Anytime the SEC has gotton involved with these companies the shareholders always lose. I have yet to see a situation where we win. I wish SEC would really do there job and have the power to close a company that has scammed its shareholders and force them to sell the business and give the proceeds to the shareholders. Also put these CEO's in jail. Maybe this will begin to help the problem.

I like your thinking however the sad fact is that the VAST majority of pinksheets have NO ASSETS witch could be sold off, just debt and worthless property leases or outdated equiptment and software if anything at all. and IF they DID have something they could sell by the time creditors and suppliers were paid off thier would be NOTHING left for common share holders!! jail time would be great! if these B/S CEO`s and directors started getting locked up this crap would end quick!!! IMO!

SEC cracks down on spam-driven small stocks Thursday March 8, 11:10 am ET By Karey Wutkowski
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Securities and Exchange Commission suspended trading on Thursday in the stocks of 35 small companies linked to spam e-mail campaigns urging small investors to buy shares.
ADVERTISEMENT click here The SEC said it launched an enforcement effort to protect investors from potentially fraudulent spam e-mail promoting small company stocks with phrases like, "Ready to Explode," "Ride the Bull," and "Fast Money."
"It's estimated that 100 million of these spam messages are sent every week, triggering dramatic spikes in share price and trading volume before the spamming stops and investors lose their money," the SEC said in a statement.
The SEC said the stocks halted typically sell for less than $1 per share and are quoted on the Pink Sheets quotation service. The trading suspensions began on Thursday and will last for 10 business days, ending at noon on March 21, the agency said.
In one spam campaign involving Apparel Manufacturing Associates (Other OTC:APPM.PK - News), the SEC said the company's stock closed at 6 cents on trading volume of 3,500 shares on Friday, December 15, 2006.

Two days later the APPM price climbed to 45 cents. However, by December 27, 2006, the price had slumped to 10 cents on trading volume of 65,350 shares, the agency said.

There should also be stronger regulations on these companies. They should not be allowed to start a business with 100 billion shares so they can dilute and screw the shareholders.

imo this will send those applying in this venue a few extra steps further. nice timing. suspiciously timed if you ask me. but I always do like a good conspiracy.
"New York, NY - March 5, 2007, 2007 - Pink Sheets, LLC today announced that it has launched two premier market tiers in the U.S.-OTCQX and International OTCQX-for reputable operating companies that wish to create enhanced visibility and respectability with investors.
The OTCQX primary trading PremierQX and PrimeQX designations identify U.S. companies with ongoing business operations that have professional advisors and provide credible disclosure to the marketplace, including U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) compliant financial statements audited annually. International OTCQX offers the International PremierQX or International PrimeQX designations to non-U.S.-based companies listed on a qualified international stock exchange that make their home country disclosure available in English to U.S. investors.
"We are excited to give the OTCQX designation to our initial group of companies that have completed the application process." said Cromwell Coulson, Chairman and CEO of Pink Sheets, LLC. "For some time now, reputable issuers on the Pink Sheets have asked us to find a way to recognize their efforts to provide credible information to investors. OTCQX is our answer to that request with a simple listing process that allows trusted companies to efficiently distinguish themselves. Today, we begin an exciting new market tier that makes it easy for investors to identify and research the companies that are worthy of their consideration."

This is just the beginning imo, I think that by the time they are done a few hundred could be suspended. I would be very cautious about buying any Pinks right now.

I think these stocks should come under the same rules and regulations as the big board stocks. If a company cannot afford these costs they shouldn't be trading as a public company.

LOL! Press release from DCBI ----------------------------------
DC Brands International: CEO Responds to 10 Day Halted Trading Thursday March 8, 2:14 pm ET
DENVER, CO--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 8, 2007 -- Today, DC Brands International (Other OTC:DCBI.PK - News) answers questions concerning their halt in trading. The company's President & CEO Richard Pearce said, "We want to stay up front on this. We are still trying to figure it out ourselves.
What we have learned from a report on the *** 'Market News 1st' website is that the SEC launched 'Operation Spamalot' today looking for spammers and the company's involved with and/or paying for spamming in order to artificially promote or increase stocks prices.
I want to say first and foremost that the SEC is doing exactly what they should be doing, their job. If they are looking for fake cures for cancer companies, those that have paid spammers or other forms of stock promoters to market their stocks, then I only ask that they bring their largest magnifying glass and shine it on us first; because we are 100% legitimate. When you consider the dramatic increase in our volume and stock price, I am the first to say we do fit the profile. However, we are not guilty. That's like saying the police are looking for someone 6'2" 220lbs with blonde hair and blue eyes, who robbed a liquor store. I and a million other people fit that basic profile. It does not mean we are not 100% innocent and the sooner and faster and more thoroughly you cooperate with the authorities, the sooner you can be vindicated and remove yourself from under the vale of suspicion.
The only thing we have ever paid for is the cost of the press releases themselves. I ask that they visit our facility, drink our products, call every source of every news story we have released, talk directly to the parties involved, and look through all our records. We are an open book and guarantee full and complete cooperation. From what I understand, this will last 10 trading days during which we should be asked to sign some affidavits and provided the necessary documentation in which we are ready, willing and able to do.
Again, the SEC is only doing their job, and we believe, as a fully legitimate company, we will be given a 'clean bill of health' and come out stronger than ever. We ask that our shareholders hang with us and let them do their job. Again, we will cooperate fully and completely to rectify this situation as quickly as possible. In the mean time, we will stay focused on selling our drinks to our thirsty customers and let the lawyers handle this portion of the process."
