That's change allright, change from what he was saying yesterday. Considering, just yesterday, he was asked if he supported Daschle he said, absolutely.


“Today was an embarrassment for us,” Obama said. He said he was “angry,” “disappointed” and “frustrated with myself” over the Daschle episode.


Then, you have Killefer. Killefer is the second major Obama administration nominee to withdraw and the third to have tax problems complicate their nomination.

Is this how ALL the politicians and other elitists think? They'll just use the workers to fit their overindulgent lifestyles...

What I don't understand is why Obama allowed Geitner to become treasury secretary. Daschle's tax mess could have been a mistake. I think it's at least believable that someone would not know that a friend providing them with a car and driver was a taxable event. However, Geitner's offense seemed much worse, being a premeditated decision to not pay the taxes, even when his employer told him that he owed the tax!

At least Obama woke up and finally put the nix on Daschle and Killefer. He knew that this wasn't consistent with the "change" he had been promising. I also give him credit for admitting that this was an embarrassment.

Now, the next big test is to "change" the current pork bill into a REAL stimulus package that will actually create come private sector jobs.

in politics? you always start off asking for more than you want, then you give back what you don't want and the other side feels like they won something...

start off just asking for what you want? and you won't even get that

I work for the IRS which is under the treasury. I had some minor tax problems (I didn't make enough money at that time to have major ones lol) when I got hired and I was told the policy is that your tax problems must be resolved before you accept employment. I'm sure this is a sweeping policy for the treasury. Based on this policy, all Geitner would have to do is settle his tax problem before taking office. From what I understand, he has settled this. Even if he agrees to an installment plan his tax problem is considered resolved. I would only have a problem with Geitner if more problems popped up later.

I can understand this policy for the average employee, but Geitner is being asked to run the whole show. I'd expect a little more from him.
