HELP!

OK, I have been running a stock screener that seems to help me identify stocks that I may want to enter the next day.

I would like to narrow my list by looking at fundemental (financial stability) of the companies.

I am LOST here!

Is there a couple of things that I can look at regarding the financial health of company?

I just need something basic to start with. Something to look at to see if there is any life in the company or not. Make sure it is no shell game.

My list today included what I think were some bargin prices on stocks that according to "price history" and "my TA" will move back up. But I would like to be able to get rid of the "trash" on my list before the trade day begins.

If it is a company that I would not want to buy into because of their "financial condition".

ANY HELP is appreciated.

I may not be using the correct terms in this post, if not I welcome any corrections.

PAUL,

In financial analysis always look at Operating Cash Flow is lifeblood of a company.

Because (1) harder for a company to manipulate (2) without generating cash over long term company is on deathbed.

Hope this answers your question.

PAUL,

When you look at operating cash flow If it is less than net income, there is something wrong with the cash cycle.

Return On Equity
Return On Assets
If these are negative they are eating thier tail to stay alive. These are a scorecard on Management. Short term negative may be ok, but I like 15+%. This may be hard to find in pennys, so look harder at the other things.

If a number is in ( ) does that mean it is negative?

I see the ROE ROA on the smallcap site. However they do not have info on all of the stocks I am interestd in.

I look on Ameritrade and they do not have anything labled (that I have found) called ROE or ROA.

Where does the info come from?

Why is some OTCBB financial info available on some stocks and not others?

WELL IF YOUR PLANNING ON INVESTING IN PINKIES OR MOST OTCBB, THERE ISN'T ANY REPORTING REQUIREMENTS. HENCE THE REASON ALL THE "PROS" TELL YOU TO STEER CLEAR FROM THESE STOCKS.

MAINLY IF YOU DO PROPER DISCOVERY WHICH IS PRETTY SIMPLE, RESEARCH THE COMPANY YOU WILL FIND OUT WHAT IS SHELL AND WHAT IS NOT. ALSO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT TO BECOME A PINKIE OR OTCBB, IT'S A PRETTY SIZABLE INVESTMENT SO THAT IN AND OF ITSELF ELIMINATES MOST SHELL GAMES.

NOW WITH PINKIES AND OTCBB, THAT IS THE REASON FOR SUCH CRAZY RETURNS, NO REPORTING. SHOOT YOUR BANK RETURNS 2% OF YOUR MONEY VIA INTEREST AND AVERAGE DAILY AVERAGES FOR MOST PINKIES AND OTCBB IS THAT AND MOSTLY LIKELY MORE.

RESEARCH THIS BOARD AND THAT ITSELF WILL GIVE YOU A GOOD CLUE REGARDING STOCKS SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU HAVE NUMEROUS PEOPLE WHO JUST GET THEIR KICKS RESEARCHING STOCKS. THOSE NUMEROUS PEOPLE ARE ON THIS BOARD I HAVE FOUND.

IF YOUR LOOKING FOR IN-DEPTH RESEARCH, MOVE UP TO NASDAQ AND NYSE.

Not sure who you are referring to in your post above ,but have noticed other threads where your comments have been negative in nature. When someone asks a question I try to respond with positive data. I am NOT a professional, but do have experience and am doing ok in other areas. Your point on no reporting requirements is exactly the point here. Why not reward those few companys willing to provide extra information especially if it reduces the downside risk. This boards main job is education IMO (inculding mine)

Van U R right about the neg--but he is usually measured and mostly not rude--I think HEALTHY skepticism is needed i never saw him bash except for possible panhandler.
The other night he made a point about about betting on jockeys not horses- I agree-I have always looked at the people in the businesses as much if not more than the overall figures mainly cuz making something from nothing comes from personality.

U4,

If I am understanding what you are saying. The fact that an OTCBB company DOES/DOESN'T have published financial information, does NOT mean they are MORE/LESS legitimate. Because there is NO requirment to do so.

FollowUp Question...

If a company DOES publish/file (whatever) their financial information. Is there a legal requirment that the information published/filed be correct?

Thanks for your time everyone.

PAUL

U4 is correct about OTC & Pink stocks, however my point is SOME do offer information.
If a company offers it is probably becuase they wan't your business. Once data is reported to public it is hard to fool everybody. U4 also referred to MM. I think you have NO control over them anyway. It's like DAVID & GOLITH the small guy can out manuver the giant if the "brains" are there.

Right now I am excluding those that do not report from my watch list.

I am in the next few days going to cull from my list, those with less CASH as of the end of 3Q 2003.

I know I will miss many good moves this way.
However, at this time I have very little to invest. This way I think I will have more confidence in the stocks I do PLAY.

Any Comments??

PAUL,

VOLUME IS KEY. ESPECIALLY IN PENNIES.
SOMETIMES I CAN ELIMINATED A LOT OF RESEARCH TIME BY A QUICK GLANCE AT A TWO MONTH CHART AND THE DAILY VOLUME. JMHO.

FIND THE THREAD SLIT MY WRISTS AND THAT MAY HELP YOU. I KNOW IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE BUT IT WILL HELP. LOTS OF WEB SITES FOR RESEARCH LISTED.

SINCE LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE LOTS OF DIFFERENT TRADING STYLES JUST START READING THRU THE THREADS. GREAT WAY TO LEARN.

GOOD LUCK,
