Ambient's X2 product line integrates 200-Mbit Generation 2 technology from DS2 in a unique, proprietary design which provides up to three BPL interfaces to supply unprecedented levels of BPL bandwidth, combined with optional gigabit Ethernet, direct fiber connections, and 802.11a/b/g wireless capabilities.

X2 nodes are available with an optional backup battery and integrated low-voltage capacitive coupler. The X2 includes an integrated NEMA-4 enclosure, providing both indoor and weather-resistant outdoor capabilities in a reduced form factor. X2 nodes can be installed in pad-mount, pole-top, and wall-mount locations.

Additional advanced sensor and utility applications will be available for X2.

I've been long on this for a while. Their products have already been used in some Con Edison facilities but I'm waiting for that big break.

I've been watching this sector for some time. BPL is interesting but not a slam dunk yet. I live in a rural area and would love to have broadband at a reasonable price. No DSL or cable available here. Satellite is a joke. But wireless is very close.

It seems to me that the power companies could provide wireless at a lot less cost and aggrevation than BPL. They already basically have 'towers' everywhere and power is a given.

But I will continue watching BPL for trading opportunities.
