I've seen this acronym used all over the message board, but I'm still unsure as to what it means. Could somebody please explain it to me? Thank you in advance.

MM's means Market Makers.... they are brokers/dealers... they buy/sell stock for their own clients and also for their own accounts... Goldman Sachs is a example of a MM... MM's are usually in the Nasdaq market and as the name implies they "Make a Market" for certain stocks.. buying on the "bid" and selling on the "ask" ...

Speaking of buying and selling. Does a person always have to buy a stock at the asking price and sell at the bid price? Thanks....
