Nextair's Growth Continues to Escalate as Enterprises Connect Their Field Forces

TORONTO, May 06, 2004 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- (Canada NewsWire)

Nextair Inc. (TSX: NXA), a leading provider of wireless software platforms, reported today that orders from new customers in Q1-2004, combined with repeat orders from existing customers, drove quarterly revenue up to $481,568 from $390,688 in Q4-2003. Revenue from the company's flagship product, the AIRIX Wireless Environment, increased in the quarter to $334,000 from $221,000 in Q4-2003, representing a 51% growth rate.

"Our growth rate is evidence of the market's growing interest in wireless connectivity," said Ron Close, President and CEO. "Most encouraging to us is the repeat business we're seeing from existing AIRIX customers as they expand their remote connectivity initiatives, roll-out their AIRIX-enabled applications to more users, or wirelessly enable more applications based on past success with AIRIX."

"Our customers are experiencing solid payback on their time and money," added Close. "They especially appreciate the speed to market that AIRIX enables. Customers can typically get their remote users up and running with their own application in just three-to-six days, instead of the three-to-six months it would take them to do it on their own."

"Within one week, Nextair created a customized prototype of the AIRIX application using our requirements and our data store," said John Oakley, General Manager, Enbridge Gas Distribution. "The ease of use, efficiency and speed of deployment impressed us most. With AIRIX, we improved the ease of communication between the field and the back office, assisting in timely and accurate information delivery. Based on this early success, we are planning to expand our use of AIRIX to include a number of other field related services."

Q1-2004 Highlights

Revenue from the prior quarter was up 23% to $481,568 from $390,688 in Q4-2003. Gross Margin was 89% while Operating Expenses decreased in the quarter to $835,279 from $845,448. Net Loss for the quarter improved to $410,669 from a Net Loss in Q4-2003 of $437,859. This improvement would have been $50,000 larger except for a one-time gain on disposal of marketable securities in Q4-2003. The operating cash burn rate in Q1 was approximately $300,000.

Also in the quarter, Nextair completed a private placement, raising $2.5M. The company also moved its head office and most of its employees from Windsor to Toronto, strengthened its Board, added several key employees, including key Marketing and Sales professionals, and began the process of expanding its activity level in new markets, with a preliminary focus on the US.

The financial statements for Q1-2004 along with the accompanying Management Discussion and Analysis have been released as part of Nextair's Quarterly Report to shareholders and are available at www.Sedar.com.

Getronics Canada Chooses Nextair To Wirelessly Connect Mobile Workforce Across Canada

TORONTO, May 19, 2004 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- (Canada NewsWire)

Demonstrating its growth in the wireless enterprise market and the success of its solutions, Nextair Inc. (TSX:NXA), announced today that Getronics Canada has deployed Nextair's technology to wirelessly connect its Canadian field employees to their corporate systems.

Nextair's AIRIX Wireless Environment will allow Getronics to extend its existing Customer Relationship Management system and knowledge base to wireless handheld devices. By having key information in the palm of their hands, Getronics remote employees can provide faster and more accurate service to its customers.

Getronics Canada will use the application developed on the AIRIX platform to help them respond to and track over 300,000 service calls annually. The technology will help Getronics streamline their field activities and will enable them to be even more responsive to their clients.

A leader in systems integration and networked technology services, Getronics employs 500 people across Canada, providing their clients with a complete range of life-cycle services to help them plan, deploy, manage and maintain their network and computing environments. The company provides services in over 5,000 Canadian communities from coast to coast.

"Getronics is always searching for ways to provide better communications and information to our employees and to our customers," said Jerry Webster, Getronics Canada's Vice-President, Field Managed Services. "With Getronics' extensive expertise in Information and Communications Technology, we knew that choosing the right wireless platform went beyond assessing the technology on paper or in a lab environment. The real test was deploying the technology to users in the field. In only one week, Getronics' IT team used AIRIX to create our handheld application, then we deployed the application to users in three cities and let them test it for three months in real world conditions. AIRIX performed flawlessly."

The AIRIX Wireless Environment is a family of products that includes the AIRIX Design Studio(TM), AIRIX Smart Client(TM) and the AIRIX Transaction Server(TM). Together, these products provide the most innovative and advanced mobile data solutions on the market today, allowing software developers to add wireless and remote functionality to any application, over any network, for any device.

For IT managers, AIRIX eliminates the risk of choosing the "wrong" handheld device. By supporting Microsoft's Pocket PC, Research In Motion's Blackberry and Palm OS5 and OS6, companies can choose any handheld device, and can even change their minds, without having to change their software platform or application. The combination of Pocket PC, RIM and Palm represents over 90 per cent of the wirelessly connected PDA market.

Webster said, "Getronics selected Nextair's AIRIX Wireless Environment for its ability to rapidly integrate with the company's existing systems and its support of a full range of mobile device features."

"Industry leading service organizations apply cutting edge technology in order to increase employee productivity and provide outstanding customer service," said Ron Close, President, Nextair. "We're extremely pleased that one of Canada's largest IT services organizations has selected AIRIX. The Getronics team built an AIRIX solution and launched it in only one week - proving once again that AIRIX is the best way to mobilize any business application."
