ok ive traded nasdaq which has a very fast execution time, since nyse and amex exchange differ from nasdaq are orders much slower? Also, is there a share limit, for instance ive heard if you order more than 3,500 shares your order usually takes a while. Is that true for nasdaq or just nyse?

execution time imo has nothing to do with the exchanges themselves in that one exchange is not faster then another.... all have electronic executions (NYSE has the SuperDot System)... and speed imo has to do with several factors like how many orders are in front of you, MM's,size of your order etc.. etc...

NASDAQ, AMEX, AND NYSE only take a few seconds to go through for me...BIG BOARD stocks always have quick fills

NYSE has an autoex function too. at the bid/offer orders of 1099 or less would execute auto. don't know about the other exchanges
