the surface, it kills the vegetation. ppl in the region have always known you can drink the well-water but you can't put it on the ground. (calcium-magnesium ratio not ok) Mid-west full of angry farmers, who say, "you take care of the land it takes care of you".. and see the "methaners" as greedy evil f#@!##*!-wads ... just, fyi!
the coal bed methane gas is called "clean-burning." some see that as slightly Orwellian --it does "burn" cleaner, but if you look at the process from cradle to grave, it gets much lower marks...not so "clean". again, im just talking about coal bed. i don't have a clue about the cow-**** end of their business visavis environmental impact. could be it's the bomb. sure sounds good. & of course none of this means this stock won't make money ! ... of course... (smiley faces go here.)

Intrepid's Biogas Plant Processes First 500,000 Gallons Thursday February 24, 9:00 am ET
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, Feb. 24, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intrepid Technology and Resources, Inc. (ITR) (OTC BB:IESV.OB - News), a renewable energy company Intrepid Technology and Resources, Inc., a renewable energy company, announces that its biogas facility at the Whitesides dairy has processed over 500,000 gallons of manure in its initial month of operation. ADVERTISEMENT
The manure has been rendered into irrigation water and fed back into the dairy's lagoons for use during the upcoming irrigation season.
The process has proven reliable with improvements already made to the feed and control system. The hydrogen sulfide removal system, which was designed to meet pipeline gas specifications for the contaminant, has performed flawlessly. Concentrations of hydrogen sulfide are below the 4 parts per million requirements for use as pipeline gas. The company is currently procuring equipment to remove the last two contaminants required to achieve all pipeline specifications, namely water and carbon dioxide.
Gas from the biogas plant is now heating the dairy's hot water system and is producing an average excess of 43,000 cubic feet of gas a day from the two-tank system.
ITR's president, Dr. Dennis Keiser, commented ``We continue to develop a high level of confidence in our proprietary digester technology and see a clear path to make the biogas from the digester into pipeline quality gas for sale to a local gas utility.''
