Well obviously I am used to selfish alcoholic mentality so you nice folks fit the bill pretty well. I asked nicely, but obviously liquor and selfishness make the world go round, so have at it.

Funny I have 79 posts on this board, but if you're not "in the club" you don't get acknowledged.

Anyway, I realize I am wrong for messing with your fun. Isn't that what it's all about with all you addicts?

Well, toodleloo.

If you want the alcohol conversation stopped, make sure to also go to every corner bar and every gas station, grocery store, liquor store, and restaurant and tell them that you have a loved one in rehad so they need to stop what they are doing.

There is nothing selfish about the conversation they have going on in here, it is harmless. Just because they mentioned alcohol in some way doesn't mean they are raging alcoholics. If anything, you are the selfish one-trying to get everybody to conform to your wants.

Alcohol is everywhere why can't it be here?

I wonder if our one time consultant Mr. Marcovsky had anything to do with us hooking up with Zephyr? Is he possibly still a consultant?

Durst:

Heather Durst : Vice President [email]
Heather Durst began her career at Nostalgia Television in the early 1990s and rose to Director of Paid Programming & Direct Response. During her tenure she doubled Nostalgia Network's revenue and greatly increased its roster of clients.
Heather joined Zephyr Media in its early days and helped expand the company as an Infomercial and Direct Response Agency, and to spearhead the development of its New York operation. She has been involved in making Zephyr Media the exclusive representative of the Classic Sports Network and Burley Bear Network among others for direct response sales. In addition, she has been instrumental in obtaining the exclusive representation rights for all Direct Response and Infomercial placement activity on a number of television station and cable networks. Her reputation in the station industry as a hard working, revenue and result-producing representative is widely acknowledged.

Marcovsky:

Nostalgia axes CEO Marcovsky
Jay Greene
Jan 31, 1994

Nostalgia Network Inc., in the midst of a takeover fight, fired its chairman and chief executive late Thursday.

Michael Marcovsky was removed after a lengthy board meeting in New York, where company directors effectively ceded control of Nostalgia to a special committee of directors established to sell the company.

Marcovsky was replaced as CEO by Frank Jett, Nostalgia's president, and as chairman by Gerald P. Carmen, a director and one-time U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva. Jett and Carmen are both on the special committee and are the directors working most closely with the New York investment bank Allen & Co. to find a buyer.

In a press release issued from his lawyer's officer, Marcovsky blasted the board's move, saying he is "profoundly concerned" about the ability to get the highest possible price for the company.

Nostalgia, a money-losing cable channel, went on the market last fall, when Pat Robertson's Intl. Family Entertainment Inc. bid $ 2 a share, or roughly $ 41 million, for the company. That pits the televangelist against Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church, whose Concept Communications is a large Nostalgia shareholder and also has designs on controlling Nostalgia.

Supported meeting

Marcovsky said he was "sacked" because he supported a shareholder's demand for a special shareholder meeting to elect new directors. Though the release did not name the shareholder, sources said the request was made by Tiger Communications Co., which committed its shares to IFE's bid. A Tiger exec did not return calls Friday.

Marcovsky also criticized the special committee's "complete lack of progress" in selling the company and called the process "little more than a charade."

Nostalgia declined to respond to Marcovsky or explain its reasons for firing him. But sources said Marcovsky's ties to Tiger was a conflict of interest that hindered the company's ability to field bids from other suitors.

Nevertheless, Marcovsky, who is a large Nostalgia shareholder, remains on the company's board.

Actually, BBN has been on here since before you. MANY people know her.

The problem is that many of the 'old timers' have left or are lurking due to posters like U[seless]4 and others who have questionable agendas.

Personally, I have friends and family that are recovering substance abusers, but the talk doesn't bother me. I don't mind the off topic talk. Sometimes it's a nice break. I only posted to correct the assertion that BBM has never posted before. At one time, her posts were frequent and valuable... and greatly appreciated! Unfortunately, this describes many posters who have chosen to leave or go into 'lurk' mode.

No offense is meant, penny, but I just wanted to point out that BBM is not a new poster who should be discounted.

P.S. How've you been BBM?? I hope all is well and that hubby has been well; as with your whole family.

Oh My GOODNESS, PENNY! That was so.....Freakin' funny.

I am sorry Peeper. I understand where you are coming from, really I do. My GrandFather died because of a drinking problem. That's just it it was a problem.
My Drinking, whether it be at home, out at dinner or at CHURCH.......
Does not seem to have an effect on anyone. I do it responsibly. I do not drink and drive, or let it harm anyone. I do not drink to get drunk.......I do it for the same reasons I play golf, Trade stocks, Play with my children and Grandchildren.......because I enjoy it.
No problem. except of course with you.

On another topic. Yes...$100,000.00 is a lot of money to try and help someone you love and then you relize........It's not worth the money if they don't want the help.

Lot of crack. LOL

see Peeper, they're talking about it and I'm still laughing.
(It's heroin but......does'nt make a difference) Nuff said. Been to group with her don't need to have group here.

sorry for that my mind was saying this is the first she has been here in this room for some time. I'm not saying she is new here. i get a bit lazy about typing as I'm not a great typist.

The point is we all have issues with loved ones with some problem or another, whether it is drug abuse, alcohol abuse, or other problems. we cant shut down the world so that we are not reminded of the problems.

to call everyone addicts because we have discussed alcohol is more uncalled for and extremely rude.

my original comment i told her that i was trying to be very respectful and her reply was i am an addict.

any way i think i made my point.

I'm sorry if i was rude at all it was not my intention at first.

Hey Penny,

I didn't take it as rude. Actually, I agree with you that we cannot shut down the world to hide from problems. I agree that calling everyone alcoholics was a bit extreme, but I'm chalking that up to utter frustration in dealing with the situation. That and the fact that I know BBM isn't an extremist. Besides, if a few drinks a year makes an alcoholic, then I'm headed for Betty Ford!

On a lighter note.... you know the old joke....[i]"Drink one drink and they don't call you an alcoholic, win one pool game and they don't call you a pool shark, but suck just one _____ ....!!"
