That's change allright, change from what he was saying yesterday. Considering, just yesterday, he was asked if he supported Daschle he said, absolutely.

“Today was an embarrassment for us,” Obama said. He said he was “angry,” “disappointed” and “frustrated with myself” over the Daschle episode.

Then, you have Killefer. Killefer is the second major Obama administration nominee to withdraw and the third to have tax problems complicate their nomination.

Is this how ALL the politicians and other elitists think? They'll just use the workers to fit their overindulgent lifestyles...

What I don't understand is why Obama allowed Geitner to become treasury secretary. Daschle's tax mess could have been a mistake. I think it's at least believable that someone would not know that a friend providing them with a car and driver was a taxable event. However, Geitner's offense seemed much worse, being a premeditated decision to not pay the taxes, even when his employer told him that he owed the tax!

At least Obama woke up and finally put the nix on Daschle and Killefer. He knew that this wasn't consistent with the "change" he had been promising. I also give him credit for admitting that this was an embarrassment.

Now, the next big test is to "change" the current pork bill into a REAL stimulus package that will actually create come private sector jobs.

in politics? you always start off asking for more than you want, then you give back what you don't want and the other side feels like they won something...

start off just asking for what you want? and you won't even get that [Wink]

It isn't so much that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so many things that aren't so.

I work for the IRS which is under the treasury. I had some minor tax problems (I didn't make enough money at that time to have major ones lol) when I got hired and I was told the policy is that your tax problems must be resolved before you accept employment. I'm sure this is a sweeping policy for the treasury. Based on this policy, all Geitner would have to do is settle his tax problem before taking office. From what I understand, he has settled this. Even if he agrees to an installment plan his tax problem is considered resolved. I would only have a problem with Geitner if more problems popped up later.

I can understand this policy for the average employee, but Geitner is being asked to run the whole show. I'd expect a little more from him.

It's too bad because they're picking the "Cream of the Crop" based on credentials for these positions. Anyone that follows is second best. The pool is only so big and then what??

Politics and political life should be, and should have always been about accountability first and foremost. You make a campaign promise, keep it. Integrity second, to truthfully explain why a mistake was made and move forward, hopefully with the backing of the people. If you can't follow the rules then stay out of the game.

But we let the politicians change the rules over the years and now we fight and b*tch about crap cause that's all the power we have left.

They are so far out of touch with the people that they can "do no wrong". They have been in the game so long that they forget the sh*t they did was against the laws the rest of us have to follow. And we have to pick one of “them” for our leader.

Political office should be a million dollar job. We need great people that can pass the interview process and then provide the transparent results. Take away all the perks and expenses and let them spend what they want to impress "the people" for their next year in office. I agree when they get up there they need more money but make it public.

Hey, what about a personal\PUBLIC web diary for everyone in "office" to enter their daily expenses, deductions, donations. Why wait to show the people. If you’re working for "us" then prove it! Don't tell us that we "wouldn't understand" about this or that.

Just north of Toronto is a mayor who, two or three times a month, takes her assistant out for lunch and always buys a $100. bottle of wine and thinks that's ok. Not potential investors or corporate companies but an assistant.

She has sued members of the council for them trying to investigate her. It is all tied up in court with the whole bunch of them not working together and going no where. She is only on the second rung of the ladder and she has that kind of attitude!

We were in trouble when we let the banks own the money and that was a long time ago.

I don’t care if Ricky or Donny or Joey runs my country as long as he passed the test and I can see what he is doing. And if I \ majority, “the people” don’t agree then he is out, quick.

Elections cost a lot of money but how much did GB cost you in the last four years?? He proly wasn’t supposed to be there anyway.

Wow, I was supposed to write my mom but you guys got me going……….
