That appears to suck.
There saying the same thing many employers say, we don't need you until we need you.
Nice way to treat our military!

There are lots of manuvers going on at Camp Pendleton right now, i would guess it might have to do with what's going on in Russia.

My buddy was saying last weekend his house was rocking, they thought it was an earthquake, but it was the shells they were firing in the hills on base, he lives 15 miles from the base.
I am sure quite a few bases are on alert, including Fort Carson.

You know with the military downsizing, the pension cuts, the health care cost increases, and all the other cuts they are doing, the drag shows in Okinawa on base, and everything else....how are troops that are supposed to be combat ready supposed to be motivated or optimistic about a career in the military? Seems like Russia has been upgrading their military with equipment and training. China has been boosting theirs as well.

Seems like the wrong time to be doing this to our armed forces especially when the Ukraine crisis has come up.

And what would any GOP Prez do right now? Ya know, to offset those issues you mentioned?

Not cut back if they have feelings for our soldiers service, seems pretty simple.

Talks cheap when our leaders and others say how much they support our troops
A regular employer is not putting a persons life on the line, when they need them. Completely diferent criteria in my opinion.

the Conservative ARE to blame for this cashcow.

look, the conservatives "tried" to build an anti-terror military & cut taxes a the same time based on Conservative economic principles that claimed the economy would be boosted when taxes are cut. it didn;t work

the problem is that taxes were already cut to "reasonable levels" compared to what they had been to pay off the WW2 debt and wage teh cold war.

we "won" the cold war and we got a "peace dividend" the problem is that times never stop changing.

it IS unconsicionable that we cut taxes on people who "only" invest in this country.

investment is important but there is no replacement for sweat equity...
America is full of spoiled rotten people now who think that they can just throw money at somethingand make it all good...

sorry, but the only way we will mainatin our number one position (we haven't lost it yet, but we are watching it slip away fast) is to be re-creating the way we got (t)here... the way we got (t)here was putting everyone to work at decent wages and giving them a real rewards that were affordable on the wages they actaully earned... the middle class IS our rreal power base, not he rich and obviously not the poor...

sure Labor needs actaully show up to work and produce, but a tthe same time? the "rich" (the investors) need to have a little closer shave on their returns so they have to invest a little more carefully, and the most importtant thing is that they have to stop investing in developing overseas industry and return to investing real prodcution in the USA... they need to get the tax breaks on American Production and nOT on building iport-based profits..

that means co's like apple need to pay a penalty for outsourcing all their products and calling themselves an American co.

Oh please Pagan. You and Ray are the most foul mouth posters on here. You fit right into the stereotypical liberal frame. Which commands: when one is right whom you dont agree with, out shout them, get loud, nasty, in their face, use the race card, and be the loudest in the room.

Am I diverting or are YOU diverting? Because anytime I bring up an issue you just go back to Bush or talk about something unrelated to the subject.

Realistic solutions to cutting funding to troops? Easy, make sure they dont have to live on food stamps like we are seeing.

People who take an oath to die for this country should not have to struggle like this. We are cutting their benefits and increasing the welfare state. Even LONGER unemployment benefits, increased federal minimum wage and so forth.

Talk about killing morale.

The Defense budget is extremely bloated. What should be cut? Again, realistically please. And next time try to stay on-topic and leave the other stuff out until we get to that point. We are talking about the DoD budget. What should be cut from that bloated pig?

And further my nonprofit and part time profit worker you will never be one of the top 1% so you might as well stop being their water boy.

Again you know nothing. As for 1% all that means is households making over what...$394,000 a year in 2012? Not far from there. The 1% I relate to best is the group that has been to combat and back. Where do you fall on that raybond?

There is plenty of fat trimming to do in the military and there is plenty of fat trimming to be done in your beloved Washington. Should enlisted men and women suffer those cuts? Apparently it does not matter to you.

More cash for clunkers and Obama phones, right?

Yet another diversion and no solutions. How about you actually provide a solution. You seem very adverse to actually putting a solution out there. You keep wanting to talk about me for some weird reason. Why not answer the questions put to you?

Ok...for like the 10th time. What should be done about Russia/Ukraine/Crimea. What would be the alternative to the ACA? Should food stamps be abolished. What is the answer in Syria. What is the answer in North Korea. What is the answer in Iran. Should extended unemployment be abolished. There are a few for you. Get started now with some REALISTIC solutions this time. And "parrot posting" as you call it? You would never answer any questions!

We need to wait it out to see what happens. EU should really step up and face this issue. If things get ugly, we will cross the bridge when it gets here.

The ACA should have been constructed piece by piece. Instead of just cramming and rushing through a 2,000+ page bill that nobody read but signed it anyway. Legislation should not pass based on bribes to Senators. You know better than that Pagan. Dirty little secret with Democrats is their love affair with insurance companies. No different than Republicans and energy. FORCING Americans to sign up for the ACA "or else".

Healthcare is what, 30 years behind of where it should be? Change needed to happen, but not like this. Seriously Pagan, $600+ million to develop a jacked up website that is not secure to sign up for the ACA? Really?

I will tell you what the answer is NOT in Syria, and that is to not take Obama's position of striking Assad. Assad is fighting islamic radicals, and Mccain goes over to tell the radicals we have their back. What a joke. I never thought Obama would be such a war monger on Syria. It actually surprised me, but then again nothing does because he rarely takes a position on anything for very long.

You are asking very complex "gotcha" questions on North Korea and Iran. In case you didnt know there are hundreds if not thousands of pages worth of variables to discuss and dissect to FORECAST different outcomes. The problem with forecasts Pagan, is they are never accurate.

Unemployment: Can America afford right now to keep paying unemployment for people for more than 1 year? Should it be three years? You know I know someone who was unemployed for almost a year. She had more income unemployed than she did when she got her job. Its weird out there.

I know you probably think that raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour is going to lift people out of poverty. The truth of the matter is that a whole lot of people living in poverty dont work at all. So this whole fantasy about $15 an hour is just that.

In the end, only war will decide who keeps winning and who keeps losing. Like Plato said, only the dead have seen the end of war.

Those actually are not Fox News talking points, and I now realize I am dealing with someone with a very shallow intellect. You Pagan, the way you get your point across to people is through anger.

Plus, you dont offer anything at all in response? You are an "avoider". Instead of responding and debating the possibilities of what I posted, and what potential outcomes could have been from those suggestions, you just call it Fox News talking points. As if you watch Fox all the time and know exactly what they say.

You dont have any solutions on North Korea and Iran, or fixing ACA. You demand them from me, and when I respond you start posting your dribble about Fox News.

I have been trying all day to have an intelligent Q & A with you. But you won't answer any questions Why not? And putting up talking points from Fox or attacking Obama or mentioning Raybond is not a conversation. Answer the questions I posed to you(after you asked) from previous posts.

No...we won't start over. That was one of the first questions I asked you. Just answer the questions. You seem to think the current administration is wrong about everything. Now is your big chance. tell everyone how you would solve all of the issues you continually bring up. We are all ears.

What do you want to debate cash. I am not the one who posts our president being spanked by Putin. Do you think I will debate a moron that posts that?

minimum wage you don't like that and offer no solutions All you ever offer is the same republican slogans that history has proved wrong.

Healthcare you don't like that. I know people that are on the plan and it has worked fine for them.

You are like most conservatives all you ever do is complain and never offer anything.

As for the 1% everybody knows we are talking about the financial side of life. So don't be a toady sap the rich have good ones already. They don't need you and your half ass life go find your Ronald Reagan park bench and take a break.

So far on this subject we have gone from the military budget to Russia. I agree with CashCowMoo on this one, at least his basic comments.

First, these politicians talk about increasing minium wage and then want to cut military benefits, what a joke.
Then on the other hand, they want to talk about Russia and what should be done. Is someone suggesting we should somehow involve our military?
If so, why shouldn't our young soldiers say, find someone else to do your dirty work? Most regular employees would do that if they were risking their lives? Oh that's right, the military can't say this, at least not without going to jail.

Yea,lets support our troops as long as it never costs anyone anything, besides a bunch of words and helps get them votes.

At least in the sixties many said what they meant about the military.
Politicians and others are so two faced!

What about all the homeless veterans? How about a lot more money being allocated to give them a much better way of life.
They don't deserve it as much or more then the people on welfare?

If you want to start cutting the budget, how about starting with the politicians. Then lets take care of these companies that send jobs out of this country for cheaper labor. Let's not give them any deductions from their taxes as a cost of doing business for these employees.(Customer service)
My list could go on and on and it would not touch a penny from the military budget, that directly affects our military and veterans, until all other unnecesary spending is taken care of.

These politicians aren't looking out for us, their looking out for their special interest groups, and so many times it comes down to big oil.

President Obama is no different, and the color of a persons skin has nothing to do with big business and the politicians dealings.

And this ideal doesn't differ between the parties, only their particular special interest.

Buckstalkers comments over the years about the parties, is spot on, which touches parts of my comments and the politicians special interests.

I never addressed the topic and I am sorry about that.

It is just common sense that if you have a military and you want to use it you have to have them with the best tools and equipment available. No man feels good about being under paid and he can't keep his pride for long standing in the food stamp line. No matter what the work your pay should be enough to make you a living.

I wasn't really addressing it at you Raybond.

I am addressing it in general and the more i read, the more it tics me off on how the politicians try and treat our military behind the scenes.

Many of us assume that the politicians will take take of our military and families in the best way possible, especially after all the big talk the last 15 years, of how our military deserve more than past veterans and how they all support them now. Then when they think no ones looking, they start pushing the knife in by cutting back benefits.

I am not sure about the Russia/Ukraine situation, the more i hear and read from the media. You hear more and more how the Russians living in these other counties could be dead shortly.

Maybe it's a lie, maybe not. Do a lot of these people want the Russians to rule hoping for better econimic conditions, or is it a lie?

We can't trust the Russian media and we know we can't trust our politicians to tell us the truth. They give us bits and pieces of what they want us to know.

History shows that our politicians drag us into wars, that we should never have gotten into the way we did.

Maybe the problem is as we get older, we have more experiance in seeing first hand, how many times the politicians lied to the public to get what they wanted.

Do you remember how much Obama beat the drum on supporting troops and veterans? It was almost a core cause as he would lead you to believe. Obviously that was just for votes like most of his pandering speeches.

Speaking of oil and military look what happened last Sunday.

(Reuters) - U.S. Navy SEALs boarded and took control of an oil tanker late on Sunday that escaped earlier this month from a Libyan port with armed men at the helm, the U.S. Department of Defense said.
Libyan anti-government rebels, who are calling for a greater share of oil wealth and autonomy, had managed to load crude oil onto the 37,000 tonne-tanker, which escaped the Libyan navy, embarrassing the weak central government and prompting parliament to vote the prime minister out of office.

No one was hurt in the boarding operation, approved by U.S. President Barack Obama, requested by the Libyan and Cypriot governments and conducted in international waters southeast of Cyprus, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said.

"The Morning Glory is carrying a cargo of oil owned by the Libyan government National Oil Company. The ship and its cargo were illicitly obtained" from the Libyan port of Es Sider, his statement said.

The Cypriot ministry of foreign affairs said the vessel was now heading west in the Mediterranean with a U.S. military escort. It was parked 18 miles southwest of Cyprus when the operation occurred around midnight Cyprus time.

The standoff over control of OPEC member Libya's oil is one facet of wider turmoil that has engulfed the vast North African country since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi nearly three years ago.

The government and nascent army have struggled to control brigades of former anti-Gaddafi fighters who have refused to disarm and have used their military muscle to make political demands on the state, often by targeting the vital oil sector.

actaully cashcow i do not remember Obama beating the drum on supporting troops and veterans.

you know what i remember? i remember geroge Bush and the GOP Congrees giving away "tax rebates' to go friggin shopping with.

i remember them cutting taxes while they gave away that money.

i remeber a whole bunch of GOP's in the congress who refused to pass a g-d-m spending budget for two years.

what most don't want to understand or acknowledge is that the spending has been 'locked' in' for decades. this debt we are incurring was not insantly created by or under Obama. it has been building up for decades since ragan and even before. half of all our debt we owe ousrelves from social security. and all that social security money was PAID IN by workers every payday for those decades.(it is not an "entitlement") The problem is that they have to pay it OUT now, and they don't have it.

what's the alternative to Obama?

is Obama a great president? nope, IMO. but he's not as much of a F---UP as the last crew we had running the country.
