Congress overwhelmingly passed the road bill, with all it's pork.
Special interests will feed at the trough and Joe and Jane Citizen will foot the bill of tax money waste.
Bush threatened to veto it but will not do it since congress would over-ride his veto and make him look weak.
This happens all of the time.
All government is evil - modern day feudal system where the King (president) and court (elected oficials, bureaucrats, government workers, and special interest contributors who get back much more than they contribute) exploit the peasant tax payers. Road building should totally be a state matter and not a national concern.
The solution is much less government - do away with all welfare, reduce regulations and let the buyer beware in protecting themselves, and have government focus on protecting citizens via the judiciary and defense of the nation. Also shift government responsibilty more to the local and less to the national level - let that senator who wants a multi-million dollar project in his home state try to get his/her state's taxpayers to pay for it instead of robbing the national taxpayers for his pet project.
Instead government expands as fast as the universe.
This will reverse itself in an implosion some day.

The US is the only place where 2 wrongs make a right. For example, the miranda rights. If I confess to a murder and I am not read my rights I am pretty much free. Doesnt it make more sense to punish the police officer who did not read me my rights then to set me free???

First Glassman proposed going after employers of illegal aliens rather than trying to track down all illegal aliens thenselves - much easier. However, we would also have to deny all welfare to illegal aliens otherwise they don't have to work while here, unless of course they are criminals (which someone pointed out: they all are by virtue of coming here illegally).
Now mirandizing eveyone who drives, and nearly all criminals drive with a license (illegal aliens are again the exception).
Great ideas. Too good for the congress to ever adopt, however.

first glassman is right about going after employers 99% of why an illeagal alien comes to this country is because somebody will give him a job that somebody is breaking the law and an honest businessman cannot compete with them. and i am not talking about unskilled work either. electrical plumbing carpentry and many ther skillsthat all keep wages low and millions of our dollars going to south of the border. and not into our economy. if you would like take my neighbor a contractor he feels he should pay very little if any income tax hires 99% illegals because he gets them cheap and pays them under the table and he considers him self a good american i feel he is a criminal and should pay for his actions. but law enforcement in the state of az turns a blind eye to his type. how about all the indians and other foreigners in computer science (IT)? I feel wages have been kept low because they get the jobs. However, they are here legally on work visa. And, many americans cant get jobs or wages lower due to foreign talent WILLING to take any wage?
I have no problem in othrs/ working here but this is america and americans should come first. but, the dollar and greed speak in life.
This land is your land..this land used to be mine. Where are my rights as an american? I have to pay taxes for the illegals and then other foreigners keep wages lower for me or they get the job cause they will take any wage.
I think we should definitely put americans first...protect our borders, stop paying the illegals benefits with my hard earned money... keep a limit on who can work here.

How many of these illegals would fight and protect the usa? How about the foreign workers? Would any defend and protect usa, our way of life or are they simply parasitic?
How many criminals are illegals? Life is a joke. I thought the american dream is to work so YOU could better yourself and not the illegals, etc......
