When this hits the $ range, what out what you do with your Chalupas...
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,122056,00.html

An Iowa man has been arrested for assault with an airborne chalupa, reports the Des Moines Register.

"I've never had anything quite like that before," police detective Darren Cornwell told the newspaper.

Nancy Harrison was working the drive-through window at a Des Moines Taco Bell (search) Thursday evening when 24-year-old Christopher Lame pulled up and ordered food, Harrison told police.

Lame got and paid for his food, but a little while later walked into the restaurant to complain he hadn't gotten what he'd ordered.

Harrison asked him if he had his receipt.

"What the [bleep]," he replied, according to Harrison. "Do I have to bring my receipt, too?"

She said Lame went out to his car and came back with his bag of food.

"There's the [bleeping] tacos," he allegedly said.

Harrison replied that the restaurant was closing, and began to turn away, but not before an airborne chalupa hit her in the face.

A chalupa (search) is basically a taco wrapped in a crispy deep-fried shell rather than the traditional baked shell.

Lame ran out of the restaurant, Harrison told police, but she followed him into the parking lot and wrote down his license plate number.

Lame was tracked down and given a citation for assault. He is scheduled to be in court June 15.

Thought that was funny

Hi,

I made a big oops. That is an old website from 2003. The one with the pale blue & green background that keeps getting posted is the current website.

Remember, they've been trying to get this launch going for many years... it is finally happening as we type, and of course they have to change & update the website!

Is it possible the soft launch is literally to "potential carriers and advertisers from June 1" as stated in the first few lines of the article below ? Where only those folks have a special code or whatever to access this channel?

Just a thought. Maybe a question that can be directed to the Q once they return to the office on Monday 6-14-04.

Q Television plans soft launch in June
20:33 BST, Thursday 27th May 2004 -- by James Welsh
California-based Q Television Network will begin soft-launch broadcasts to potential carriers and advertisers from June 1.

"It has taken more than seven years and millions of dollars to arrive at this day," said Q Television's chairman and president Frank Olsen. "Clearly, the time to launch this network is now, and I am confident that the gay and lesbian community will embrace the unique perspective we offer as a family channel."

The station will broadcast its signal on Intelsat America's 7 at 129°W on channel 1.

Q Television's chief financial officer Rene Schenk compared the station's launch to that of cable news channel CNN back in the 1980s. "Just as CNN had tremendous hurdles to overcome, Frank and Q Television Network have had an uphill battle in the launch of Q Television," Schenk explained. "Q Television is positioned to successfully meet the demand that exists for a gay family channel."

The channel's executive vice president, Steven Grunberg, said that Q Television would offer a product very different to other gay-themed programmes. "This is built by and for the gay community," he said. "Rather than a smattering of stereotyped gay characters offered because current market projections indicate it would be profitable, we offer a channel that will unite the gay and lesbian audience through a network that educates, entertains and informs - a network of real value."

Hi everyone. I'm a new member of the QBID team I bought 2 million shares today. I was going to buy more, but decided to hold off until I could find out more about cmkx. I can't believe the volume today. It traded over 4 billion shares. That's unheard of. Does anyone know anything about this company?
Thanks

anyone with a c-band satellite dish and digital decoder can view the soft launch... however, the cable and satellite providers are the ones (mostly) with that type of equipment. Think of it as being the same setup for an existing cable channel. They uplink their feed to the satellite which returns the signal downward. Then the cable companies receive the signal and pipe it to your home...

Hey guys, a little off topic, but relevent... I just got done reading a book by Ben Mezrich called "Ugly Americans" (don't worry, its not against America or unpatriotic at all) Its a real life finance book about how Americans went to Asia and raided the markets for billions, it's a good book, I highly recommend it. Anyways, one of the characters, Carney, has a set of trading rules called "The Eight Rules of Carney"...

1. Never get into something you can't get out of by the closing bell. Every trade you make, you're looking for the exit point. Always keep your eye on the exit point.
2. Don't ever take anything at face value. Because face value is the biggest lie of any market. Nothing is ever priced at its true worth. The key is to figure out the real, intrinsic value - and get it for much, much less.
3. One minute, you have your feet on the ground and you're moving forward. The next minute, the ground is gone and you're falling. The key is to never land. Keep it in the air as long as you can.
4. You walk into a room with a grenade, and your best-case scenario is walking back out still holding that grenade. Your worst case scenario is that grenade explodes, blowing you into little bloody pieces. The moral of the story: don't make bets with no upside.
5. Don't overthink. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck - it's a duck.
6. Fear is a great motivator. Motivation is what it takes to find profit.
7. The first place to look for a solution is within the problem itself.
8. The ends justify the means, but there's only one end that really matters. Ending up on a beach with a bottle of champagne.

I just thought these rules were interesting and a good set to follow for daytrading. Have a good night everyone!

Q Television Network Documentary Chronicles Struggle for Gay Marriage Rights; Network Committed to Developing Programs That Reflect the Concerns of the Gay and Lesbian Community

June 09, 2004 06:00:00 (ET)

PALM SPRINGS, Calif., Jun 9, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Q Television Network (Pink Sheets:QBID) announces the details of an original documentary exploring gay marriage and the issue's prominence in the gay rights movement.

"I Will, I Do, We Did" offers an inside look at the journey taken by a dozen same-sex couples during this historic time, documenting the political and community chain of events that resulted in San Francsico becoming the first city in the nation to issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples.

A joint production by Q Television Network and Roland Joseph Torres, principal of production firm Red Soapbox Visual Media, LLC, "I Will, I Do, We Did" is an example of Q Television's dedication to offering viewers programs that educate, inform and entertain.

"Marriage rights are a top concern of the gay and lesbian community," observes vice president of programming and acquisitions Steven Grunberg. "Since Q Television Network was built by the gay community for the gay community, it was obvious that one of our first projects would focus on this issue."

A preview of the documentary premiered in May at the National Cable & Telecommunication Association's annual industry conference and was included in a successful five-hour sample broadcast on May 15. The film is also airing as part of Q Television Network's industry launch, which began June 1. The network is available for viewing on Intelsat America's 7, 129 degrees West, Channel 1. A public launch is planned for July 2004.

Q Television and Red Soapbox Visual Media are currently in preproduction on two additional collaborations: a behind-the-scenes look at the San Francisco PRIDE festival and a follow-up to "I Will, I Do, We Did." The team's second gay marriage film will consider the effects of divorce on the gay community and include the perspectives of judges and lawyers, as well as the couples interviewed for the film.

About Q Television Network

This television network was organized to create and develop a network devoted to providing television programming for the gay and lesbian community. While the company expects much of its subscriber base to be comprised of members of the gay and lesbian population, management also believes that quality programming about the gay and lesbian experience, designed to entertain, educate and inform, will attract many other segments of the viewing public. The company's programming will be available on a subscription basis to those desiring its programming. The network will broadcast 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Providing distribution via satellite ensures availability of the network across the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

Just remember folks - it may not be news to us, but more people will find out about the Q today because if this PR.

You know, when we copy/paste PRs into this thread, we see them out of context. This morning as I was actually scanning the BW page, I saw the headline... in context... among the other headlines. It WILL catch people's eyes. They even have their logo on it.

February 2004, Profiles Couples for International TV

Bay Area same-sex couples who were recently married as a result of Mayor Newsom’s historic decision to issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples are sought to participate in an interview for a documentary short currently in production that chronicles the events of February 2004 surrounding same-sex marriage. The documentary, with the working title “I DO, I WILL, WE DID” is a co-production of Triangle Multi Media and Red Soapbox Visual Media, LLC.

“The mayor’s decision to defy state laws and recognize these same-sex marriages is a major benchmark in history. Our project aims at chronicling this,” said Roland J. Torres, owner of Red Soapbox Visual Media and director of the project.

According to Torres, the documentary has been accepted for international broadcast, upon its completion. Additionally, plans are in the works for distribution of the project to LGBT film festivals worldwide.

Couples interested in participating in the documentary should contact the producers via email at marriagedoc@hotmail.com

"We're currently seeking couples who might fit the bill, and who would be open to speaking about their experiences on camera. Interviews should take place at their location (ideally in their home), and will take no longer than half-an-hour" says Torres.

The project aims to chronicle the events of Feb 2004 that led to the Same-Sex Marriage explosion, and to share with viewers intimate, one-on-one stories behind the issue that has been front-page news around the world for weeks. To "put a face" to the issue, if you will.

The completed broadcast version of the documentary will be aired domestically with Triangle (who, according to its 02/04 press release is slated for a 9/04 launch date), and with PrideVision TV in Canada. Further, a film version of the project is slated for distribution to the Film Fest circuit internationally. http://gayweddingwars.blogspot.com/2004_03_03_gayweddingwars_archive.html
