Okay guys, here's the deal: I wrote a prgoram to go out to the internet and get the recent form 4s for all 8000+ pinksheet and otcbb stocks (not sure if pinks ever submit form 4s, but my program looks for them). I then import the data into Excel, and at least as of now (I may change the length of time later) I look at all form 4s in the last 7 days and will post here any of them where there was more than $1million worth of shares bought in those form 4s. I think my prgram only pulls actual purchases, not option excersizes, etc.
At that point, I or someone else can if I don't have time, will look at the filings themselves and see if it was a fund, or a person, and determine if it's worth DDing some more, or if it's a situation that's not worth our time.
In talking with a few peole, we think it could be a good way to find ome stocks that will be slightly longer term holds than some here are used to, but potentially good money makers.
For those not aware, when an insider buys, they can not sell for 60 days. So if you see a guy buy a mil+ worth, you know he's pretty confident that the price will be higher in 6 months.
Comments, suggestions, criticism are all welcome.
hopefully this turns into a good thread that help us all make some money.
Good luck to us all!

the following stocks have had more than $1million net purchased by insiders in the last 7 days:
CXTI, STXX, and HBDT.
I am ridiculously busy at work right now, unfortunately. billed 80 hours last week. It'll be like this, or close to it, until June 4th, so hopefully some of you can take on the DD part of this for the next month or two. I'll do what I can on days that I'm not busy, but I don't see many of those days on the horizon.
Thanks.

Yeah, I was asking about the technical specifics
I've been working on a template-driven spider -- basically a program that traverses webpages and collects specified pieces of information into a database. I use it to get fundamental data; I didn't think of using it for filings, etc, but it makes perfect sense.
Perhaps we can join forces on this one..

Item 1.01 Entry into a Material Definitive Agreement On April 5, 2007, Health Benefits Direct Corporation (the "Company") entered into a Consent and Lock-Up Agreement (the "Lock-Up Agreement") with Scott Frohman ("Frohman"). Under the Lock-Up Agreement, the Company consented to the release from lock-up of 1,300,000 shares out of 1,559,007 shares of Common Stock (or securities exercisable for or convertible into shares of Common Stock) held by Frohman (the "Released Securities") that were locked up in favor of the Company until June 7, 2008 pursuant to the Separation Agreement between the Company and Frohman dated December 7, 2006 (the "Separation Agreement"). The Company consented to this release in consideration for a lock-up until May 23, 2008 by Frohman in favor of the Company of 50% of Frohman's remaining 1,566,007 shares of Common Stock (or securities exercisable for or convertible into shares of Common Stock) that were otherwise locked up until November 23, 2007 under the Lock-Up Agreement between the Company and Frohman dated November 23, 2005. Prior to the Lock-Up Agreement, the lock-up restrictions in the Separation Agreement allowed Frohman to sell or otherwise transfer up to 50,000 shares of Released Securities in any given month (the "50,000 Share Exception"). Under the Lock-Up Agreement, Frohman will not be entitled to the 50,000 Share Exception until on or after July 5, 2007 as it relates to the 259,007 shares of Released Securities that were not released from lock-up under the Lock-Up Agreement. The foregoing is a summary of the terms of the Lock-Up Agreement and does not purport to be complete. This summary is qualified in its entirety by reference to the full text of the Lock-Up Agreement, which is attached hereto as Exhibit 10.1 and is incorporated by reference herein. Item 9.01 Financial Statements and Exhibits.
(d) Exhibits.
Exhibit Number Description 10.1 Consent and Lock-Up Agreement, dated April 5, 2007, between Health Benefits Direct Corporation and Scott Frohman

yeah 10, without reading that too thoroughly, it looks like some shares that were locked up are now free trading. Good to know, and certainly worth putting here. I was more broadly referring to any DD. Charts, news, other filings that would counteract the buying, O/S or A/S increases. Anything really.
thanks!

Not a problem. This is meant to throw out any stocks that fit the criteria. then we can look at them from there. Your take is none are good plays. I haven't even looked at any of the 3, so i can't agree or disagree .
I think over time we'll get this down to a science and get some good ones this way.

However, I do not like any of those 3 from today, JMO

PCola - great idea. I am a programmer by trade as well, so if you have some other ideas (i.e. basic specs), I'll be more than happy to code it or help with the upkeep...
Oh, and you may want to change your tagling on 1) to read...except JimSC The man is good!

Thanks! My brother is a programer, so I usually just leech off of him when i need help, but he's too busy most of the time (drinking and boating, not working) to help me, so I'll ask you when I need help
And no offense to Jim, but I only believe myself when I predict a multi-bagger
Edit: and by the way, the great thing about Excel and VB is the "record macro" feature. that's how I usually get most of my programs started, then I just edit them as necessary to do loops and stuff. Nothing overly complicated.
I'm pretty good with Excel, so once the data's there I can do all sorts of ridiculous formula to automate the process so all of the data flows through given my criteria.

WTF good is an Italian New Yorker who can't get stuff like that done. Geez. What good are ya?
Just a few more hours.. If i don't fall asleep first...
And as for hitting on me, you'll have to get in line for that...
Anyway, getting back to the thread...
My run of today's data should be done in a little bit. takes about 2 hours, and I think I started it a little after 9. I'll try to get a new list up when it's done, if it changes at all.

Probably not near as efficient as your program, I'm sure- it helped me find KMDO a few months ago, but that's it... Sometimes I'll look on the sec.gov site for recent form 4's that have been filed too.

Thanks bilgert that's a great shortcut! When I have some time I'll check into how to pull data from the last few days. Would be much more efficient than pulling data for all companies, although that could still have some useful applications.
