Romney’s Former Company Under Investigation For Tax Evasion | Bain Capital, the private equity firm founded by presidential candidate Mitt Romney, is under investigation for questionable tax practices, according to the New York Times. Since July, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has been issuing subpoenas to private equity firms including Bain, which he believes intentionally changed management fees into capital gains as a way of hanging onto millions of dollars that would have otherwise been taxed at a higher rate. Bain alone is estimated to have saved “more than $200 million in federal income taxes and more than $20 million in Medicare taxes.” It is unclear whether the tax strategy was used while Romney was at the helm of the company, but the Times reports that Romney is still making money on funds that are using the method in question. A lawyer who handles Romney’s money says he “can confirm that neither he nor the trust has ever done this, whether before or after he retired from Bain Capital.” Still, little is known about Romney’s finances, except that he makes a windfall on capital gains each year, since he has refused to release his tax returns.

Still cant hold a candle to Jon Corzine and MF Global! Dems still taking contributions from Bain too.

Wonder if the recipients of Bain money in the Democrat party will make a public statement saying they will no longer accept Bains money?

BTW, who wants to go to the DNC with me!

you do know that Christie can't hold a natiaonl public office cuz his brother is in hedge funds right cash? I agree corzine is on eo of the worst, but there are worse that we never hear much about..

funny how NJ has two governors in the game

as tot the tax evasion? they've all been doing it for years, and should have been indicted ten years ago... i am sure this is political, but good political... all the hedge funds do it. they pay 13% on their taxes.

you know why I belvie Romney won't release his returns for 2007,8,9? because will find out that like Bloomberg, Romney made money offfa everybody elses victimization.

and even I who knew we were crashing and got clean out at the top have still suffered because of the crash... just not very much..

after all the bs we've been thru .... I'll take 8.2. How many folks u know unemployed?.. I know of one. My sons gf. He is supporting her. no other . I was unemployed when I couldn't lay carpet anymore..but I carved out a niche for myself in something else. I think most ppl don't freak out over this like u do...and any intelligent person knows this isn't obamas fault and is getting better. intelligent ppl tend to vote Dem. and they understand there is no quick fix...yes 3 1/2 yrs is a quick fix...must give him 8!..MUST!. The repubs were giving him shiit after 2 weeks in office!!...They ask are we better off!!..I say most definately .! espesiecally given the choice.

If you want to blame unemployment on some body look no further than the repulican party with there policy to obstruct any job creation bill that came to congress. Even with all the republican acts of treason of holding the country's unemployed as a hostage with the idea of getting rid of obama it is still not working for them unemployment is down to 8.2% the dow is up and we will keep health care. And the repubulican party can go back to clint eastwood talking to an empty chair.Or better than that call in fat boy from new jersey and we can all listen to him talk about him self for another hour. That was like a general from carthage losing a battle and calling in the elephants.

it's both parties trying toundermine each on the media while they line their own pockets making tax breaks for outsourcing. neither party is innocent, adn until people start demanding more from within their own parties? it will not get better.

I have always thought that labor should split from the Dems and start there own labor party. As of right now they are just contained in the democratic party and controled. It would also give people a third choice that they could relate to.

i would like to see a no confidence slot on the election tickets. then if nobody gets 50.1%? they have to run again. this would show that people care enought to show up and vote and they want something better.
