Global Business Services' Subsidiary, Postal Connections, Inc., Announces Major Midwest Expansion; Area Developer Targets 100 New Stores First 5 Years for Ohio Region

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jul 14, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Global Business Services, Inc.'s (GBSS) subsidiary, Postal Connections, a rapidly growing network of franchise stores in the retail postal and business services industry, announced today its largest expansion to date. Mr. David Rhodes was awarded the territory of northern Ohio, including Cleveland, Akron, Canton and the surrounding area.
Postal Connections, based in San Diego, has 50 locations in 14 states, including company-owned and operated stores. Mr. Rhodes, 46 years old, holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor's Degree from Ashland University, and is also an Adjunct Professor of Marketing and Business Strategy at the Cleveland campus of The University of Phoenix. He was formerly Vice-President Sales and Marketing for a Berkshire Hathaway manufacturing company in the Cleveland area.
"We are pleased and excited that someone of David's caliber and experience has chosen Postal Connections to launch the next phase of what has been a phenomenal career," said Ken Sully, President and CEO of Postal Connections. "Having had a meteoric career with Berkshire Hathaway, one of the premier companies in the world, David brings just the kind of powerhouse business skills we look for. His franchise area includes over 4 million people, and we look forward to dynamic growth in Ohio."
Mr. Rhodes stated, "After having studied all of the retail postal franchises, it was evident to me that the only company to go with was Postal Connections. I chose Postal Connections for two very fundamental reasons -- math and management. `Math' in that Postal Connections has the lowest franchise and royalty fees in the industry and yet provides superior franchisee support. And `management' taking into account that the President, VP of Operations, and VP of Marketing are the three guys largely responsible for the incredible past success of Mail Boxes, Etc. THAT is a team I want to be a part of! So, the decision was really an easy one, and I am honored to be a part of what I believe is going to be the one company that is going to compete effectively with The UPS Stores (formerly Mail Boxes, Etc.)."
Mr. Sully added, "This dynamic expansion into a vastly underserved market just proves that our growth strategy is beginning to gel. What we have been talking about is starting to happen in a big way."
