How big is the deficit now?? Are we borrowing money from China???

The unreal thing is the folks who are today using a honda!

if we begin forcing China to COMPLY with intellectual property laws, that would be a start...

I do believe that it will be paid off. Part of the key to success is promoting exportation of goods. The more our country remains in a position to profit from global trade the more our economy would grow. The question should be, will the economy grow fast enough to keep people from abandoning the dolar?

what goods are we going to export?

Well if glass would spend less time on this board and more time at his work it could be glass products. hehe lol

what i am seein' is people "filling up" the empty space around their house with pier one $hit.....
and after the bills are paid? i don't get paid.... Louis Comfort Tiffany NEVER turned a profit either.... his family subsidised him...

some pretty smart people say the best way to judge a society is to observe how well they support their artists.....
i guess you have to define art first.....
but the truth is, if you have an hourly wage job, you can't afford my work
i just noticed that one of my designs from '98 showed up on a national brand jewelers TV ad.... made in China.....sold here....

Well glass the blame there falls on all of our shoulders and me too. I try to by American but sometimes I just can't find it or afford it. I'm sure your products (art) are a lot better than what their buying at other places. All that other stuff from pier one will be is just stuff not art. It really puzzles me though that the people that complain the most will complain and then jump into their Suzuki or Honda or whatever. Makes one wonder about them.

agreed, and i am not bitter.... i do glass because it's a passion... i COULD work as a factory glass-worker..there are a few around..... but my wife IS a research scientist and her star is on the rise.... it is very rare for two poeple with such diverse interests to find a common ground where both can thrive.... oddly enough Washington State was on the top of our list for both of us...but it didn't work out out...and it would have meant living within 100 miles frrm Mt St Helens...so things do happen for a reason, and i am not too miserable about waiting a little while longer....my designs are still growing in my head, and i expect to have a new studio up and running before toooo long... i will still have to trade to make sure my retirement is secure...and guess what? i will be doing my glass until i can't stand up anymore....no lie...LOl

you want to hear something REALLY weird? if my wife and i moved to China, we could both become extremely wealthy very quickly....

I'd like to see some of your work, Glass! I know I could never afford it, but I like to look at art! I've been getting strange emails too; I just never open them and delete them right away!
