I bought the Jan. 2011 Calls. Extremely undervalued. 15 casinos across the US market cap 600 million. You can’t even build 1 for that, Revs. 500 million per quarter. Really cheap stock.

Boyd Shares Popped: What You Need to Know
By Rex Moore | More Articles
October 8, 2010 | Comments (1)

Although we don't believe in timing the market or panicking over market movements, we do like to keep an eye on big changes -- just in case they're material to our investing thesis.

What: Casino operator Boyd Gaming (NYSE: BYD) finished the day with a 10% gain, as investors cheered a strong report on gaming activity in Las Vegas.

So What: According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, gaming revenues on the Las Vegas Strip surged a whopping 21% year over year in August, to $544 million. Not surprisingly, shares of other Las Vegas-based casinos such as Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS), Wynn Resorts (Nasdaq: WYNN), and MGM (NYSE: MGM) are up big on the news.

Now What: It's been a rough few years for many casino operators; Boyd is down almost 80% in that time frame. Today's news is good, but investors need to keep an eye on the bigger picture -- especially the company's ability to handle its debt load.

Rex - MGM is being forced to sell 50% of the Borgata and BYD has rights of 1st refusal on the remaining 50% stake. The Borgata is the premier location in Atlantic City. Check out their financial performance in 2009:

http://www.state.nj.us/casinos/financia/qtrincome/2009/4th%2...

Highlights:

Operating Income: $204,385,000

Dep/Amort: $78,719,000

Net Income: $108,241,000

Cash From from Ops: $193,634,000

Cap Ex: $(17,889,000)

FCF: $175,745,000

So essentially BYD is trading at 8 times their share of the Borgatas FCF and 12 times their share of Net Income and mind you this is when the economy has been in the dumps. Remember BYD has 1st dibs on the remaning 50%. This property alone is worth about $1.5 to $2 Billion. Yet BYD is trading at about $700 Million market cap. Hmmmm.

If BYD has 1st shot at buying the remaining stake then I guarantee you that other casino operators are talking to them about the Borgata. A buyer of BYD would get the Borgata and a bunch of other properties with significant upside leverage during good times. I believe BYD is worth $14 to $18/share and I think a LVS or Harrah's will come in and buy them.
