Art: Hitler was furthering Germany's interests up to the point that he got rid of the Jews and invaded Russia - he went too far. His killing of the Jews hurt Germany's war effort - he could have won WW II if he had accepted the Jews as valuable members of the nation, as the Jewish scientists and engineers would have given him advanced weaponry needed to win WW II in spite of Hitler's catastrophic military decisions. Hitler's popularity among the German people was high but then begin to decrease from the point he invaded Russia.
It is good to laugh at reality, unless you misperceive it as not real, then that is crazy.

First off, I'm not religious in the least. I don't believe in any "higher being" cr@p.
Next, that's just wrong to say something like that. Anytime ANYONE dies they deserves a certain amount of respect. Please give him his due and stop badgering him. True or untrue. It doesn't matter. Morn his death and let him RIP. Hang your head in shame....

Art: Hitler did no good and was evil, from the moral perspective of those he hurt. Hitler was great (up until he invaded Russia), from the moral perspective of most Germans.
Which Hitler did nothing correct? From whose moral perspective?
Hitler hated the Jews and thought they were exploiting Germany. He killed them because of this hatred - robbing them in the process was just good business for Germany, in Hitler's view, but was not Hitler's primary motivation to kill them.

hitler needed something to unite germany. he chose the jewish people as a means to an end. unite the people in a cause which makes them feel superior and you can lead them anywhere. sound familar?

glassman: my recollection of NAFTA is that it was coneived of and implemented by "conservatives" and that doesn't include the trade deals set in place with China(also a "conservative" agenda)....i think you need to lose the lib/con stuff...it seems a little "dyslexic" to me....

Trade deficit is 2nd highest ever By Martin Crutsinger, Associated Press WASHINGTON — The U.S. trade deficit climbed to $58.3 billion in January, second-highest level in history, as Americans' appetite for foreign consumer products and automobiles hit record highs.
The deficit with China was pushed higher by a surge in textile shipments, reflecting the end of global quotas.
The Commerce Department said Friday that the January trade gap was 4.5% higher than December's $55.7 billion deficit and was just below the all-time high monthly high of $59.4 billion, recorded in November.
For all last year, the trade gap surged 24.3% to $617.1 billion, a record for the third straight year. Analysts believe 2005 will also set a record, reflecting higher prices for imported oil and continued heavy demand by U.S. consumers for imported goods.

so, we borrow as much money as we can from the rest of the world....(esp. China) increasing interest rates makes loaning to US more attractive....
and then we default on it...works for third world countries.... i'm not sure how that plays out for the average consumer tho...esp. in real estate...
one thing i am sure of, a weak dollar is good for US overall... it means we can get more industrial capacity...
