On May 30th of this year, my portfolio was the highest it ever had been. I foolishly did not take heed to warnings to "Sell in May and Go away", and by July 30th, I had lost (on paper)over 13% of my portfolio. (this was my entire portfolio including stocks and mutual funds)Ouch, that hurt.
Since July, though, have been slowly working my way back up. Because I am now a bit gunshy, many times, I often take profits "too soon", and often my stop losses are set too tight, but little by little over the past few months I've taken profits and reinvested. On Friday, I am happy to note, that I my portfolio is now a few hundred higher than it was on May 30th. I am now BACK ON TRACK!!
My motto is going to be this quote from J.P. Morgan
"I made all my money by selling too soon." J. P. Morgan
