While watching Dragnet, with Friday and Gannon, I often wonder why Joe Friday always refers to a woman as being a madam.
Being anal retentive, as usual, I just want the facts and nothing else, when you post information to this board.
It is of critical importance information provided is factual or of factual basis. You and I are risking our hard earned egg money trading stocks. You better have your facts straight lest lose your money to a con artist, like me!
Factual information is that which can be verified, independently, by anyone. This type of information is readily available, contains statements which are common public knowledge, references to other sources and resources, information which an author verifies while presented. In all cases presented, information can be quickly determined factual.
It is rare we receive factual information.
Factual basis information is an extrapolation upon known factual information. We know what effects are manifested by gravity. I can easily extrapolate my big butt sags because of gravity. None would argue that being of factual basis.
A factual notion is almost all information we garner for any given stock, is based on trust, and there are ample reasons to not trust any information presented to us; we take the word of an author in lieu of independent resources.
For the most part, information provided by a company, about itself, are simple lies. It is very rare any executive utterances are totally true. Almost all companies use semantic lies.
Recently, news burst onto the scene here about a trading halt. Upon examination for a factual basis, that news turned out to be true. None can argue a trading halt was in effect for this current weekend. That news is and was a classic example of a semantic lie. Perfectly true but clearly a word play lie.
Almost all news from companies begin with semantic lies, are sprinkled with semantic lies and close with semantic lies.
"Ibiz, a world leader in innovative consumer electronic devices is pleased to announce our new laser keyboard is receiving record numbers of both online orders and retail orders...."
Sure, previously their orders were zero. An order of one, is a record order. I ask, where are those laser keyboards taunted by thousands?
Where is all that money people tossed at the facts?
No doubt you have taken notice, with annoyance, I frequently question facts, frequently question presumptions and assumptions of others. You should do this, as well. You have also noticed, often I question my own facts and presumptions. My habit is to state what I think, then provide both a supportive argument and an argument which well discounts what I think. No lies there, yes?
Yes, a trading halt for the weekend. An incident which well verifies how all of us, self included, are gullible, prone to jumping to conclusions and very lax about verification of facts.
That trading halt, much to my delight, also well demonstrates how information will spread like wildfire, and is readily passed as fact. I have found information of that type quickly becomes more factual, at times, by the minute.
When your facts are questioned, when your facts are critiqued, remind yourself there are those out here who want just the facts, ma'am.

Wouldn't you do something drastic if you thought El dicko was about to assume the presidency?

Oh! I had to look twice. I thought that picture was El dicko and was about to disaree and say he looked better than usual.
