Study: Male Jurors More Likely To Find Heavier Women Guilty

A Yale University study determined that male jurors are more likely to find an suspect guilty when that suspect is a heavier woman, with thin male jurors the exhibiting the most pronounced bias:
The researchers corralled a group of 471 pretend peers of varying body sizes and described to them a case of check fraud. They also presented them with one of four images—either a large guy, a lean guy, a large woman, or a lean woman—and identified the person in the photograph as the defendant. Participants rated the pretend-defendant’s guilt on a five-point scale. No fat bias emerged when the female pretend peers evaluated the female pretend defendants or when either men or women assessed the guilt of the men. But when the male pretend peers pronounced judgment on the female pretend defendants, BMI prejudice reared up. Jesus wept. The justice system and our basic faith in male decency took another hit.
The study offers further depressing insights. Not only did the male pretend jurors prove “significantly more likely” to find the obese female defendants—rather than the slim ones—guilty, but the trim male participants were worst of all, frequently labeling the fat women “repeat offenders” with “awareness” of their crimes.

tell me ray, you want to belive that society has become so enlightend that we should just give up our ability to defend ourselves against anything that comes at us (and i do mean to include the very real black helicopters, like the one that crashed in the binladen raid) and yet you know this article clearly demosntrates that not only are we not enlightened as a society, but we are not even aware of most of our own emotional biases....
in some cultures? "fat" women are sexier than skinny women.. know why? becuase they are more likely to produce healthy offspring. the human female cannot even produce viable eggs to fertilsie without specific percentage of body fat... granted that is a low percentage, but it there nonethelss... her is the female form what men onc worshipped as fertile:

I never said society was so enlightened but if you mean a peaceful movement can work as where violence and fire arms can't I say yes it can and there is plenty that have been successful in this world.
Now as for fat women this survey to me was very interesting it shows how weak minded men can be.
But on the other hand if you like a little a little meat on the bone so to speak I just might consider sending you to a place that your dreams can come true.

men? why stop at men? people ar weak minded in general Ray... look, you took care of prisoners for me as your chosen profession. i have told you before that i repsect that and and that i am not really built to incarcerate people. i couldn't do it, you did. what i meant was that people in general are liable to behave in ways they do not even undrstand. they become a mob, on jury? in th estreet? it's mob mentality...
"protect people"? i can protect myself form 10 people at one time with what they call an assault wepaon/rifle, eve tho i KNOW for fact that an assault weapon is full auto and i don't need one or want one.. ... i live in a state with major history of lynchings, i need to be able look at history and see that ten peopl together is a mob and i need to be able to protect myself from mob violence..
a bushmaster is ideal for that job... don't tell me it acn't happen it already has many time and will again, because people become mobs.

new law: "mandating background checks for all gun buyers"?
because at gun shows, they are not checked?
the only gun sales that are not background checked- EVER -are person to person gun sales...
all i hear on the TV are lies about somethign that i am very informed about. how on earth are honest people going to be held responsible to sell a gun they don';t want anymore?
when you die in Utah? they send the police around to collect medications. (don't beleiveme? look itu p yourself).. is that waht is coming for our guns too? when you die, the police will come to your house and search it for all your stuff that they want back?
what has this country become?

Call me unenlightened, crude, a neanderthal, whatever but if I'm ever asked to pronounce guilt on either a fat woman or an in shape babe I say the evidence be damned. The babe gets a pass and the hog goes to jail.
