Per posts today from Ric, LilPenny, Jerry Medved, and others I downloaded Quotetrader. I know Jerry gave the support e-mail address for QT, but those that are experienced with the system could possibly help us set parameters, etc. better than the site that will probably want to remain neutral. LilPenny and Ric, please guide us through set-up(icluding whether or not to give them your account #'s and passwords, links to this and that acct, etc.). KBPKT, myself and others would appreciate your help. Thanks, Terry

As far as account and password, I had problems with entering them myself. I turn on my spywares and winpatrol and went for it. I didn't catch any cookies or spyware with what I had to check against.
Saying that, I haven't had no trouble with giving my ameritrade information.
I just setup my actual and watch in one portfolio so the daily data streams go into all my favorite stocks to watch. If you maintain more then one portfolio it only automatically update the portfolio your looking at.
Just right mouse click in the streaming field to pull up quick menu. When setting up Historical charts picking your upper and lower indicators you can right mouse click and select "set as default and reset all" to apply this to all stock symbols.
You can move the colums and rows by grabbing the field and moving them to the way you like it, also resize you will need to do that on the volume for sure.

If you ever want to copy your portfolio to another computer, you can get that file by going to the quotetracker folder in program files and copy the file port.xml

im a newb to the pennies, looking for a platform to trade on, and was wondering what some of the benefits (benefits, disadvantages, cost, etc) are? I currently have an ameritrade account so im guessing it won't be a problem to link the two together. Is it comparable to MicroTrade's system (otccharts)?

Nothing like that. Its a streamer with extras, just a self contained program. Benefits is its easy, fast, and can link to your ameritrade account. Its free with a banner. When you use Ameritrade, you have to log in to ameritrade launch the java window then the streamer and if you wait till right at opening half the time you can't log in. I also had problems with level II right when I needed it the most. I haven't one time had trouble with this program even when Ameritrade was acting up. You want know the true benefits until you try it and get familiar with all its features.

RN- Thanks for starting this thread, I just saw it. I have been messing around on quotetracker all day trying to learn how to use it to its full extent. I already like it better than the Scottrader one I was using. I still have a lot to learn about it. Anyone who uses it and has some suggestions is much appreciated. Thanks again everyone who helped.

And that way the new one will be the only one at the bottom of the page.

When setting up alerts make sure to create a new email template (last tab on the alert page). You can even use your cell phone email address if your carrier does that and you can get it directly to your cell phone. You will want to set up more then one alert for each stock you own if you want a specific high and low to alert. You can also set up multi high or low alerts.
I usually leave it running 24/7. Alert only sent if the program is running and internet on. It minimizes to systray and don't even notice it running. That way it will get new data feeds automatically thoughout the day when looking at the raw data feeds.

Basically, not one single problem in the 6 years we have been doing this. Login info stays on your computer. It is never sent to our servers. We can turn our servers off and QT will still function.
Ameritrade - Please note, if you use Norton Internet Security 2004, well, it sucks. It interferes with Ameritrade streaming datafeed pretty badly at times. This is a Norton issue, not Ameritrade, and regardless of you accessing the streaming data in QT or direct on amtd site
Always remember - if you are not sure how to get to something - right click. You can do it just about anywhere in QT - on charts, quotes, Level II, Raw Data, News, etc,.
Also, QT has pretty detailed help. Hit F1 on any screen to get help for all the features on that screen. We try to keep the help file up to date.

I also use Scottrade for the data feed. Note that you can use more that one feed for each portafolio.
If you look under data source site you will notice 3 choices for scottrade, clients, free and brokers. I registered for a free account with scottrade at their site and I used that for my watch list. I use my client account info for my other portafolio.
The reason for this is that the more symbols you have in the portafolio the longer it takes to download the data, by the way change the refresh time from 60 sec to 5 secs.,
That way you will have a more acurate data and faster data downloaded to your watch list.
On alerts I set the daily high price alert so that when a stock start to move up you will know each time a daily high is reached a pop up alerts gets triggered.
I hope this helps.

Jerry, Just wondering. I have XP on one computer and ME on another. I can open more than one Raw Data window with XP but only one with ME. Is this a windows issue or is there a way to open more than one Raw Data window with ME that I don't know about?

I know this one, lol. Go to Options DataSource/proxy and under the Quote tab on the bottom right hand corner is a box to check for multi raw data feed.

For some reason, they don't have E*Trade Canada in the list. Tried E*Trade US... but can't log on. I'll have to use a 'free' account from another broker I guess. salemm.

E*Trade Canada asked to be removed.
We do have clients using E*Trade US with their E*Trade Canada accounts to track US securities. It should work. Check if you can login with your Canadian User ID/Pass at: https://us.etrade.com/e/t/home
If that works, but not in QT, email support@quotetracker.com indicating that

Might have to restart but also they will stack on top of each other too. Also I found out for those who use Ameritrade that if you use Ameritrade real time instead of Ameritrade Streamer (use Ameritrade Streamer) you may be getting invalid Raw Feed Data.

Ric, it seems that Ameritrade snapshot quotes are returning bad volume data at times. Basically the volume is supposed to always increase, and their quotes sometimes have lower volume than previous. Not a problem it seems in the streaming quotes. Posts: 46 | From: Austin, TX USA | Registered: Aug 2003

I was just doing a search on lowtrades, my broker, I came across a link that says that lowtrades streaming quotes and trading was supported by Ver 3.01.
I have the newest version 3.05. Is lowtrades supported in this version?
If so, how can use lowtrades for data feed and trading?
thanks

Unfortunately, Lowtrades is no longer supported. Hasn't been for a while. As for the versions, I hope you mean 3.5.5, right? 3.0.5 is verion old
