"Despite the bill's $940 billion, 10-year price tag, the Congressional Budget Office estimated that it would reduce the federal deficit by $130 billion in the next ten years, and by $1.2 trillion during the following ten years. "

Thank you. Though I am not technically a democrat either.
We didn't bail out Iraq Highway. Bush built a new kingdom there using our credit card with China. I hope to hell the democracy there holds so it wasn't a total waste of lives and money.
Surfer, we will see in 10-20 years. CBO is (supposed to be) non-partisan and republicans have used their numbers often enough themselves on other issues.
OH, and that 940 Bil price tag. Lets be generous and say 1 Tril over ten years shall we? That makes it 100 Bil per year. That is roughly 10-16% of what we spend on "Defense" (formerly known as the War Department) every year. Funny how we kick and scream about the money it will cost to cover the illnesses of our nation but we will spend 6-8 times the amount to kill others without even flinching.
